OK, I know the name on your airline ticket has to match your passport. Does anything else have to match? My friend's drivers license does not match her passport.

I'm not sure if they ever ask for secondary ID (but it wouldn't surprise me). It doesn't hurt if she changes her drivers license just in case!

I was told the DL had to match the passport? Maybe it's just extra security?

she should have her DL match. Did she have a name change recently?

I would think it would need to match, just in case they ask to see it. No one ever asked to see mine though...

I thought a passport was all the photo id needed.

Only a passport is necessary to match, regardless if it's international travel or not. Just 1 "legal" photo id matching the ticket is fine. I mean, not everyone has a DL. Your friend is fine - mine don't match either.

Whenever I travel I usually leave my DL's at home if using passport as ID and haven't had any problems. But just in case, would it be more convenient to change her name on DL or just get a new ID card.

I don't know if all states do this but in Cali you can have a separate ID and DL.

I usually leave my DL at home, too, unless I plan to drive.

If you have your passport, that should be sufficient. I have travelled internationally quite a bit and have NEVER been asked for anything other than my passport.
