  1. @@TinkerSofi I LOVE your dress! I love the lace detail! I also love the colour and style of your bridesmaids dresses. I think a corset back will look amazing (I'm biased as I love the corset back). My hands and fingers swell in the heat as well! I don't know how the ring will go on my finger either lol. I think I'll do what you are going to do, drink lemon water and stick my hand in a bucket of ice lol Love your idea for favours! I also think that since people are spending so much to come and celebrate your big day they should get something in return. I love the sarongs! I think the girls will love them and use them and I love the print. Where did you get them from if you don't mind me asking? I'm thinking of giving them to my bridesmaids. You're not alone with worrying, I changed my wedding timeline so much since I booked because I was worried about not having enough time for photos, the time of dinner, ect.
  2. Now I'm just having a hard time with the time line lol. I just hope it all makes sense.
  3. @@acw271011 Thank you for sharing your experience and your advice I really do appreciate it! Thanks for the support. I always knew that my weight was a problem, but I guess I was in denial for a while as I didn't think I was unhealthy. It was definitely a hard pill to swallow when my doctor told me how much weight I needed to lose. It was a huge wake-up-call for me, but I know that I definitely need to do something. Since I got my diagnoses last week I've made major lifestyle changes. I now am careful with what I eat, so I'm sticking to a lower calorie diet. I also eat more veggies and limit my carbs, dairy, and fruit. I've been very sedentary for the last year, so I started going for 30-60 minute walks everyday to get some exercise.
  4. This is so great and so helpful! I always said that I would post a review of my wedding since day one. I find that it's really hard for Cuban brides, such as myself, to find reviews on our resorts as there aren't that many of us. It's a little scary to be planning a wedding so far away and with e-mail being the only medium through which I can communicate with my wedding coordinator. I hope that my experience can help at least one bride out there. Great tips for writing reviews! I can't imagine facing legal action after my wedding. But I feel that if a vendor does not offer good service they do deserve a negative review. Vendors should take negative reviews as constructive criticism to improve their businesses.
  5. I love your story! It's just like a movie. You engagement story is beautiful, third time really was the charm. I chose my own engagement ring too. I also think finding a resort is the hardest part of planning I was pulling my hair out over it! I'm glad that, that part of planning is long gone for me. I love your colour, it's so unique and gorgeous! I initially wanted the vintage elegance theme for my wedding too. I creeped your website lol and you did a fantastic job! Gave me some ideas that I should incorporate into mine. Oh wow, you made your own invitations! Kudos to you girl! They look amazing! I love your wedding band and e-ring conbination. I agree with you on the flowers they can get really expensive! Especially here in Canada. What kind of flowers are you hoping to get for your bouquet? I have shell bouquets that I got for free when I bought my dress, but I'm thinking about doing real flowers for everyone. I think the flower prices are lower for Cuba, but selection is limited. I want calla lillies, but if they don't have that my back up is roses. I love the terrace idea! I wanted to get married on a terrace initially, but I just loved the idea of being on the beach. Those cookies look delicous your guests will love them.
  6. I was definitely feeling the pressure, especially from my MIL. She hasn't been accepting of our choice to have a destination wedding and she's been difficult from the start which is a little frustrating. She kept pushing for an at home wedding until I told her about having an AHR and she became fixated on that instead. Initially I wanted an AHR to celebrate with everyone who couldn't make it to my wedding, but after trying to plan it on my own I realized that the cost would pretty much be as much as my wedding alone! Then there was the issue of when to have it I didn't want to do it right after we got back or around any major holidays. I also didn't want to have too many events and keep asking people to take time off for my wedding. My MIL just decided to start planning it and pretty much just wanted to turn it into a wedding! I got really frustrated because I felt that our wishes weren't being honoured. I thanked her for her enthusiasm about our wedding and for coming up with great ideas and as much as we appreciate her input we would like to ultimately make the decisions. Anyways, long story short we are not having one now.
  7. I'm getting married at the Iberostar Varadero on September 24, 2015
  8. I'm so excited to start my planning thread. I noticed that some brides had issues posting and they spent a long time writing their posts too only to not have them get posted. I'm writing mine on Word then I'll post it just so I don't have that issue. My journey has been a long one so it's really long and I went into nitty gritty details too.
  9. @@Msmimi I chose to go with a local TA because my fiance said that it would make things easier because we could go see him face to face. Honestly, we've only been in once to see him so far to pay our deposits other than that all other communication has been over the phone or through e-mail. I like my TA as a person he's not a bad guy or anything, but if I were to do it over again I would choose a previous destination bride to be my TA. My current TA didn't know anything about the marriage requirements of the country we're getting married in and he supposedly specializes in destination weddings. Personally I expected him to at least know that.
  10. @@MrandMrsBonitto2016 Thanks for the tip hun! I'll definitely check it out. Thanks for all the advice hun! I feel like I have so much to learn still, but I'm happy to hear that I can still have a normal life and do the things that I want to do, especially having kids. I also had my period for a whole month when I was 13, I was off of school for two weeks because of it, but the doctors didn't do anything for me and pretty much just told me to wait it out.
  11. @@deecol I'm sooo glad I didn't book with them. I've been hearing a lot of awful things about them. The quote I got from another company was also cheaper so I decided to not book with RP. I might take a chance and book a honeymoon through them though.
  12. I am! I've used it before to lose weight and it was very effective for me. I just started again today. There's an app for it as well so that you can make entries on the go.
  13. September 24, 2015, at Iberostar Varadero, Cuba! It's coming up so quickly.
  14. @@TinkerSofi Thanks so much hun! It's all so new to me and I'm happy to know that I'm not alone. Thanks for the reassurance. I'm happy that I'm not completely infertile and that there are ways that I can still get pregnant. In the past when I put my mind to it I usually lose about 2 lbs. a week if I really stick to it. I put weight on really quickly though. I've gained 15 lbs. since the new year. I will admit that I haven't had healthy habits in the past year, but I'm defiitely going to make a change. For the past few days I've been watching my caloric intake and making sure that I'm eating healthy foods. I've also started going on 30-60 minute walks everyday as I heard that exercise is important when you have PCOS. I also grow hair on my face. I've also always had great skin, but lately I notice that I break out a lot more than I used to. What kinds of medications do the doctors put you on for PCOS? Do the cysts ever go away? Also I've been getting pain in my right ovary is that normal?
  15. @@calgarybride2015 Thanks so much hun! I'm in Canada. I finally went to my family doctor after not having my period for 9 months. He ran blood work and saw that I wasn't ovulating. He sent me to see a gynocologist that concluded the same thing. I went for a pelvic and transvaginal ultrasound today and my technician said that she saw the cysts too. My gynocologist prescribed these pills that I have to take for 7 days and I think it's supposed to give me a period. I'm supposed to see him in a month. Until then he told me to make some major lifestyle changes to lose weight. I would really appreciate some resources so that I can learn more about the condition. I just feel really defeated at the moment with this and gaining back most of the weight I had previously lost.
  16. Thanks for the clarification! I love this forum and I wouldn't want to be banned from it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Hi Ladies! I'm not sure if I'm posting this on the right board, but I was diagnosed with PCOS a few days ago and I'm having a hard time trying to wrap my head around everything. Does anyone else have this condition? My main concern is that I want to try for a baby after my wedding in September, but I was told by my doctor that I can't have kids. Is it possible to have children if you have PCOS? Having children is very important to me, and I'm not sure if it is possible. My doctor told me that I have to lose around 100 lbs. this is really scary for me as I don't know if I can do it. I heard that losing weight with PCOS is very hard to do. Is anyone else struggling with this? Anyways, my diagnoses is still so fresh to me and I'm so confused with everything. I know that I have to sit down and research it, but for right now I don't want to feel alone and I just want to know if there are others out there.
  18. Oh I guess I didn't mention it properly in my first post, sorry about that. But yes she's already a bridesmaid. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk She didn't book with my travel agent because of the price and she thought she would get accepted to Grad school and wasn't sure about coming. In the past few months she's been more excited than I have lol. She's definitely helped me out a bunch so I feel like she deserves it. Also she's the only maid that's on my side. The other bridesmaids are my fiancé 's friends. A lot of people who didn't book with my TA said they would book on their own she hasn't booked yet though. I think she's waiting for last minute deals. 19. Awesome! Congrats Hun! I haven't seen very many September brides. I find most brides are January or April. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. I'm the same way! I hesitate so much when making decisions because I'm so afraid of making the wrong one.
  21. Hi Brides: So I have a bridal party, but I chose not to have a MOH because I didn't want the disappointment of my MOH not being able to make it to my wedding and because I didn't want to put the friendship of one girl above the others. Anyways, one of my girls (we've been friends since middle school) she hasn't booked with my TA for my wedding, but says she's coming and she's already bought her outfit and stuff already. She has been super helpful to me through my planning process. I wasn't planning on having a bridal shower because I've had a rough year and I just don't have the budget to throw one for myself. My mom had offered to throw one for me, but she bought a house and has to pay the government back for income taxes this year, so she said that she no longer can because she can't afford it. So my bridesmaid wants to throw me one and organize my bachelorette for me which I think is really nice. I'm starting to think that I should ask her to be my MOH officially because she's been doing so much for me. What do you girls think?
  22. People keep asking me that too! I live with my fiance and we already have everything we need, we also have a small apartment. I agree with you that scanning things would be fun!
  23. @@beckys98 haha we totally should! My fiance tried to convince me that I don't need a wedding dress... Mine tried to convince me that I don't need a wedding dress...
  24. @@MrandMrsBonitto2016 I was in your shoes before and time feels like it will go so slow. Since I hit the 6 month mark time has just been flying by! I get excited for other brides too and I often creep planning threads.
  25. @@kcole123 I just finished creeping yours! It's what made me ask this question lol. I loved reading yours I felt like I could relate to you on so much! And your pictures were AMAZING! Congrats on your wedding. I'll probably start mine soon. I'm finding that I'm really getting into the thick of it now and I'm doing more planning now than I've done since I've started planning. @@TinkerSofi Thanks hun! I was thinking that I should probably start it now as I feel like I've been doing a lot more planning since I hit the 5 month mark. I'm the first in my family to have a DW and I've never been to a DW before so I have no idea what I'm doing and reading other threads really does help. I'm going to creep your thread =p @@veryvalentine Thanks for the advice hun! Ever since I started visiting this form I was looking forward to starting a planning thread. Since I've been finding I'm getting into the thick of planning I think now is an appropriate time to start. Your wedding is coming up really soon! I can't wait to be where you're at! I'm definitely reading your planning thread. @@acw271011 Thanks hun! You're so right! I'm finding myself spending more and more time wedding planning and going crazy! I've been waiting for the day to start mine! I'll be starting it soon for sure. I'm also going to look for your thread! I love reading them.
