Making Me Look Older

Recommended Posts

I have been told at least 10 different times that I look like my FI's daughter. How embarrassing, but even more so for the person when we tell them otherwise. Most people think that I am between 15 and 18. Every time I get told this is when I have my hair pulled back and sometimes not. I want my hair up for the wedding, so how do I make myself look older? I know many of you are probably wishing you could make yourself look younger, but honestly I don't want to look 12 on my wedding day. Any suggestions?

I get that alot too! One time the Jahovah Witness came to my house, and FI answered and they said, "Is your daughter home?" lol You should have seen his face!!! Also, one time I was at a Parent Teacher Conference (as the teacher) and my student's parent just started laughing... and he said, "Ummm please dont take this the wrong way, but how old are you? I am worried that my sons teacher is in highschool" ( I was actually pissed off)

focus.gif I think extra mascara/eyelashes and makeup will do the trick for your wedding. Maybe if some of your hair is up. Believe me no one will mistake you for his child bride! You are going to be beautiful!

I used to get that a lot, too. The day will come when you miss hearing it... but I digress.

One of the things that used to really make a difference is that when I pulled my hair back, I had some height in the hair over my forehead. I actually used to back-comb the front crown before I pulled it back. The high school cheerleader pony tail thing is less intense that way.

Hope that helps a bit!

Different make-up and hair can make a HUGE difference.

Go to your nearest MAC counter and tell them your trouble -- and let them work some magic (they are great about showing you how to do it so that you can do it yourself).

And depending on how attached you are to your current hairstyle -- a change can make a big difference.

I look at pics of me from about 10 years ago and I look older then than I do now -- all b/c of the haircut I had. So -- I bet a new style could help add to your sophistication.

Although -- I guarantee on your wedding day you will look like a beautiful goddess that no one thinks is a young'un!

I've had people ask me in business meetings if I'm an intern. It's great to see their face when I start to run the meeting! I can feel your pain though...

For me, I makes a big difference how tightly I pull my hair back. The softer the look, the more I look like my actual age. I think soft and sophisticated is the way to go for your hair. Try a test run at home if you're nervous.

Make-up will also make a big difference. Regardless, you'll look beautiful on your big day!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
