Pashminas from China Town

Recommended Posts

Ok here is an update: Sorry that I haven't gotten a chance to pick these up yet. I was sick all last week and then it got freezing cold in NYC and it is not pleasant to go shopping when your face is being slapped by wind (most shops are outside they are not indoor stores). If it does not snow tomorrow I am going to go to chinatown and pick everyones stuff up. I think with the amount we have they will have no choice but to give us a good deal. I will fight tooth and nail until they do. The only problem is that I don't know how big of a quanitity each store has (some may only have 3 or 4 pieces in each color), the shops are pretty small. But I'm not worried b/c there are tons of shops so I will just walk up and down until I get everyone's. Once I buy them I will ship them out to you and then I will PM you the price of the pashs plus the shipping cost. I will send them regular mail so that the shipping won't be so expensive. And they don't weigh a lot so it shouldn't be so expensive. Here is what I am picking up:

1. Karla V 30 pieces in turquoise

2. Jennetta 30 pieces in a champagne/light beige

3. Sarah C 10 pieces in taupe (would you take white in case they don't have taupe?)

4. Tammy M 3 pieces in the olive green

5. Nicole H. 12 pieces in the vibrant red

6. Lou 8 pieces total 4 black, 4 white (please PM your address and last name)

7. Jennifer 1 piece in either turquoise or fuschia (please PM me your address and last name)

8. Sarah 15 pieces in fuschia (but only if I can get them for $2.50 a piece, otherwise no)

If I am missing anyone or someone changed their mind, or someone wants to add please let me know by tomorrow early morning. I will go straight there and will not get a chance to check posts later in the afternoon. I hope you all love your pashminas!

Ok Sarah that's perfect! I was worried I wouldn't be able to find taupe but they will def have light beige/champagne. Btw I love your white theme (white is my favorite color). I wanted to do all white also, but I was scared there wouldn't be enough color and it would look like it needed some color. I can't wait to see how yours turns out!

I'm excited about the white wedding theme. We have decided to do red as an accent color though, so there will be red roses as well...

Ok update. Went to chinatown today and hussled my way around the shops. These owners are such husslers they change the price everyday! I want to kill them. And they go with whatever price everyone else is selling for so that this way no one can outsell them for a cheaper price. Anyway today the price of pashs was $8 each. I almost had a heartattack. Okay so I go up to this woman and I'm like "$8?" and she's like "yes". So I said "no I don't think so." So I start to walk away and she calls me back and goes "ok 3 for $10." Which was much better than the 2 for $5 I thought I was going to have to purchase them for. So I'm like "will you give me 3 for $5?" And she scoffed and was like "no, that's too little. you'll never get that price around here". And I'm like "ok, I'll think about it" (which is NYorker for I'm not buying shit). So I turn to walk away and she's like "ok, ok $2.75 each." So I tried asking her for $2.50 each but she wouldn't budge so I took it. So after the longwinded story my point is that I got everyone's pashs for $2.75 each!

YAY! I figure it's a lot better than the $20 they want on ebay! Almost as good as the $2.50 price Tasha got in HK. I sent everyone's packages out today and they should be arriving shortly. I PM'ed everyone the total and tracking numbers. If anyone needs me to mail them receipts for the shipping please let me know. I don't have receipts for the pashs b/c this shady street shopping we're talking about. Also Louisa and Jennifer I need your addresses so that I can send your packages out to you. Hope everyone likes their pashs. Oh yeah I only had one problem. Karla they only had 29 turquoise so I had to buy your other from another shop. The 30th one cost me $4.00. Also it is a slightly different shade than the others but I figured it wasn't too bad and it was better to have a slightly different shade than to have one of your guests not have one at all. I'm sure no one will notice. Sorry but I looked around and I could not find another one like the others. I did my best.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
