How to keep from burning on your wedding day??

Recommended Posts

I tanned for about 2 months before our wedding, I got a really good tan before I went. I was REALLY good about staying out of the sun (sitting by the pool I would sit under an umbrella) I even had SPF 30 makeup on. Well all that went to the waste side, when DH and I decided to get a couple massage the morning of our wedding, well after wards, we decided to take a short walk on the beach before we parted ways. Yeah, I didn't even think about all the oil they put on us and my shoulders got really burnt in the 30 minutes or so that we were walking on the beach.. lol.. So my advise, just becareful.. :-)

What time is your wedding ceremony? Ours was at 4 PM, and I dont think I remembered to apply sunscreen that day, I just had SPF 15 moisturizer on my face! But it turned out fine since we were inside all day getting ready, and by 4 PM the ceremony sites at the ROR are partially in shade. I never felt overwhelmingly hot on the wedding day and I never burnt at any time at the ROR! I did pre-tan though and use sunscreen religiously all other days!

It was really hard for me to not get burnt before the wedding. I couldn't stay out of the pool because I wanted to have fun with everyone. We were there 4 days before the wedding and I forgot to pack sunscreen. All anyone had was spf 30. That was not enough. I didn't get too burnt though- just a little red. I didn't have huge tan lines either.

For the wedding day, I didn't use any since my wedding was at 6pm. However, they do have oil free sunscreens. I'd buy one of those for your body. For your face, I'd just use your make up as your protectant. Most foundations have at least spf 15 in them.

If you happen to get tan lines, use foundation and bronzer to blend them. My mom had horrendous tan lines and I was able to really blend them so it didn't look as bad. It's an easy fix- just be careful not to get it on your dress!

THat's exactly what I did.. My only advise is be careful, I ended up rubbing a little on Dh's shirt.

YES, I used the one on the right, Neutrogena Ultra-Sheer Try Touch on my wedding day and it didn't feel greasy at all. I have other sunscreens that claim they are oil free or non greasy, but they aren't, this one actually is.

To prevent sunburn, double your protection with sunscreen and a makeup w/sunscreen in it.

My favourites are:

1) Estee Lauder Double Wear liquid makeup w/SPF 10 - this is oil-free and stays put nicely

2) Pro Activ Oil Free Moisture SPF 15

3) Neutrogena Sensitive Skin sunblock SPF 45

4) Neturogena Moisture SPF 15

I agree about SPF 50 and staying out of the sun until the wedding! Luckily we're only going 2 days ahead, but anything can happen...We're getting married at 1 pm too, so I'm concerned about everyone getting too much sun just during the ceremony!

I'm not usually a hat person, but I think I'm going to pick up a wide brimmed hat or cute baseball cap to wear for extra face protection (not for the wedding day, of course!).

FI - technically DH, and I are both tanning so we have good color when we arrive and it's not a big deal for us to stay out of the sun alot before our wedding. We're going to Baja Beach Tanning Club, and we love it. Never have to make an appt and the color we're getting is amazing!

Good idea lol

I don't tan at all, I'm really fair and I stay that way or go scarlet and we have to be there 4 days before lol FI goes really dark its so unfair lmao

Tanning before I go is no good either it just doesn't work i've not got the pigment in my skin i dont think!girl_werewolf.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
