  1. Ok, that's good to know! I'm just going to start that today because I'm done with Canada Post. My necklace was in Calgary yesterday and all of a sudden today is in Richmond BC. WTF??! It seriously isn't rocket science to deliver a package to the right place. I'm so frustrated right now! Does anyone know who I can contact to make sure they don't deliver it to the wrong place?
  2. @@calgarybride2015 I checked paypal, it seems that they do offer that service but I have to find out whether if I open the dispute it would be with the seller. I don't want to get her in trouble because she sent it and it's not her fault. I need to do some more research.
  3. We ended up going with Tamara Jones and we're getting married July 7th, so pretty much in exactly one month! In hindsight we probably could have gone with someone a bit cheaper but my mom was like "this is the day that counts!" etc, so we basically got peer pressured haha and she was recommended by another bride on here. Maybe I think that way because at this point I'm just beyond the caring haha, whereas when I booked her I was all into the details . It's crazy how your perception changes as you get closer to the date haha. I paid with paypal so maybe I could go that route . thanks!
  4. good to know! I don't imagine that they will pay for anything easily but when it comes to fighting against the man I'm pretty relentless. I'll wait 3 years if I have to, but they messed things up and I'm not giving up until they pay. I'll check with the vendor to see if it had insurance, I know it was registered, but I don't know if that's the same thing. The dance is coming along really well. After we agreed that if it didn't go well we'd switch it last minute I think Juan felt better about the whole thing and began to relax a little. We've been working really hard, practicing pretty much every day, which isn't easy considering we live in opposite ends of the city. We're not fighting anymore about it, which is nice and really helps too.
  5. Oh my, I'm so sorry that you had to deal with this so close to your wedding. I hope everything was resolved and you had the wedding of your dreams. Alterations are so expensive and sometimes the stores don't own up to what they sold you. My mom had a similar experience with her dress, but at a different store.
  6. @@beckys98 that's a great idea! I'll make sure to add it on to the list of items for our MC to mention @@calgarybride2015 the time capsule is so cute, that would be nice to look at in a few years.
  7. I thought about AzulAmor but Juan wasn't a big fan of it, so we scratched it out haha. I loved your hashtag and I used it as inspiration for some of mine, but in the end I couldn't come up with one that I really loved. That's ok though. We have a pretty small and close knit group so I'm sure the pictures will make their way back to us one way or another I feel like 2 months was like yesterday, and now it's only a month pretty much. Time flies when you get closer to the wedding day. I'm also starting to lose weight for some reason, probably the stress :s. As long as the dress isn't too big I'm ok. Last night Juan and I packed most of the wedding stuff. It turns out that we only need our family members to each bring a carry on filled with wedding stuff and about 3 OOT bags in each suitcase . When spread out it doesn't seem like that much. The nice thing is that we probably won't have to pay for checking an extra suitcase. I don't mind the paying part so much, but I feel overwhelmed with being responsible for only one piece of luggage, plus a carry on and the dress, let alone if we had to carry a few suitcases each of us. I'd probably lose something haha. Today I contacted our legal ceremony officiant to see if there was anything we need to discuss before the wedding day. My necklace finally arrived to Calgary! Yay!! I'm guessing it will be delivered tomorrow. Still no word from the bridesmaid's gifts. At this point I'm starting to consider it a loss. If nothing comes in by thursday or friday I'll start seeing what I can do in order to get my money back. At the end of the day, I was more worried about my necklace because it's more important, but still. @@snswedding2016 I think I'll follow Calgarybride's suggestion and try out how curls behave in the humidity and see whether I can even stand being with my hair down all night. Otherwise I'll do an updo for my trial and then go from there . Another point towards the updo is our first dance. When my hair is lose it ends up whipping Juan in the face when we dance salsa and I don't want to have to worry about that. Ugh, I'm torn haha but i'm confident that I'll be able to figure it out once I'm there. I've pinned a few inspiration pictures for both types of hair do's just in case .
  8. the veil is probably the easiest thing to get! There might be brides out there who even sell theirs, so you might be able to find a good deal, even if it's not at the bridal store . I only got mine right away because it was 10% off ifI got the with the dress. Looking back, I would have been just as happy with a simpler veil and I probably would have spent a little less on it, but oh well. I think you made the right choice in waiting a little longer
  9. @@acw271011 I think the starfishes look very good! I think they'll look great when attached to the chairs , can't wait to see it all together. @@maybeoneday I like the second ones more
  10. That's a really good idea! I hope the hair dryers in the room have some power because I always just give up drying my hair when I go there with those small hair dryers haha. It's way too hot to be holding some hot hair to your face for an hour lol. I'll try doing that and see how it goes, like you said, it might look terrible in half an hour with the humidity and then I have to change plans anyway. I have some spray for "beach waves" I think it helps a little but my hair is naturally frizzy when I first wash it until it settles down or I curl it/straighten it. I have a trial on the second day when I'm there but it would be nice if I could narrow it down to an updo or half updo. Especially if I have to go for an updo, I've never had one done, so there might be some tweaking needed for the wedding day, it would be nice to try it first. The trial is free, so that's nice . We have to sit down and think about who is more likely to say yes to the MC job hahha. I would be terrified of doing that ahaha.
  11. I'm praying this week is the week! Last night we went to a wedding. It was nice because I could see how they did some of the things that were a big question mark for me hahah. For example, how the MC helped moved things along (we still have to ask someone about MCing), how long dinner approximately takes when you have a buffet. I was surprised, it was a lot less than I thought! People basically inhaled their food haha. I sent the brochures last night, no hashtag. I just thought, there's only 30 of us, I'm sure the pictures will make their way back to us somehow . Plus, I couldn't think of a hashtag that I really liked for us, so it was better this way. I'm having second thoughts about my hair for the wedding. I knew this was bound to happen. To give you a bit of background, I have very long, thick hair, up to my waist. I love having my hair down and putting half of it up, curling it, etc. However, with the heat I thought it would be better having it up. Now I'm not so sure, I just love the half updo's. I take great pride on my hair and I love showing it off so now I'm considering going half-up. Maybe I can work with my friend who is a hair dresser to see if there's any that I cold put into a fancy side ponytail after the ceremony. I still haven't decided what to do, it might be a last minute decision haha, especially when I get to experience the heat over there . I feel like everything is pretty much done now. I'm going to try and start packing some of the wedding stuff, so i can see how many more suitcases we need and start planning how we can divide things among our family members so that we don't have to pay for many more extra suitcases. Almost a month out!! Last night at the wedding it finally started to dawn on me that the time is almost here! I had a bit of a freak out moment hahah.
  12. oh my! Yeah I've never had any issues but lately it seems that everything I order there's an issue with the shipping. The necklace has been on re-routed and processed for the last week or so. I hope they don't mess that one up either.
  13. Hi! I finally got some time to post on people's threads. I saw the pictures of your dress and it's gorgeous , now I know what you meant when you said that my dress was along the lines of what you wanted, they do have very similar styles . Great minds think alike! haha. I agree that the veil totally adds to the whole look. I'm totally biased because of course I'm wearing one . I just think it goes really well with your dress.
  14. That hashtag is a great idea. But I'm leaning more towards just telling people to tag us on Facebook. It will just be a lot simpler since they already do anyway [emoji4]. I'm sure Juan will agree with that too. Yeah I'm thinking of waiting a bit longer in case it shows up in the mailbox but otherwise I think it was certified so I can probably get my money back somehow. Either from the bank or from canada post. I just don't understand how you can loose 3 days worth of mail. That's a lot of mail! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. We're ready to send our welcome brochures to get printed, but I think we should put a hashtag on it and we're having trouble deciding on something. Mainly we can't think of anything that isn't taken ahaha. What do you guys think of azulkisses? I don't know, I'm not convinced about it so I might just scrap the whole idea and have no hashtag. Just tell people to tag us on facebook/instagram or send us the pictures. After all there's only 30 of us. We also thought the song by Shakira (Colombian), Lucky, that she wrote to her then Argentinean boyfriend. It says "lucky that you were born so far away so we can make fun of distance" (or something along those lines haha), but if we make our hashtag makefunofdistance I don't think anyone else would get it. What do you guys think? Update on the BM jewelry So remember how I told you guys that these gifts have been stuck at Canada Post since June 1. I tried following up with customs and Canada Post and apparently all mail that came in June 1-3 is pretty much a write off. It's gone missing, they have no idea where it all is and people are getting quite impatient. My reaction is "Are you freaking kidding me?!". The lady over at customs said that Canada Post is the one that hands the mail over to them but they haven't handed anything for those three days and they're getting calls like crazy. There's basically nothing I can do until Canada Post gets their crap together. She said that in some occasions the status won't be updated but people receive it anyway so she said all I can do is keep checking my mailbox and pray that that's my case. How frustrating is this? I thought I had ordered this with plenty of time but maybe not. I guess I'll wait until the last few weeks and if it doesn't come in I'll try to get them something locally. Which still makes me angry because what a waste of money. As for my necklace for the wedding, it was supposed to be here already but Canada Post made a mistake and sent it to the wrong place, so now they had to re-route it, according to the tracking now it should be on its way. I am not impressed with Canada Post right now at all! It's not even Christmas time!!
  16. I feel pretty good but I freak out once in a while. I don't think I've quite grasped the fact that it's only a few weeks away! I still feel like I have another year to go hahah. There hasn't been much planning going on, but I feel like everything is pretty much done.
  17. that's what I was thinking. I mean, if all of a sudden I show up with all natural flowers for the whole wedding they might wonder, but boutonnieres are so small that no one will even notice if they're real or not . It will also probably cost me a fraction of the price than if I go through the hotel
  18. yes please post their business card. After asking the hotel 3 times for a quote for a darn boutonniere and still getting nothing i'm probably going to go out and get them. I tried. Did your hotel have a limitation on your contract that you couldn't bring outside flowers?
  19. @@Wafflesmom I think that's a completely normal concern, that people will get bored. I keep thinking the same thing but then my friends tell me "we're going to be in Mexico! If you get bored there, there's just no hope for you" hahah, and it's true. I've been there when it rained for most of the week and I still had a blast.
  20. @@beckys98 thank you! I just think that a dress also has to fit your personality and that makes a world of a difference on how you carry it, so maybe that's why most of them look better on the brides than on the models . I think this dress really fits my personality. I was actually telling my mom the other day that I feel like it makes me look smaller and/or younger. When I tried it at the store I felt like a sweet 16 hahah. I'm glad I got a veil because it makes a big difference, it makes me look more like a bride . I have a friend who got married a few years ago and she looks super young. One of the people working at the reception asked her sister if she was a child bride hahaha. She was 25 by the way, but her dress also made her look smaller and younger @@acw271011 yes, their prices are so reasonable. I couldn't believe the deal I got on my dress considering all the beading and detail on it . I can't wait to see your dress on you, it's so beautiful.
  21. hahah I'd feel the same and probably would do the same thing. I'm always making faces to him, especially when things are kind of awkward hahah . He's like my refuge when things get awkward hahah.
  22. Congratulations! Everything looked so good and I'm happy that you consider this the best time ever . I think we always have some kind of regret, but I wouldn't let that hold you back from enjoying your memories at its fullest. You know for a lot of us this is our first wedding, and as usual with first times, there's always things we learn in the process and things we wouldn't do again if we had to, so I think some regrets are normal. I really would try to get past them and maybe if talking to your sister helps I would do that .
  23. I just caught up to this. I love the video, just the little looks between you in the ceremony are so cute and then when you got the giggles haha, that's probably going to be me
  24. I love your dress! You both looked amazing congratulations
