Dreams Cancun - Questions for those married here!

Recommended Posts

I think I will probably try and get a group together for CocoBongo on another night of the trip.  (I vacationed in Cancun back in 2004 and loved CocoBongo)  The day after our wedding we are offering everyone an excursion and we will need to leave around 7:30am...so I think we may have to stick to Desires for after the reception.

Did you visit any other clubs/bars while you were in Cancun that you recommend?  (I bet most of the ones from when I first went are not longer open...)

The concierge at dreams can also hook you up for a group discount at clubs. It's a not only a club, they put on a show too so the older people also really enjoyed it. Hello Brides,

First time on this site :)   I'm looking to getting married next summer at Dreams Cancun, but i can't seem to get a response from the WC. I submitted a wedding request form and I also emailed the WC.  How long does it take to get a response?  I'm so impatient...

They do take quite a while to get back to you.  Often you can get a slightly quicker response through your travel agent (especially if they have had previous Dreams Cancun brides) - but even then it still isn't a quick response.

I remember reading that the coordinator of this thread was a travel agent that's helped many brides coordinate. My travel agent had promised that my deal would be better than any I can find online and turned out to be worse! my invitations already have his information but I was hoping that I could get in touch with antoher agent and add an insert into the invitations to point to that agent instead.

Did you guys block off rooms? How do you coordinate everyone?

Can someone please advise. I'm desperate :(

Thanks!

We did a group rate (which requires a minimum of 10 rooms booked) for the rooms and airport transfers only.  We did not include flights in the price because different airports would be used and guests would be staying different lengths of time.  Here are the details (minus the price because at different times of year I am sure they vary widely):

- the cost was presented as a price for a 3-night stay plus a per night price for any additional nights - this came in handy as one of the couples is only staying 3 nights, the rest are staying 4, 5, and 6 nights (fiance and I are staying 8 nights)

- the price includes round trip transfers to/from the airport

- $100 per person in resort credits

- one VIP room upgrade (I am sure pending availability) for every 10 rooms paid

- 6th room complimentary (only counts for double occupancy rooms)

We managed to get 12 double-occupancy rooms so hopefully my fiance and I will get an upgraded room and we should get some amount of credit for 2 free rooms.  The free room bit is somehow calculated based on the number of nights rooms are booked.  Our group rate has closed but our travel agent hasn't heard back from the resort yet on the free room credit so we will see what we get.

Hope that helps!

I hope you don't mind me butting in, but my TA is awesome, so I wanted to share, too!

We were able to have a slightly smaller block, though. We only had to guarantee 8 rooms (Kim told us that the minimum for a group booking was 6) and we ended up booking 10. I loved getting the call that the rest of our stay was paid off through free-night credits ;)

Sasha, as for letting our guests know, Kim and her wedding specialist Gail basically re-vamped our wedding website with all the travel info, and I included a card in our invites with Kim's contact information. Also from my experience, the rates were pretty close to what I was able to find online (a little better).

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
