TA Quotes..How Early?

I was wondering how far in advance everyone was able to receive quotes for your trips?

I have gotten a quote from one TA for my Nov 09 wedding but others are telling me that I still have to wait like another 8 months to get any kind of pricing? I do understand that it is far away and don't expect any for sure prices but just an idea of what my guests are looking at for prices.

We are using a TA from Alberta and she was able to get us packages almost one year out - that being said - airlines do not schedule their flights more than 330 days out so really you are looking at a quote for the hotel (which is estimated based on a certain % increase each year - I think what I would do is try and get a quote for November 2008 (which is when we are getting married!) and use that - we started pricing for November 2007 early in 2007 and the rates for Nov 2007 are similar to November 2008!

SOrry that's a bit of a rant - Hope it makes sense!

Thanks I will try that. Who did you use for a TA? Just curious because I am in Alberta and trying to find a good one.

I got quotes as soon as I knew I was getting married... Maybe 9 months HOWEVER I was smart and didnt go with the airfare. I just got my airfare because according to the TA's in Japan the "specials" come in "seasons" Back in January the price to go just to fiji was as much as 4k us dollars. But this week I bought my ticket for 1600 usd to fiji AND New Zealand! YEAH!!!!!

Wow, I've always wanted to go to NZ, I'm so jealous. [sigh] One of these days....

Anyways, local travel agents here said they won't even get brochures in until July 2008 at the earliest, so they can't give us any prices until then.

It might be best that you narrow down your search to a few resorts you like and then keep an eye on the prices & reviews of resorts until you can actually book.

Hope that helps,

Sorcha

I have already booked for November 2009, I booked in Jan this year but I did struggle with some TA's you just have to be a bit pushy, if they want your business then they will give you the quotes, out TA has also let us have the 2008 prices which is really good, so my advice is keep on at them, good luck !

Thanks I'll keep trying. If you don't mind me asking who is your TA and where is she located?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
