  1. @@TinkerSofi I was really hesitant about the gifts thing because I already live with my fiance and we already have everything. I also decided to go through with it so that everyone can meet. In retrospect it was a great idea everyone had fun and no one seemed awkward or anything. It is really weird when it hits you all of a sudden lol. I'm so used to going to other peoples Bridal Showers and weddings that it was so weird to have the attention on me. How are you feeling? You're leaving on Sunday, right? I'm so excited for you!!! @@calgarybride2015 Thanks hun! I know it feels so surreal. @@acw271011 Thanks hun! I thought it was so cute! I know time is just flying by. Your vow renewal is coming up really soon too!
  2. Great advice! My wedding is coming up next month and I was stuck on what to write for my vows. Thanks for the inspiration!
  3. I can be there at around 5 or 5:15 ish along with the other downtown brides to reserve a table.
  4. Count me in! August 14, 2015, 7 p.m. at O&B right?
  5. Hi Nicole! Congrats and welcome! This forum has been super helpful to me during my planning. I've been on here since February, 2013 and my wedding is coming up next month. I found so many helpful tips and advice. I also found a lot of support from a lot of the brides on here when I was going through tough or stressful situations. The brides here are amazing! Feel free to ask all the questions you want!
  6. Oh no, I'm sorry to hear about your stress. I hope things calm down a bit for you so you have time to finish the tasks you need to. At the end of the day everything will be fine. You've put so much work into your wedding that I'm certain everything will turn out just the way you want it to. I can't believe you're leaving in 9 days! Are you working up until you leave or did you take time off before? P.S. I'm so happy for you! And I can't wait to see pictures of everything!
  7. @@acw271011 Yes, the dress I'll be wearing for my wedding is the lace one =) Sorry for the confusion. Bridal Shower: I was hoping I would have time last week to post this, but life got in the way =p We've been busy trying to sort and organize our apartment. Last week was my bridal shower and we got a TON of gifts that we are thankful for, but wondering where to put them in our apartment. Last Sunday was my Bridal Shower and it was amazing! My friends, bridesmaids, mom, and family put so much work into it and it definitely paid off. I was so overwhelmed by the love and work that went into it all. I initially didn't want a bridal shower because I didn't want anyone to go through the trouble of spending money on gifts or anything because we are asking people to pay so much to come to our wedding. When I asked my mom (who just bought a new house) she had said no because she didn't have the money for it. I thought of throwing one for myself, but then I didn't have the money because I wasn't working at the time. When it came to my wedding I felt that I had to skip a lot of the traditions that I wanted because people have to pay so much to attend my wedding and I felt like they wouldn't want to be burdened with the little things that can be done at home (bridal shower, bachelor party, ect.). I have some family members that are pressuring me into things because they have to pay so much to come to my wedding, so they want a say in it (the timeline, ceremony, ect.). Anyways, back to my Bridal Shower =p It was fantastic! My cousins made/bought all of my favourite pastries and they made all these beautiful little touches! It was an Alice in Wonderland Tea Party Theme. Instead of a guestbook everyone signed a tea pot I kept as a keepsake, we had games with prizes, lots of food, I got amazing gifts (which I really didn't expect, but I am so grateful for), and most importantly a lot of people got to meet before we head down for the wedding. It really hit me at my Bridal Shower that I am getting married really soon and I couldn't be happier! 53 days till my wedding and still so much to do!
  8. That time works for me. I work downtown near the Eaton's centre and personally I don't mind waiting around the city for a bit so that others have enough time to get downtown.
  9. I'm at 250 Yonge. It's attached to Eaton's centre. I take the Milton train everyday. I take the train from Erindale. In the morning I get the 6:58a.m. train and in the evening from union I take the 4:50p.m. train any train after that one is so busy!
  10. @@acw271011 Thanks hun! Sorry I haven't read a lot of the posts yet, I still need to catch up =p I followed the topic, so I'll be able to see updates as they become available. I'm so excited to meet you, we live and work pretty close to each other too! I work near Queen and Bay.
  11. Thanks! So it's August 14 at O&B (Yonge and Front)? Do we have a time yet?
  12. Hi Ladies! I know I'm a little late on this, I just saw this post now. I would LOVE to meet you all as I've been reading a lot of your posts and planning threads. Is there room for one more? I know it's really last minute, so I understand if I can't join in. I work downtown and I live in Mississauga, so getting to downtown Toronto isn't a problem for me.
  13. Amazing review. I definitely think that it will help future destination brides thinking about getting married at Secrets Wild Orchid. Congrats on your marriage. Your wedding day looked perfect. I've never been to Jamaica before, but I've heard fabulous things and we're hoping to go for our one year anniversary.
  14. Just saw the picture of the dress you went with. I honestly love it! I love the keyhole back and I can't wait to see everything all together. I love the sparkle in your veil as well! I'm sorry to hear about your subway accident. I hope you're feeling better. I take the subway everyday and there are so many people pushing and shoving and it's just downright packed. Did you end up getting the petals for your shoes yet? I bought petals for a pair of shoes I have at "Call it Spring" they have a bunch of shoe accessories that make wearing heals comfortable (or in my case bearable). Everything seems like it's really coming together for you!
  15. Wow that's a crazy amount of over time! I used to do that when I worked in Personal Injury. I'm sorry to hear about your health issues, I hope you don't need to have surgery. I really love the idea of the key card holders and the card on the outside looks amazing!
  16. I have PCOS too and I also grow some facial hair. I thought about doing the laser treatments, but was hesitant because of the price. I'm sorry to hear about your experience and now that you're so close to leaving this is probably the last thing you need. Are you still thinking about eyelash extensions? I've seen some brides have it done and it looks really awesome. Our best "woman" is a make-up artist who is doing my makeup for free and I'm doing fake lashes. We did them at my trial and they looked really good and natural. Good luck hun!
  17. Sorry to hear about your son. Your favours look awesome! I think your colours are so pretty. I love roses and callas too, I'm hoping that they are in stock in Cuba when I'm there for my wedding. Good luck with the DIY, i'm sure it will be amazing. I've seen some brides do some incredible things. I wish I could have done a lot of DIY, but I'm no good at that stuff. Oh wow! Your dress looks stunning! I love the look of a keyhole back! I also really love the ruffles. I can't wait to see a picture of you in the dress.
  18. Thanks so much hun! I'm planning on selling my old one too to see if I can get some money back. I'm just happy that in the end it all worked out. Thanks so much hun! I initially wanted a lace dress as I feel it really compliments my romance vision and I think it will look stunning on the beach. My new dress is very light-weight and really comfy. Thanks for the advice with my PCOS, since I've been working I haven't really been doing much about it aside from starting birth control pills. Yogesh is really amazing! I would definitely recommended him to other brides in the Mississauga/Oakville area. I loved the pictures of the lace dresses on your thread.
  19. The Dress: I always thought that this was going to be the best part of wedding planning for me and that I was going to be that bride with the HUGE entourage at the bridal boutique. I also thought that I would burst into tears when I found “the one.” This WAS NOT my experience. I will admit that trying on dresses is fun, but I didn’t have the experience I envisioned. I went to David’s Bridal about three months after getting engaged just to try on dresses (I was still in the Newly engaged stage where I just wanted to immerse myself in all things wedding). I brought my fiancé and two of my best friends/bridesmaids. I tried on about 4 dresses and fell in love with two (one was a satin A-Line and the other was a Lace fit and flare). I really loved the fit and flare silhouette on my body it really showed off my curves. I loved all the dresses and I could see myself getting married in each one. As a child I always wanted a satin ball gown with lots of pickups and bling, but I just couldn’t see that vision on the beach. After trying on the Lace dress I was dead set on lace and thought I had my dress picked out. Or so I thought… After we booked our wedding in August, 2014, I knew that I had to start looking for dresses. I saw a post on social media of a woman selling a size 18 satin, A-Line, ivory dress with beading for $300! I just had to message her for more details as this could be it! I arranged to meet her at her house with my mom. The moment I saw myself in the dress I knew it was the one! It needs some alterations, but it’s perfect! I ended up giving the woman who sold it to me $350.00, because she also threw in the bag for the dress and some lovely shell bouquets. I was having a bad hair day when this was taken lol. The Drama: I took the dress to be altered a few weeks ago and was told that the alterations would cost almost as much as a new dress! Also, the seamstress had told me that she needed to add material and couldn’t guarantee that she could match the colour of my dress and she could not replicate the bead work on my dress (so I’d have a patch of dress that was just plain and potentially a few shades off from the rest of my dress). I was devastated! I fell in love with the dress I bought, and to be honest being about 2 months away from my wedding date I was really stressed out. I think I cried for the whole day about it. Since it’s really close to my wedding and I’m really stressed out with what I have to do, I opted to buy a new dress. I went to David’s Bridal with my cousins and my mom and found the dress of my dreams. I’m much happier with my new dress. It’s an ivory, lace, sheath, with a sweet heart neckline. After buying the new dress, jewelry, veil, and belt I am now very over-budget on my bridal attire. A fact I feel I just have to suck up. I’ve already bought everything for the wedding, so it’s really hard to try to stay on budget. I think I may have to make some sacrifices when I get to Cuba and skip on some of the upgrades I initially wanted. Sorry guys, I forgot to attach the pictures in my last post.
  20. @@acw271011 I loved reading your story. I knew that you and Doug had some health issues, but I didn't know the full extent of it. I cried at multiple points while reading your story. You guys have been through so much. You truly are a strong woman, it's evident through you perseverance and determination. Also, all of your challenges have only helped to strengthen your relationship. I'm happy to hear you're both doing well. I think it's awesome that you guys are having a vow renewal you definitely deserve it! I think of vow renewals as being the same as a wedding. I've missed so much on your thread I definitely have some catching up to do! Love everything I see so far.
  21. @@TinkerSofi It's so great that you're relaxed. You have put so much work into your wedding and you've been really detailed and organized. It's really paying off since you're not rushing to do stuff. I love your gremlin comment lol you're so funny. I totally understand the struggle of letting hair grow in so you can get it waxed/plucked ect. Congrats on your new house the possession date works out really well for you too! Love your quote it's so beautiful. I love that movie! I haven't even started writing speeches or anything yet. Sorry to hear about your wedding nightmares. If it's any consolation, I've been having them too (I'm exactly 2 months away from my wedding). In my most recent nightmare I forgot to bring my wedding dress with me! I think your bridesmaid is smart to have her dress taken out a bit to enjoy herself.
  22. @@TinkerSofi You totally took the words out of my mouth when you said "I realize that every time I check one thing off my list, another 5 come up" that's how I feel right now with less than 2 months till we leave! @@Meandhim OMG I'm so sorry to hear about your situation! I can't imagine what you're feeling right now. Hopefully it all gets resolved and everything works out for the best. I'm really happy to hear that everything worked out with AC. I haven't been on your thread in a while, so I was just doing some catching up. I can't wait to see more from you.
  23. @@TinkerSofi The jewelry looks amazing! Everything for your wedding looks amazing so far. I'm glad your bridal shower went well. Mine is on Sunday and I'm really nervous, but excited about it at the same time. I'm hoping that it serves as an ice breaker for everyone coming to my wedding too as most of them haven't met. When I first moved in with my fiance I was really homesick as I had never moved out before. It's a little scary at first, but then I remembered that I'm living with the person I'll be spending the rest of my life with, the person I love and that made me feel a little more comfortable. It was also weird to not see my family everyday and that took some getting used to. I still miss living at home once in a while (mostly because my mom did most of the cooking and with my fiance I do all the cooking and cleaning). I'm so excited for you. I can't believe it's down to days till your wedding! I hope you post pictures! I want to hear about all the details too. I hope I don't sound creepy lol.
  24. @@RivieraBride15 I'm sorry to hear about your brother, I can't imagine what you must have went through. I really admire your strength and courage to remain positive and make the best of the situation. I think it's amazing that your mom will walk you down the aisle, that's something special you'll share for the rest of your lives. I wish you all the best on your special day!
  25. Thanks for sharing your story hun! I'm glad to know that I'm not alone. I'm hoping that I'll be able to sell mine. I'm nervous because I bought it second hand to begin with and I'm not sure if brides will be iffy about that. I'm sure you'll be able to sell yours. You might not get exactly what you paid for it. When I bought my old dress second-hand the woman who sold it told me she originally paid $1,100.00, for it, but wasn't able to get a buyer (me) until she dropped it down to $300.00.
