Hey, sorry I know my name is not Trisha (lol) but, Jazmin emailed me the other day saying that most people do have music during the dinner too. I guess you can go either way... we were going to bring out Ipod dock with batteries (which is actually loud) for the beach and our room, but we opted for the DJ by the pool for dinner and then the reception.

Haha! Jennifer you're a Jersey Girl too! Up by Lake Hopatcong! I am so excited for you!!! We were supposed to go down in January to visit GBP, but with money being tight, we can't. Otherwise I would have met up with you to discuss everything that we checked out! Oh well... still cool to see someone else from Jersey!

JoLo908 where in jersey are you? Well our wedding is in Feb on the Akumal side and we have not done a site visit which is now making me nervous, but most brides have had an amazing experience. Since you can't do a site visit if there is anything you want to know let me know and I can get it for you.

I'm happy to report that my future BIL just returned from the GBP Tulum and said it's just as fabulous as it was 3 years ago when we were there last. He said he saw a couple weddings going on so I can't wait to get all the scoops. He said the food wasn't as good at Tulum as it used to be, but he is a chef here in NYC and very very picky. He added that the service is still great.

I was dreading he would come back and say it's all gone bad since we were there last so it's a huge relief.

Funny how many NJ girls are deciding to get married there. We decided on this resort b/c we were there years ago and fell in love with it - why did you guys decide on GBP Tulumhuh.gif

Happy Friday everyone!!!

1kpaine that is great your FBIL had a great time. That is always a relief to hear when people say they like it. My FI and I have never been there we picked it based on the reviews and setup and seems to fit the needs of all our guests. I wish we did a site visit but did not get a chance.

Yes there are a lot of Jersey girls!!!!

We also picked it based on reviews and what would be helpful to us and our guests... We looked in to a lot of different locations, and this was definitely the best for many reasons. We don't think we are going to be able to do a visit before hand for money reasons, but you never know!!! We are located in Berkeley Heights NJ.

Well you girls will not be disappointed. Not sure if you are thinking about doing any excursions but we did one when we were there last and it was so much fun. It took us to one of the ruins, we went on a zip line, hiked a little, repelled down a small cliff then finished the day off in this small village where they made us real authentic Mexican food. The day was filled with a little bit of everything. Everyone was so gracious and nice. We had so much fun we're going to set it up for everyone to do while we're there for our wedding.

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!!!

I don't know if this helps anyone, but Jazmin e-mailed me saying that guess passes for adults are $90, and for kids $45... They include, food, beverage, food, we just have to pay the same amount for the reception food per head... also, our phtographer Claudia Rodriquez does not need a guess pass.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
