Reception Ideas (Beach vs. Booking the Disco)

Recommended Posts

no, i totally would contact her. there are about 3 weddings a day. if you are the last to put in your request, the stuff may already be booked. i would say email her sometime in advance. i don't know about this soon but sometime. also, don't worry if it takes her awhile to get back to you. give it about 2 weeks, if you don't hear anything by then, i would resend the email. oh, and dinner is usually at an assigned place, like for me it was the plantation but for other people when we were there it was Mammee bay. same menu, different location.

When you use the terms "beach reception" or "poolside reception" what exactly does that entail? I understand the logistics and what's included in Mammee Bay/Plantation but I'm confused on the beach reception.

Do you mean having the BBQ menu, on the beach or the poolside?

I was going to have the beach reception. I was under the impression that it meant you have your dinner at the Mammee Bay, then go to the Seagrape and you have to pay a certain amount ($10) per person. Plus you would have to pay for the entertainment (D.J. or band)

I had not heard of the poolside reception, does anyone have more information on it?

There is not too much info out there on the pool reception, but my TA walked me thru the picture of the pool and where everything would be set up. There are no pics of it at this point.

Round tables of 8 with white on white linen. Standard food is the BBQ menu but that can be changed. $55 (2008/2009) price per person includes alcohol. DJ is a separate cost. Hope this helps.

The same can be done on the beach.

  • 3 weeks later...

My wedding is in April 09, and I recently tried to book for my reception location and it was already booked....so that kind of gives you an idea of how far maybe you should book for the reception. Also, I tried to book thru Chandlyn, but got nowhere and got a response that she will talk to me 2 months before my wedding. I got my TA is call to book our dinner at Mammee and I tried for the Seagrape but it was already booked.....so now onto plan B for me!!! (Which i dont know what that is, I think see if a poolside reception can be set up WITHOUT having a dinner)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
