Jana,

Thank you for the information! My FH likes the terrace more and I like the beach more. It's a show-down. Lol.

Hi Ladies, I just want to say I love everyones reviews and so appreciate them all. I have been working on planning a wedding at dreams Cancun since September of 2011, we are so excited/ a little nervous. My fiance and I took a trip to the resort for a site inspection in February of this year and I am going to attach some photos here for you ladies to see.

My feelings on the resort: When I first went for our site inspection I was a little less then impressed. That being said it was raining and terribly windy (i felt horrible for the ladies getting married that day). My fiance and I returned the next day to look at the resort again and I fell in love with the location and the staff.

Important Note* This hotel isnt the newest hotel but the location is the absolute BEST. I have yet to see a more beautiful location and my fiance and I visited 5 different locations (and were exhausted). The Dreams treated us like we were friends, were happy to answer all the questions that we had and all the guests seemed to truly be enjoying themselves. The resort is within walking distance to many things (shopping, clubs, restaurants and even a mall). Also, Cecilia is really great and has a lot of experience, which was really important or my fiance and I. We really wanted someone with experience.

Shipping: I want to really warn and caution people against shipping anything to or from Mexico. I have been living in Mexico for 1 year (originally from MI) and the mail system is terrible here. It could take months for anything to arrive. I was still recieving Christmas cards in March.

Below are some pictures of our site inspection. I still have 8 more months before tying the knot but Id be happy to help.

Scuba Diving Dock next to Himitsu Beach. Absolutely beautiful location for photos!!!Pictures taken from scuba dock facing Himitsu Beach and lighthouse!!!Pool/ Ocean water next to the pool! I am not sure what this place is called but I dont think I will be sitting here because the beaches are gorgeous!Dolphin Pool...lighthouse!!! Every bridal photo I have seen here is so absolutely phenomenal!!! This place is one of the reasons I fell in love with this resort!Gazeebo (there was a yoga class when we visited)this is where your party will walk down the aisle!! Not a central entrance but the view you want isnt behind you its whats in front of you!!the Tower and pool that is behind you!!! The pool is very WEE!!!This is the view to the Right of the gazebo. After the last hurricane the resort put out a hurricane wall made out of cubes of concrete. It made the Caribe beach bigger and more protected from the weather!concrete barrierthe big caribe beacha room in the towercaribe beachgorgeous view of the gazeboPyramid room facing the dolphin poolhimitsu beach from pyramid room

I hope these pictures help!! Please let me know if you have any questions!!

Hey Ladies,

thanks for all the questions and reviews!! I am so thankful for the people that returned and have written about their experiences. I havent gotten married yet but my fiance and I are set to tie the knot on February 23rd 2013. I am praying for good weather. We did a site visit in February and I below I will post the link  to the pictures I took. I wanted to see if anyone had their reception on the Caribe Beach. I have it booked but I am not sure with the wind how it will be?

Let me know if you have any questions. My fiance and I were impressed with the resort. Although it isnt the newest I do believe it is the best location..

Attached below is a link of all the pictures that I took at the resort on my site visit. I tried to take pictures from all angles so I hope this helps...

Hi Alina,

Thank you so much for taking the time and posting these pictures.  The location does look beautiful.  I am very unimpressed with the hotel.  I have my wedding booked for October 26, and I have been having nightmares about the way the hotel will look and my guests complaining about it.  It does not look luxurious at all.  What was your first impression.

I was so worried about all of the same things you were worried about. All of our family and friends have money unlike us and they go to really fancy resorts. They all had an amazing time and really enjoyed the resort. The dolphins, drinks, and food won them over. I was so relieved. Trust me u have nothing to worry about at all. Not one single thing.

Hey Ladies,

sorry for posting twice, the first time i tried to post the website sent me an error message!

I think Jana s right. The thing about the hotel is that it is NOT as luxurious as other hotels. My fiance and I looked at other hotels that were all more luxurious and more updated, however we kept getting the same feeling. As new and nice as the other resorts were, they didn't have the character or location we truly wanted and felt was our style.

The reasons we chose this hotel was because of the location (there is No location in Cancun that is more beautiful). Location was important to us because we wanted a beautiful setting and beautiful pictures. We also chose this location because of all the positive reviews. Evertime I looked for destination wedding locations the Dreams kept popping up as one of the top locations. We felt comfortable in knowing that so many people had such a great experience. We also chose the location for the price and planner. We couldnt afford to have a huge wedding back home and could get all that we wanted at the dreams. Also Ceci and Claudia have so much experience and we didnt want to worry about the planning aspect. Finally, we chose the location because of the great reviews. Every time I visit this site I feel like I made the right decision!

Dont worry about your guests! It is your wedding and where you want to have it is the most important. Your guests will have an amazing time wherever they go. You are in a beautiful place with so many activities. If your guests have a problem they can always pay for the guest pass (and stay somewhere else) or go to another resort after the wedding. Your job is to choose the place that makes you the most happy and enjoy your special day!!

Alina,

Thank you for posting.  My wedding is Oct 13, 2012 and I chose Dreams for many of the same reason. However, the primary one - LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION.  You simply will not find a more perfect site for your wedding in Cancun.  Cecilia has been so gracious in answering my 2.5 million questions coupled with everyone on this thread.  We are super excited and looking forward to having an amazing time in October.

Thank you again for putting my mind more at ease!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
