Insulated MUGS - I copied another bride on this forum.  http://www.bestdesti...iscountmugs-com  I ordered DM888 in orange from discountmugs.com with no printing on them.  My wedding colors are orange and turquoise.  They have a 10% off coupon (SPRING10 - I think this special ends today, but they may have another discount soon - signup for their email list), so for 50 mugs, it cost me a total of $154 (shipping was free). 50 cups x $3.43 per cup = $171.50 - $17.15 discount = $154.35.  I have not yet ordered the labels for these.  That's my next step.  Or I might decide to order a page of window decal from vistaprint instead.  Not sure yet!  I want to put the guest's name on each cup and I don't yet know who all is coming or not.

abbie32 - Wow that's great to hear!  Where did you order the waterproof labels for the mugs?  Did you print them yourself or where did you have them printed?  I am going to look at your pictures later, thanks so much for sharing!

sposa - just gorgeous!! I love your tango-style dress...it's just perfect since you're from Argentina.

Sunshine - I'm bringing in my own makeup artist (Sara Tamargo) and hair person.  I will be paying a $90 day pass for each of them.

      Hey Andree

I didn't receive any pictures of fabrics or dishes.  I saw pictures of the poolside reception by a fellow poster on this forum (I can PM you the pics if you want).  If you have the fabric swatches and dish details from the wedding coordinator, do you mind PM'ing to me?

      Thanks in advance!

Thank you!  I think this will be worth it - given the recent 'not so great' reviews of the spa/salon services!
I've also been told that if I can find someone to do airbrushing makeup to spend the $ for it as its apparently VERY worth it considering the humidity down there
Any one hear of this? or know a makeup artist who does this?

OK so how upset am i!!

I have been emailing my WC Maria (  it was Karla who was great at responding within 2day max) Maria not so fast ! - but do understand how busy they are in resort.

Maria had previously confirmed my party would be staying in Coba which was great as this is where we stayed when we were there a few years ago and we loved it ( hence reason for re booking this place for our wedding) anyway after finding out on here a while ago that Karla had left i quickly emailed Paloma who assured me everything is fine and that Maria would be in contact shortly fast forward several weeks -she did and assured me everything was in place etc..

anyway I have now received an email 4 weeks to go to tell me that our wedding party/group will now be staying in Akumal hotel! reading that this will work better as our wedding is at Akumal beach! -my first reaction was to be very upset at this -After all we had been confirmed in Coba and we kinda got it set in our heads, i have tried to find out more about Akumal and it seems to be absolutely great  and nearer beach etc.. but now I'm worried does this mean that i will get a new WC??

I cant help but think that maybe because Karla is no longer there that maybe they are moving the load??

I have emailed back expressing my confusion etc.. but then emailed saying i guess it makes sense etc.. as we are getting Married at Akumal-

But i ahve alraedy made my spa appointments on wedding day for Coba Spa!!?/?/

What do you ladies think am i losing out being moved to Akumal or gaining??

arrrrrrrrrrrgggggggghhhhhhhh - not what need at 4 weeks to go!!!

Keep telling myself it's nothing to worry about as i know the resort is fab from my last trip there but to be honest we didnt really compare the hotels we just chilled out and enjoyed our trip!

          I just need some reassurance.

any comments would be appreciated. :0)

Tara - Your pictures are just gorgeous.  Did you have to pay extra for the photographer to take pictures at your reception?  Also, where did you get those cute starfish necklaces for the bridesmaids?

jody11 and Jemma - What is your email address? I can send you the catalog of flowers.  But honestly it's not very helpful.  You are better off showing your wedding coordinator a picture of what you want and they can replicate it.

Jemma - Have you set a date and location with Paloma yet?  Once you set the date and location, she will assign you a wedding coordinator.  Which email address are you sending to?

              Hi Dannybunny,

              Stress... stress... stress :-(

Don't worry about the Akumal section. It's absolutely gorgeous !

My groom and I went 3 or 4 times to GBP Tulum and Akumal (Coba was still under construction). If it can reassure you....

I'm sure you'll be really happy with the ceremony location on the beach !

Where are you supposed to host your wedding reception (restaurant 'a la carte', poolside) ?

I'm not 100% sure about it... but I thought there was only 1 spa for the resort... ?

              Abbie32, Sposa,

Thanks for your grest reviews and pictures. You looked so awesome !

              Melmed,

I asked some days ago pictures of fabrics and dishes to the WC. Still waiting...

              AndrĀ©e

Hi, girls!  We just got back!  Congratulations to those that just got married!  I saw same beautiful weddings!!!  We got married at the Akumal Beach location.  The walk is about 1 min 30 sec to 2 min depends how you walk.  My song was 2 minutes long and I had some time left in it. The guy who regulates music sits just right next to the location and he can see when to turn music off or on.  His timing is excellent.  I will do my review a bit later (had to go to work today... grrr..:))

Photos:  We had Nestor.  He is AWESOME!!!!  He can do different types of photographs (classic, candid, journalistic type, you  name it).  We budgeted for the cheapest (Basic package), but ended up buying 140 photos as out of all photos we did not like only 10-15 photographs.  So if you are going with the resort photographer - Nestor is your guy.  I am sure the other photographers there are as great.

For those of you who think of brining your photographer to the resort, this is how their photography session works.  If you book Remember package you get 10 photographs free.  This photos are ceremony only!  So basically saying, resort photographer will be there only during your 15-20 minute ceremony and you can choose your free photographs.  That is it.  No photographs of bride getting ready, no photos after the ceremony.  He/She will leave after your ceremony is done.  Maria (is the person who you are meeting with at the resort to sign your contract for photography) is VERY pushy.  She does not know how photography works, what photographers do, etc.  She is there only to sign you up for the contract.  He favourite answer to any question is "sign this contract and I will answer your questions".  Anyway.  You have an option not to sign that contract and photographer will only show up for the ceremony.  That way, you photographer who is coming with you (make sure he/she is a guest at the resort) will have not problems taking your photos after the ceremony and definitely not a problem for pics before the ceremony.  (It was not said to me directly, but we asked Maria and Nestor all questions indirectly and got our answers).  But seriously, in my opinion their photographers know what they are doing and you pay fairly the same amount as if you would pay your photographer.

Good luck to those who are still in the planning process!  I will put pictures on the web soon so you can see location and pics, etc.

Jemma if you have some previous email from karla telling you something i would get into the phone and see if you get hold of paloma.i think lots of us got caught int the middle of Karla leaving and maria taking over.also if you booked through and agency back home get them to email them as well.

Its true that sometimes the hotel have the last word anyway.

nowmthe all complex is really nice and you can use the facilities of any.The coba seems more private since most of the people tend to walk to beach in the morning and spend the day in there. For us the sun was a bit too much and we enjoyed the pools. The rooms seem to be all the same.

                  Good luck!!

Akumal and Coba is within walking distance.  We had our dinner booked for our second day there and we waited and waited for that golf cart train... :)  We ended up walking and were surprised that it took us 5 minutes to get to the Akumal lobby.  Rooms are exactly the same.  We even had our guests stay in Royal Club and their rooms were exactly the same as ours, they just had a bit more perks.... so don't stress.  Coba beach and Akumal beach locations are close by, well.... if you walk on the beach.  I would even say that Akumal is nicer since you have the more option of decoration on that location.  At Coba, they can only put table and chairs.  Akumal is also very private, people are around you, but not close by.  They can see whats going on, but cannot walk into your ceremony.  Don't stress, you will like Akumal as much as Coba.

If you get new WC, Eugenia at Akumal is very organized.

Music suggestions:  We did only one song for when guests are arriving and getting seated.  Eugenia asked us for 4 songs, if you want your own music playing while guests are arriving as they are there about 20 minutes before you.  So if you want music playing while your guest are arriving, go for 4-6 song at least.  What Eugenia ended up doing, when MH arrived, she put our song for seating guests so they can be seated and then started the rest of the songs.  Worked our nicely.  It was very hot at 3 pm and our guests were under the shade anyway (there is no shade around the hammock site).
