Just returned from a one week stay in St. Lucia. We stayed at Bay Gardens Beach Resort where we got married. EXTRAORDINARY PLACE! The site is beautiful, the staff friendly and pleasant, the food, in short it is the best trip I've done so far, and we are already planning to return for our 3rd wedding anniversary. Saint Lucia is the most beautiful place I have ever been to! For the adventurous like me, there are many waterfalls deep in the interiors that are still untouched by all the tourists coming into the island. We hired acclaimed photographer Bill Mortley (www.billmortleyphotography.com) to photograph our wedding and after the ceremony he took us to various locations to do our formals. Beautiful photos!!!!!! That made our entire trip so special. Probably the best decision we made. We read so much about him before deciding HE was the one we were going to entrust with our special moments. Bill took so much time to ensure each pose was captured professionally. Lots of attention to exposure and white balance...the guy knows his stuff. It was truly an amazing experience. The only thing I would advise apart from that is with the excursions. We paid a lot for one and weren't fully satisfied, so the next day we went out instead with one of the beach vendors, and that was truly a good decision. Saint Lucia is the most beautiful place I have ever seen! The journey is from the airport is long, but when you arrive at the resort it is worth it! The place is gorgeous, the food is excellent and the staff is so friendly...we can't wait to go back.

Communication You and your fiancé should sit down and talk through what you are envisioning for your wedding. This is the initial stages so play around with ideas, more so hear pay attention to what fiancé likes too. Also draw up your budget estimation. Get in touch with a professional, such as a wedding planner or travel agent, wedding consultant etc. Figure out this part with a professional help or someone with experience. You want to make sure you have a wedding planner or consultant who has knowledge, make sure you have a great connection /vibe with them, especially since you are going to be trusting them with such an important task. Ask them as many questions as you can. What destination and resort would work for you, make sure you point out your requirements you are looking for with a resort. E.g are you looking for a family friendly resort? An All-inclusive resort? Or a resort with tons of activities? Sandy beach. What group benefits you could find? Break down the wedding planning into mini tasks. Once you choose your destination and resort or private location, you want to decide between you and your fiancé, who is going to do what task. This is also the time to decide if your bridal party will be doing some DIY if necessary (delegate). Best result comes when you take care of 1 task at a time. Resort booking make sure you are 100%happy before signing any contract and have read all fine prints. Decide on wedding location, choose are you hosting your wedding at a resort or off-resort? Choose your photographer, choose a package that works with your budget and select enough hours DJ make sure you get some reviews, enough to get you comfortable. Décor and florist this part usually drags a bit but its ok, communicate what you are looking for and share pictures to help communication. Cake, best option is choose your design and flavors. Favors, draw up how much you would like to spend on this part don’t go overboard. Welcomes bags, same rule apply as favors. Any extra you may want (bridal party gifts if you choose) Inspiration board You and your fiancé will choose your theme, and colors, be sure to visit some your top wedding pages such Pinterest for inspiration this will help you, especially to communicate with your location virtually on your vision. To avoid confusion on tones/color scheme etc. Research is great, but make sure you do not overdo it, to avoid overwhelming yourself. Create a wedding website This is going to be the best way to communicate with your guests throughout your wedding planning. Make sure you include your travel agent´s information, to help your guests with any question in terms of accommodation etc. This will help you to only focus on your wedding planning. Between your life and work, what are the suitable times to do your wedding planning task? Do you have more free time in the morning? Or in the evening? That you could do some planning? If you prefer weekends, then set some free time over the weekends. Whatever you do not over plan. Months will go by quickly, well at least that is how you will feel, with a simple spreadsheet it could be a word doc /PowerPoint to tick off your task and keep track of payment. As much as is this all new to you, important factor is your day is going to be so special, in fact it will be more that you have imagined ! Take it all in and don’t forget to say “I do”. Happy Planning! Hugs Joyce http://www.dreamwedd.../Home_Page.html

An anticipated happy wedding of Prophet Albert Mensah alias Nana Kofi, Founder of the Jesus Foundation Prayer Ministry at Site 14, Community 1, Tema, rather went sour Wednesday morning when a 20-year-old woman with her three-week-old baby boy disrupted the ceremony. The marriage department of the Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA) became the toast of attraction for most staff of the assembly, passersby and traders at the Tema Central Market when the woman, Ms Mabel Patamia, accompanied by her relations and sympathisers, demanded that the registrar halt the solemn ceremony between the prophet and one Joyce Anima Damptey. Ms Patamia did not even allow the couple to take the vows as she interrupted every pronouncement, prompting the Assistant Marriage Registrar to introduce her to the gathering. The main reason for her action, she told the marriage official, was that she was engaged to Prophet Nana Kofi and has a child with him and that both were preparing to marry sometime this year. The expected happy occasion turned sour as well-wishers and witnesses of the couple looked shocked. They began leaving the premises of the assembly with disappointment. Prophet Nana Kofi was said to have impregnated Ms Patamia when the mother sent her to the church for spiritual healing, as she was alleged to be suffering from spiritual attack. Isaac Ashai Odamtten, Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) of Tema, who overheard Mabel’s persistent screams, quickly intervened to hold a crunch meeting with both parties and the marriage department. PHOTO ivory bridesmaid dresses Mabel Patamia holding her baby and leaving the marriage office TMA together with some sympathisers and relatives Mabel Patamia holding her baby and leaving the marriage office TMA together with some sympathisers and relatives After close to 30 minutes, it was concluded that the assembly would withhold the marriage certificate of the couple till Ms Patamia was dully compensated. The pastor was also to sign an undertaking at the Social Welfare Department that he would cater for the child. Prophet Nana Kofi was later whisked away in a car together with his would-be wife amidst jeers and boos from the crowd. Cynthia Patamia, mother of the dejected lady, narrated to DAILY GUIDE that her daughter entered into a relationship with Prophet Nana Kofi when she sent her for prayers as she was suffering from ‘high fever.’ She became pregnant and Prophet Nana Kofi was made to perform the initial customary rites to the family. “However, after coming for the list, I never heard from him again until I heard that he had impregnated another member of the church. I confronted him and he told me that he impregnated the woman who she was getting married to,” she stated. Cynthia Patamia said to her surprise, she was in the house at Site 5, Community 1, Tema, when news got to her that Prophet Nana Kofi was getting marriage to another woman who was also pregnant for him. According to her, “I quickly called my daughter, some friends and relatives and we went to the assembly to stop them from getting marriage since he cannot take my daughter and me for a ride.” Mabel Patamia told DAILY GUIDE that although she was demanding that the marriage should be halted, she had no problem with Prophet Nana Kofi getting married; but was only concerned with the clandestine way he was going about it. Meanwhile, the marriage department of the assembly is said to be in a fix and could face possible legal action if it failed to issue the marriage certificate to them. This is because the couple were said to have gone through all the processes as their names were pasted on the marriage notice board for the expected 21 days and even had additional five days which elapsed before they were booked to come for the solemnisation. League wins salary cap fight with Redskins ATLANTA (AP) An arbitrator upheld the NFL’s salary cap reductions on the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Redskins for this season and next. Stephen Burbank dwight howard jersey ruled Tuesday in favor of the league and dismissed the grievances by both teams. The Redskins lost $36 million over two years, nfl jerseys. The Cowboys lost paul pierce jersey $10 million for overloading contracts during the uncapped 2010 season despite league warnings about such maneuvering. The Cowboys and Redskins, nba jerseys 975, who nfl jersey size chart filed their grievances against the league and players’ association, said in a joint statement they would “abide by the arbitrator’s wholesale nfl jerseys decision to dismiss.” “We will continue to focus on our football teams and the 2012 season,” the NFC rivals said. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones compared the dynamics of the salary cap with using a credit card. “The way you work around the salary cap is you kind of use the credit card to spend money that you won’t be spending in the future,” Jones said Tuesday at the owners meeting. “So it caused us to do more credit card spending in the future.” Redskins general manager Bruce Allen said the team is “obviously disappointed.” Asked how losing another $18 million might inhibit the Redskins, he said: “We’ll see. We’ll have time to talk about it.” League passes new pad rules for players ATLANTA (AP) The NFL made thigh and knee pads mandatory equipment for the 2013 season, something the players’ union was not pleased with. Atlanta Falcons president Rich McKay, chairman of the competition committee, said Tuesday at an owners meeting that because this is a playing rule, the league can apply it unilaterally. “We have a vote of the membership and can implement,” McKay said. “Some of us felt we were remiss that we took it out of the rule book high school and college makes it mandatory and in our mind that is how it should be and will be in 2013. PHOTO http://www.kissybridesmaid.com/sexy-bridesmaid-dresses “We have some work to do with the union.” McKay said the league will meet with NFL Players Association representatives on the issue, something they have discussed in the past. But the NFLPA argued that the move should be negotiated. “Any change in working conditions is a collectively bargained issue,” the union said in a statement. “While the NFL is focused on one element of health and safety today, the NFLPA believes that health and safety requires a comprehensive approach nfl jerseys cheap and commitment. We are engaged in and monitor many different issues, such as players’ access to medical records, prescription usage and the situation with professional football’s first responders, nfl jerseys, NFL referees. “We always look forward to meeting with the NFL to discuss any and all matters related to player health and safety.” The pads rule would not go into effect on the field until next year so equipment manufacturers can work on safety and comfort. Commissioner Roger Goodell couldn’t see any negatives to adding the thigh and knee pads. “We have raised the issue of mandatory pads for at least three years now,nfl jerseys,” he said. “I believe the technology has improved, the pads are far better than a decade ago, they allow better performance and are more protective. Every other level of football uses the pads.” Former All Pro safety Troy Vincent, now an NFL vice president, explained why there could be pushback from the players. “It’s psychological. Less pads you are faster, skinnier, that’s just the way I was introduced to the (pro) game,” he said. “It’s a culture shift. They will adjust.” Goodell pointed out something a Nike executive told him recently: NBA players are wearing more pads from the hips down than NFL players. “There is something wrong with that,” Goodell said. Should a player not have the pads john wall jersey on when he enters a game, he will be sent off the field by a game official. “It’s the same as if he ran on without a helmet,” McKay said. “It is a safety rule.” Goodell said he expects evidence in the Saints bounties case would be made public after all the player appeals and grievances have been heard. Release of any documents also could be delayed by Saints linebacker Jonathan Vilma’s tim duncan jersey authentic mlb jerseys defamation lawsuit against cheap authentic nfl jerseys Goodell after the commissioner suspended Vilma for the entire 2012 season. The owners also voted to move the trading deadline from after Week 6 to after Week 8, and to nhl jerseys cheap allow one “marquee” player placed on injured reserve to return to practice after the sixth week of the schedule and to the lineup after the eighth week. That player must be on the 53 man roster after the final preseason cut. Terrell Suggs, the 2011 Defensive Player of the Year, could fall into that category. Suggs recently underwent surgery for a torn Achilles tendon. If the Ravens believe Suggs can make it back in midseason, nhl hockey jerseys 318, as the linebacker has predicted, they could use the IR special designation for him. New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft likes the adjustment because he knows firsthand how devastating an injury to a star player can be. Visit Philly, Nyc, Bermuda And Venice In Pafa Exhibit
carpenter posted a blog entry in carpenter's Blog
Oh, the places you’ll go. Artist James Toogood takes viewers through cityscapes in Philadelphia and New York, the waterways of Venice, and the tropical beauty of Bermuda. In “James Toogood: Watercolors” at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA), the teacher and alumnus investigates the variations of light, texture, and atmosphere found in those places. Toogood, whose work has been featured in more than 40 solo exhibitions with the Rosenfeld Gallery in Philadelphia and other galleries and museums, uses watercolor paintings to communicate things he finds intriguing about the people, places, and things that make up everyday life. “My work is about my feelings about the things that amuse, bemuse, and stun me,” he said in a telephone interview. “I’m trying to find beauty sometimes in the banal. A pizza place in New York City might not be the first thing you think of.” But he did and he painted one into a work called “Mixed Emotions.” It shows a street corner in NYC as it is, but also as he wants to see it. He adds things, moves buildings, or changes things to fit his vision. People think the scenes are strictly representative and actually appear the way he paints them. “You get a sense of believability,” he said. “Because certain things are believable, it must all be believable.” He usually paints scenes with great detail and “they take as long as they take,” he said. A larger painting, with “a lot that has to be expressed,” could mean thousands of brushstrokes and about a month of work (or more). He tries to work on one piece at a time. Sometimes, while working on a new piece, he’ll go back and add touches to a recently finished one. PHOTO convertible bridesmaid dress “I’ll muse about it and look at it in the corner while I work on something else,” he said. “It’s like working on a puzzle in your head.” He’s been working on artwork puzzles in his head since he started painting as a child. “I thought everyone did it,” he said. “You learn math and spelling and how to paint. I was already hooked when I realized that wasn’t the case.” It’s a tough, but rewarding life. “Being an artist is a noble calling,” he said. “It’s not easy. It requires enormous work. You have to know you may or may not make it. Sometimes, you’ll make it for a while and you’ll have lean times and you need to be prepared for it. You really have to be willing to know there’s going to be sacrifices.” Tish Ingersoll, Manager of the PAFA Alumni Gallery, appreciates his take on the artistic life and is happy to be able to showcase not only an alumnus, but a PAFA teacher. She curated the Toogood exhibit and loves his work. She thinks what he does with watercolor is amazing. “Some people put watercolor down and don’t take it seriously,” she said in a telephone interview. “His layering technique is labor-intensive although he makes it look like it isn’t. He has mastered the medium.” Ingersoll said the exhibit has a broad range. “The Bermuda paintings have such translucency,” she said. “The blues are gorgeous — cerulean, ultramarine. It’s a gorgeous play of that against the cityscapes we’ll have and his Venetian paintings.” She thinks his talent makes it easy for him to go “in any direction, no matter the subject,” she said. When she began putting the show together, she thought of just displaying cityscapes. “Then I went to his studio and said ‘I can’t just do that.’ His mastery of landscape is beyond belief,” she said. And though many scenes are representational, they’re really about light and texture and atmosphere, she said. “Viewers can take whatever they want from his work,” she said. “It’s not about the recognizable place, but where it can take you.” READ MORE beach bridesmaid dresses -
Okay So my wedding is planned for June 2016 in the Bahamas. I saw Breezes Bahamas and thought that would be a good idea. They are all inclusive and have a simple wedding for free. My Fiancee said that the place does not have the best reviews and that their wedding ideas look cheaply made. Any brides been there or having their wedding there? We are a small party and don't need a big over the top wedding. Any place that is all inclusive that is better in Nassau? Open to all suggestions. Thanks.

Hi all, I'm newly engaged (well about a month old - April 30th). My guy proposed to me on the beach at Now Larimar in Punta Cana the day after close friends of ours married. It was amazing and I was totally surprised, no idea it was happening at all! Anyways, we are doing destination wedding, all inclusive somewhere in Mexico. Haven't narrowed down what resort exactly yet, but looking for May 2016, family-friendly, not in the heart of the hotel zone in Cancun (we want a more resort feel rather than a bunch of high rises right next to each other), great beach for pictures of course and our ceremony location (possibly reception location), has to have night time entertainment/disco for dancing, we would prefer no reservations for the a la carte restaurants (we were spoiled at Now), and no wrist bands if possible = Dreams resorts seems to be the only one I know of that has the last 2 features. Are there any others? I'm sure there are a ton of other things I'm forgetting about our wants, and I also find myself thinking a lot about my guests and their wants/needs before my own vision, so I think this is why I'm having a super difficult time choosing a resort that hopefully has the date I am shooting for. Has anyone else had this issue? Also, reading both positiv and negative reviews for resorts, as well as previous brides' experiences are making it very difficult for me to choose a resort, as well. I'm worried I am going to pick a bad one or have an awful experience. I have been in contact with a TA from apple vacations and Beach Bums vacations, both of which have only responded to my inquiries a few times and I feel like time is a ticking and I need to get these save the dates out like yesterday for guests to start budgeting for their vacation next year. Any thoughts/suggestions/concerns greatly appreciated.

If you are looking for an amazing photographer for your destination wedding or for an unbelievably awesome trash the dress session---even if it's just your honeymoon you can not go wrong with using Christopher Lee with wpajamaica in Jamaica. He is sooooo fun and talented. There is no one else I would even consider. We had 2 trash the dress sessions with Chris. One at Rick's Cafe in Negril where my new husband and I jumped from the cliff taking the ultimate plunge in the wedding dress. The other was at Dunn's River Falls. The pictures in the waterfalls and on the beach were amazing. We had a blast taking our pictures and these memories are priceless to me. Everyone is in love with our pictures. The prices are reasonable as well and he doesn't make you feel rushed and he is willing to listen to what you want and does everything in his power to make your dream pictures a reality. The turn around time for receiving your pictures isn't months like I've heard some of the photographers are and his communication with you is easy as well. You will not be disappointed if you use Christopher Lee with wpajamaica. I promise you that.

We are just coming down from our post wedding high! There is nothing quite like it. I have been writing our wedding review but I wanted to write this post first to seek some advice from other past brides. Everything went well, there were some small glitches that I will write more about on our review, but essentially the experience was the best time of my life. It was a combination of the people who went, the beauty of the beach and resort that contributed to a perfect day. When we left the resort I started crying because I knew that I had just spent the best time of my life at this resort with a group of people that I may never have all together again. Our guests traveled from England, Peru, Spain, parts of Mexico,Toronto and Windsor so it's probably safe to say that they won't all be in the same room again. I have never felt an overwhelming feeling of happiness and gratitude as this before and the advice I took with me from previous brides was to stop and really take it in. There was a point where I was doing the bouquet toss and my dad's wife introduce a Mexican tradition which is to do a serpent dance (follow the leader type of dance) and all the women were wearing veils that she had made and they were dancing around me...everyone was so in the moment and so happy that at that moment I remember dancing and just thinking, like wow, we pulled it off...like we threw this epic wedding and we are so happy. I don't know if anything in life can top this happiness and if nothing else does I am ok with that because it was epic. I don't necessarily have post wedding blues - but I do feel a few regrets of things that I didn't get to do. I can't seem to let them go. My sister gave me a really pretty silver bracelet and I don't know why, but I didn't wear it the day of the wedding. I felt so bad. I know she wanted to gift me something to wear and I ended up wearing a bracelet that was significantly daintier and I just didn't want something too chunky. I have been seriously thinking of asking the photographer to Photoshop the bracelet in ...is this crazy?? probably. I just feel like i should have worn it. Another regret is that we didn't take shots with each bridal party member. like individual shots. It was like 40c and I think we were all just hoping to get out of the heat but now looking back I feel really bad that we don't have individual shots with each person in our wedding party. I'm actually really annoyed about it the more I think about it. I wish we had done different shots with the bridal party- maybe i'll feel different or better once i see the pictures. I don't know. ahh We did have group shots, and here is a sneak peek but not individuals Our photographer was great and started shooting Thursday night at our bachelor/bachelorette party and took a few candids friday night and then sat and Sunday and joined us on our trip to tulum. In total he said he has about 5000 pictures...I don't know if in the grand scheme of things it's a big deal not to have individual shots but for some reason I"m really bothered by it. The day we arrived there was a huge tropical storm and the wedding that took place that day had to totally move her outdoor wedding indoors and was very upset by this..i'm sure she is full of regrets so I know that I should be grateful for the beautiful day we had and move forward but I just wondered if anyone else had any similar feelings after their wedding. I'm sharing a few more shots. We ended up doing our own flowers and I saved soooo much money. I made our centre pieces and bouquets the night before. My bouquet and the gazebo flowers were included in our package so I didn't make those but the other ones were done by myself. I spent $250 canadian in flowers versus $1000 usd. score!! Any advice would be welcomed! I"m just trying to shake off these few things that I feel bad about.

Hello fellow brides/brides to be, I've been browsing through this site and have found it incredibly informative and useful. I would be extremely grateful if someone could shed some light on the questions/concerns I have. I am currently in the initial stages of organising my 2016 wedding in the Riviera Maya. I will be travelling all the way from Europe with my family (approx. 15 of us), some friends might join us but this is not a certainty as of yet. Initially I wanted to get married at the Grand Palladium, I love this resort. It was our first big holiday together as a couple and the resort itself is beautiful. I know my family would love it! Upon checking the difference wedding packages on offer by the Palladium and the Moon Palace I am noticing that the Palladium seems to be more expensive in terms of packages. The Moon Palace seems to offer more "free" stuff ie the Complimentary Package. Also, the dinner and the cocktail hour appears to be free; I would only need to pay for guests not travelling with the same Tour Operator as myself and for any extra hours. The music system is also a separate charge. I have been emailing back and forth and as most of you know whilst they are very helpful communication is delayed and at times not entirely clear. I was hoping someone could give me any advise or tips. Thank you. Jen

Although I didn’t post any threads while planning my wedding, I did use BDW on several occasions and feel as though I owe it back to post this thread as a review of my wedding and some things I would or wouldn’t change. Just FYI- it’s a long thread! I hope this helps some of you in your planning! Dress: I loved my dress. It was purchased on clearance at David’s Bridal- a choice I made knowing that I would be “trashing” it after the wedding. Still… it’s really not that trashed, and I still really love it. So win-win! There were no closets to hang this in on the airplane so I ended up laying it across the luggage stored overhead and it was totally fine. Secrets steamed the dress and my grooms outfit so I assume any wrinkles from travel would have been removed regardless. Bridesmaids: I had 5 bridesmaids, 4 of which came to Jamaica (one had a baby!). I told them to find any coral dress they wanted and it worked out perfectly. I’d be lying if I said waiting to see if the colors matched didn’t give me any anxiety though. It worked out great in the end! I made them monogrammed beach bags and filled these with a flower for their hair, sunglasses, a necklace and earrings in a travel jewelry roll, and I made them a jewelry dish, passport and luggage tag holders, and barefoot sandals. I also paid for half of their hairstyles at the resort. My girls are awesome! small DIY items: I am an art teacher and I had a lot of time and materials available to me. I did not want to pay the ridiculous prices for décor from the resort, so most of our details were made by me. These fans were purchased from Michael’s and put on each seat for the reception. I also bought these paper straws and made the little tags for them (not all of these on one straw!)- we put them at the bar and had the bartender put one in each drink. Being the art teacher I wanted to have paint brushes there. I kept seeing cute ones saying something about brushing away sand, which inspired our escort cards. Our favor for the wedding was a magnet. The photo on the front is a print of a painting I made from one of our photos of a past Secrets trip. Flowers: I stalked Hobby Lobby until their RealTouch flowers were 50% and bought all of my florals from there. It cost me $90 for my entire bouquet and 5 bridesmaids bouquets. That was the cost of ONE bouquet from the resort! And you wouldn’t be able to bring it home with you. I had these in my carry on and they travelled really well. Now they are in my living room. I really just grabbed a bunch that I liked and put them together. Love them! We did get a real rose boutonnière for my husband because I didn’t like the way mine came out. Oh well. It was $40 just for that though! Yikes. We used the florals included in the wedding package to decorate around the reception area. I added little charms to the girls’ bouquets with their initials and wrapped mine with a broach that I wore for my sister’s wedding. Centerpieces: Since we only had 3 tables and a sweet heart table, I decided to use the bridesmaid bouquets as the flowers in the centerpieces. This worked out AWESOME. I wrapped gray ribbon around a clean spaghetti jar and added the sand dollar with coral ribbon. I used a gold paint pen to write the table numbers. I made four of these and numbered 1-3, I left the last one blank incase one broke, but none did so I drew a heart on it and used it at our sweet heart table instead. Once there, we filled them with a little bit of sand at the bottom to help hold the flowers upright. I bought handkerchiefs for the centerpiece to sit on since everything the resort provides is white. We used fake tea lights because real ones would blow out on the beach, and instead of using glass votives I made little coral paper mache cups that were way less heavy. I made turquoise tiles stamped with starfish for the jar to sit on… these said Montego Bay on the back, and were scoffed up pretty quickly by our guests as the end of the night. Lastly, some pink gems and additional starfish/sand dollars were added for decoration. I put all of the candles in the mason jars and then wrapped them in bubble wrap in my carry on. Again, no problems at all! Nothing broke. We also didn’t bring any of this home except one jar. Welcome Bags: We brought all of this with us and assembled once we got there. The following were included: Welcome sign/door knocker, bookmark, tissues, suntan lotion and aloe packets, sweedish fish, hand sanitizer bandaids, gym, instagram signs, a note with when to be at the wedding, a mix CD of island songs, and granola bars. I found the welcome/door hanger signs somewhere online and recreated similar ones in Word. We didn’t include any drinks and not much food because it was an all-inclusive resort, but everyone seemed to really like the bags and appreciated the thought. We gave the bags to people as we saw them instead of paying the $4 fee per room delivery fee that the resort charges. Secrets Resort: This resort is absolutely beautiful. We were there on vacation in 2012 and decided that if we got married it would be there. Fast forward two years later, we got engaged and booked our wedding without further discussions. We used a travel agent to handle our trip because it was a group of 27 people! I highly suggest someone to handle all of the details for you so you have less to worry about. We were also upgraded to the preferred side of Wild Orchid when we arrived. The view from our room was incredible. Aside from the beauty of the resort, they are not incredibly easy to work with. I understand the whole concept of email taking a while to respond, but I was made to feel like a crazy bride pulling out all of the stuff we brought with us (or maybe I just really was a crazy bride???). There was also a very strict schedule the day of the wedding. The ceremony started at 5 but guests had to be in their seats by 4:30. There was a fee for every little thing. The only thing we rented from the resort were tiki torches. They do provide lights that look like lamp posts (but don’t tell you about it) so you probably don’t need the 12 we got. They were really good about setting everything up- it looked just how I had imagined it- and never charged us a set up fee at all. We had both the ceremony and the reception at the barracuda beach which is by the volley ball courts. Our photographer was amazing and covered the vendor fee, but we had to pay for her to have a guest pass to come back the next day to do a one hour trash the dress session. It was just a feeling of being nickel and dimed for every little thing when you were bringing the resort a ton of money with a group of people and a wedding. They did give us an extra room the night before the wedding for the groom to stay in. We decided to stay together anyway, so I used the extra room the next day to get ready in with my girl since it didn’t have the luggage clutter and he got ready with the groomsmen in our room since they didn’t really care. It worked out nicely. Myself and four girls used the resort spa for our hair and I also had my make up done because it was included in my package. This was all fine until we got out on the beach and it was super windy. The extensions started to come out. Luckily my mom is a retired hair dresser and was able to remove them and pin up what was left before the ceremony started. The make up was nice and stayed all night- a few weird things were: they lined my lips on the outside of them… making them look huge, they added black to my already dark eyebrows and I felt like Frida Kahlo, and they lined my eyes with eyeshadow instead of pencil. The brows they fixed right away by seeing my reaction, the other things were fine, just different. I wiped off the extra lips and lined my own eyes when we got back to the room. Our Photographer: By far, we spent the most amount of money in this area and it was 100% worth every penny. Misha Earle was incredible. She was so flexible creating the photo package that we wanted and our photos are stunning. I can’t stop looking at them! She kept us laughing all day long and was everything you could want in your wedding photographer. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a photographer in Jamaica. I did a lot of research before choosing her, and don’t regret it one bit. We did get photographs from the resort included in our package—and they are fine. But not comparable to Misha’s photos at all! (There was also a video included with our package… if not included, it would not have been worth the money. The quality is terrible and graphics are quite tacky.) Within 2.5 weeks of our wedding we could view the photos online and within a month we had our photos on a flash drive at our door. I can’t say enough great things about her! Cocktail Hour: We upgrade to the steel drum band for $200. From what I hear, they were awesome. We were off taking pictures with Misha so we only caught the very end of it. We did a first look before the ceremony (my favorite part of the day) so all of our bridal party could enjoy happy hour. DJ: We used the house DJ- I don’t actually know what his name is, but he was pretty good. We didn’t have a choice of who we wanted. He played all of the songs that we requested ahead of time and kept us dancing all night. I only wish we had met him ahead of time to go over the order of when things were happening. My brother in law sang and played our first dance song for us and he didn’t know he was about to play until he was announced. Minor details, but would have been nice to know ahead of time. He did bring a mic/stand and made sure he had the right guitar plug ins for us though, as requested through the weddings manager. The food was really good in the buffet. Some brides say that they don’t have time to eat at their wedding but we didn’t have any problems with that. J They gave us a personal waiter who made us plates from the buffet. We got chocolate for our cake flavor and that was really good. They wrap up the top of your cake and give it to room service so you can order it whenever you want for the rest of your trip. Our last night, we took the cake and a bottle of champagne to the beach and enjoyed what we could before we left! I made the wire cake topper, and we brought the ribbon (left over from my bouquet) with us which they added to the cake. We never got the cake topper back, but then again I never asked. The flowers pictures are the ones included from the hotel. ***********having trouble with the photo uploader... guess you'll have to visit Misha's website to see the cake! Welcome Party and Rehearsal: We didn’t do one, technically. I watched some other Secrets weddings on YouTube and basically just paired people up so they knew who to walk with. I walked with both of my parents and we had 4 girls, 6 guys so that was the only coordinating we really had to do. I tried to make reservations for the whole group ahead of time at hibachi. They wanted to charge us $30 a person to book this (at one of the resort restaurants, nothing private). So we didn’t book it. Once we were there we tried again with our hotel concierge and they made the reservation for 27 with no additional charge. Because it was hibachi the tables seated 10 each so it was a little divided, but it was nice to have everyone together this first night. I’m sure there are other things I’m forgetting, so feel free to ask away. You can see a feature of our photos from Misha at http://mishaearlephotography.com/#!/images/featured-weddings/courtney-matt-secrets-wild-orchid/ and if you click on slideshows the rest of them are there. I’ll post a few, just so you can get an idea of how seriously incredible she really is!

Anyone have any info on whether they have been given a group rate that matches with my own budget ($1200-$1500pp). I LOVE Now Larimar in Punta Cana, and the Majestic Colonal Punta Cana .. not so struck on any other resorts yet.. any feedback is appreciated :)

I just posted on my original newbie post beofre I realized there was a place to post about the wedding. Here is how it went for us. Thank you! -------------- Hola!!! (see? I can speak some spanish now! I wanted to write a quick follow up. My BIG day has come and gone. We were married (eloped) on Flamingo Beach in Costa Rica. Everything went perfectly. Our wedding planner was Catalina Cuervo from C.R. Referrals Travel. (www.costaricavacationexperts.com). They are located in Costa Rica and Catalina is the owner. She personally plans each wedding herself from what I was told. Catalina did an amazing job lining up the photographer, the officiate, and even arranged a candlelight chefs table on the beach. We had a private waiter and the head chef attending us, it was like it was from a storybook. We wanted something romantic but simple. We wanted to spend our money more on an amazing trip, not just all on the ceremony and Catalina made it all possible. From the moment we landed, we were taken very good care of. If you ever get to read this Catalina, Thank You! (I already sent her like 4 messages thanking her I found this website late in my planning but I did get some valuable advice in my reading. We ended up having to fiddle with the dates a little but it all worked out. Thanks to the encouragement of others, I did bring my mothers wedding dress and was married in it. She is no longer with us and this was so important to me. Thank you for your comments regarding the dress in another post I had done, it made it there and back again in one piece. I like to dream of my own daughter maybe using the same dress someday. 3 generations married in my family with the same dress would be wonderful. First, I need to have a daughter, we are working on that Here is what we did on our elope/adventure May ~15th ~ Day 1 ~ Arrival ~ Liberia airport • Private Transfer to Playa Flamingo - this took about a little over 2 hours to get to the resort • Flamingo beach Resort – Honeymoon Suite - Right on the beach, we loved the attention to service they had. May ~16th ~ Day 2 ~ Playa Flamingo ~ (B,L,D) • Catamaran & Snorkeling Tour - A lovely catamaran tour. We had hoped to see whales but did not, we did see dolphins and huge Manta Rays jumping out of the water! The sunset was beautiful and it was a nice introduction. May ~17th ~ Day 3 ~ Playa Flamingo ~ (B,L,Private dinner on the beach) • Wedding Day!!!!!!!! • 2:00pm Couples Massage - who does not like a massage? • 3:30pm Hair & Makeup - This was handled by the resort and coordinated with our wedding planner Catalina • 4:30pm Photographer - We had some pre ceremony photos, during and after • 5:20pm wedding on the beach – ceremony - We had some touch and go moments on the weather, but in the end we got the beach wedding we wanted • legal wedding officiate - arranged by Catalina • 6:15 Wedding Dinner – private chef’s table on the beach - This was magical, this was an 8 course tasting menu prepared by the head chef. He personally delivered each course along with our private waiter. I felt like royalty at this point in the day. May ~18th ~ Day 4 ~ Playa Flamingo ~ (B,L,D) • Buena Vista Combo Tour - This was an adventure day. The tour included several fun activities including horseback riding, canopy tours, hanging bridges, volcanic mud baths, it was heavenly May ~19th ~ Day 5 ~ Playa Flamingo ~ Arenal ~ (B,L) • Private transfer to Arenal - this was a long transfer, about 5 hours almost with a stop we made for lunch and at a road side fruit stand. • Check in Silencio del Campo – cabin/villa - Loved, loved, loved this small hotel. It has hot springs that are heated from Arenal Volcano, wonderful volcano views, it was just lovely and so nice to soak in the hot springs each night. May ~20th ~ Day 6 ~ Arenal ~ ( • Safari Float - A nice river float, we saw monkeys, sloths, many birds, it was a nice relaxed day. May ~21st ~ Day 7 ~ Arenal ~ (B,L) • Canyoneering & River Rafting - This was our final day of adventure. It included rappelling down waterfalls in the rainforest and then rafting down rapids in a river! It was an intense day but SO much fun. Both my HUSBAND (love saying that word now) and I are nature lovers, and adventure seekers. This was the perfect ending to our Adventure/Elopement/Honeymoon May ~22nd ~ Day 8 ~ Departure ~ ( ~ Liberia • Private Transfer to Airport - The trip back to the airport took about 3 hours. I am waiting on the final photos from the photographer, that is probably the only negative. We have the preliminary photos, they look good but I want to post the final touched up pics when we get them. It should be soon, there is a 3 month turn around on touched up final photos. To anyone wanting to get married or elope in another country, do it! The entire trip cost us about $6000 with airfare. We calculated getting married back at home, after the venue and wedding plans it would have cost us a fortune, the way we did it we had a wonderful celebration of our love and had money left over Thank you for your time in answering my questions and bless everyone who enters into marriage, I hope your lives together are special beyond words. If I can help anyone with any questions I would be more than happy. XXOO, - Photos coming soon!!! Cassidy

Hi All I am getting married at Moon Palace this October, have chosen a beach wedding and have been allocated the Caribbean Beach spot, I have also chosen the Caribbean Rooftop Terrace, recommended by Alejandra at the hotel. We have decided to go with Dreamart for photo and video as the ouside vendors with the fee was working out too expensive. We chose 5 hours photo and 4 hours video to ensure we capture the getting ready, wedding ceremony, cocktail hour and reception. Any thought or tips on this? We are currently thinking about DJ or IPod. Also decor for the ceremony, I am thinking to go with the white tables and chairs and add some colour with sashes and table runners, was also considering taking my own. Has anyone doen this before and were you charged to have these set up? Any tips and ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks Surekha

Our wedding is 3 weeks from today and I can't believe how fast it's sneaking up on us! From day one we were not planning on having video service at our wedding. It was even an included option in our wedding package but every video I watched I was left feeling "eh" and that we don't need video. I also kept thinking that we are going to have amazing photographs to swoon over. BUT THEN... I was introduced to a specific videographer's work and after viewing his work (@@KayRae <3 I have you to thank!), I felt so compelled to reach out him them directly- seriously, I cried when I watched his videos of strangers- crazy but made me want to have our wedding day captured on film so much more! Because we weren't planning on having this service, we have not budgeted for it and it's definitely a splurge. Planning a destination wedding has proven to cost more than we had anticipated and I made some great sacrifices with flowers and decor to keep our wedding budget in check and I keep telling myself that our day will be beautiful regardless. We have an amazing photography team coming with us from home and I know that they will do a magnificent job photographing our day and we will have those memories to look back on. I'm just not sure what to do and would appreciate thoughts and advice from other brides.

Hello! i wanted to give a review to whoever wants to read one because i found these extremely helpful when I was planning my wedding at the Grand Sunset Princess. Sorry for typos/disorganization of thoughts because I'm typing super fast We had our wedding at the grand sunset princess on June 7th, 2014. My husband and i stayed there for 2 weeks, our guests stayed anywhere from 5 to 9 days. We booked with apple vacations through all inclusive vacations and resorts in denver, colorado. Most of our guests came from denver, although some came from different states, and even my grandma came from India! We had 45 guests total. When we all got to the resort we were pretty blown away. My husband and I were so excited right away. The grounds are so well taken care of and beautiful. The resort is massive and looks like a big palace. The lobby is open on all sides so you can see outside and feel the fresh humid air...It's awesome and so pretty. All of our rooms were fairly close depending on what room category each of our guests were in. Although the resort is huge, it was not hard to find people or get a hold of people for the most part. It was so fun to be able to walk along the walkway from the lobby to the beach and see people I know here and there from our wedding party. It was like being in a little town with all of your friends and family. All of our guests told me how amazing they thought the resort was. The staff was so nice and so attentive and helpful. The food was great and our fridges were stocked with water, beer, and soft drinks each day and our room was cleaned very well. All of the rooms were great. We saw the swim up, regular, and platinum rooms and they all were pretty spacious and nice and clean. The pools were so much fun, and so was the beach! We all loved it. I started planning my wedding last August 2013 and Guillermo was my wedding planner. He was/is AMAZING. I loved him. Let me just tell you first of all I was not very happy with him taking a week or even two sometimes to respond to my emails, but then again I did email him very often with different questions and requests. When I got to the resort he was standing there waiting for me to check in. He was so nice and welcoming. He took us to the wedding coordinator office and brought out a book or binder with everything I asked for and started asking last minute questions. After that I felt so good about everything! He knew my style exactly and I totally trusted him and felt less stressed right away. He was soooo good and I would highly, highly recommend him! The wedding day was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING to say the least! We had our ceremony at the Sunset Gazebo and the reception was at the Chill Out Beach Club. I highly, highly, recommend this combination because the sunset gazebo is basically part of the chill out beach club. I know it seems pricy to have the private chill out club reception but it is SO WORTH IT! I can't stress that enough. The ceremony was beautiful and it was set up exactly how I wanted it. Now for the reception, it was private in the chill out beach club restaurant. The dinner was amazing, we chose the caribbean buffet. the drinks were amazing. the staff was so, so attentive and filled our drinks as soon as they were empty. everything went so smoothly and i was so pleased. The tables were decorated beautifully. I used our bridesmaids bouquets for centerpieces and they were placed in a cylinder vase with sand at the bottom and floating candles around. We also used the flowers from the ceremony as centerpieces for the head table. For 45 people, we had our head table with me and my husband, our bridal party, and then 5 round tables in front of us. Guillermo was so great, he added little candles and floating flowers in vases with water for centerpieces without telling me and I loved them! He knew exactly what I wanted. It was so pretty outside at the chill out beach club and having a private dinner with all your guests in that outdoor restaurant on the beach during sunset is truly amazing. After dinner, we cut the cake and had dessert and then went to the dance floor- we opted for the light up dance floor in the sand on the beach. The DJ played great music and my husband and I and our guests danced ALL night (even Guillermo came and danced with us )! We also opted for an extra hour, so we did 6pm-11pm and it was really worth it too. The staff brought us out drinks like crazy. They would bring out trays of tequila shots and our friends and family like to have a good time so....we drank a lot of tequila! It was so much fun! As for hair and make-up, I chose The Styling Trio. i researched this forever because I am so picky about my hair and make up. My hair gets really frizzy and poofy in humidity and I don't like to wear a lot of make up in humidity either. They did an AMAZING job. Adrian did my makeup and Angie did my hair. I will attach a link to our photos below. I saw in the forums that people feel like the styling trio is a little expensive, but believe me, just like about the chill out party-the styling trio is soooo worth it!! I chose Dean Sanderson as the photographer. You have to pay an extra $200 to the resort for an external photographer. I am so glad I chose him! he was so, so good. I also researched this forever....because i knew i would look at my wedding photos forever and be showing them to all of our friends back home that could not make it. So many people commented on how great the photos were. He does a great job of capturing the details and the moment. I love every single photo he took! He got photos of things I didn't even realize...loved it!!!! I highly recommend him. Super easy to work with and you barely knew he was there. I don't think I've ever looked so good in a picture in my life! Haha As you can see...i was so incredibly pleased with our wedding, the resort, and the vendors we used. They were all SO amazing! I am very picky about things and every single thing was exactly how i imagined it, or even better. Here is a link to our facebook album of our wedding. Even if you don't have FB, you should be able to view it. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10202993341609483.1073741825.1082610060&type=1&l=27b713ac30 Feel free to ask me any questions! I am happy to answer anything! https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10202993341609483.1073741825.1082610060&type=1&l=27b713ac30

After 3 site visits in February (Royalton, Rose Hall and Riu Montego Bay and Lady Hamilton) we decided that the resort we didn't get to visit would be our destination wedding. We will be getting married on May 9th 2016 and would love to get any feedback from all brides who have been married at Riu Tropical Bay or are planning to get married there in 2016 if they have any advice or reviews regarding this resort. We plan to have over 50 guests and will have to have a private beach reception. We have read that the cocktail hour and reggae band for the reception was not worth it. We have a mixed group of families, couples and singles and hope this resort will cater to our group. IF you have any pictures that you could share with us please email deeandbryJamaica2016@@gmail.com We are wondering what photographers, flowers did you all use? Any extras pricing that wasn't included in the package (i.e. we are going to rent the dj equipment but will have our own dj traveling with us) How was the weather? Do we need to bring bug spray since the reception will be on the beach? Did you have a beach party/welcome party? Pricing for excusions (i.e catamaran to Rick's cafe) Any help would be much appreciated. The countdown is on... We are both tremendously excited. Dianne

Hello, I am curious if there are any other brides currently planning their wedding at this Dreams location? See, I booked my wedding September of last year and we were working with the coordinator, Jacki, and she was WONDERFUL! Unfortunately, she left (not sure what happened...) and since January we have been working with the new coordinator, Areli. I have been SO unhappy with her! She does not respond to my emails at all and on the rare occassion that she has responded it has been something very short and unhelpful. I have been trying to get with her to book a lot of stuff for the weekend (dinners, band, etc.) you would think she would want the commission but she has ignored my emails. Anyone else working with her on their wedding and if so, how is the communication? I feel like I am being a bridezilla because I keep sending management complaints about her but we are looking to spend a lot of money here and I feel like we are being ignored and like our money doesn't matter here.

Hello everyone, Looking for a little info and advise. Could someone tell me what the main differences are between the Moon Palace and the Beach Palace. Are these both located in the same resort, are they different hotels? Also, could someone please tell me what their beaches are like? A good beach is a make or break for me. I love the beach so I really would love a good beach. I've read some comments that the beach is not very good and I'm a little concerned. Thanks in advance
