  1. Is she paying for your real flowers? If not I'd tell her until she foots the bill real touch it is! I just can't believe how expensive the resort makes things and we are paying for our own wedding so real flowers are definitely not where we will be splurging.
  2. We are having our ceremony on the beach- "Gazebo Zocalo" (originally we were doing the Sky Wedding but the more planning I did I decided it wasn't worth the extra 1800 just to have it up there plus now i really like the idea of the beach better anyway and I think it will be less windy). Then our cocktail hour is being held at "Zocalo Al Fresco" and the reception is at "Plaza Zavaz" which is the poolside terrace with gazebo. Where are you having yours? For our menu we decided to go with the BBQ Deluxe Buffet. Honestly, we picked it so long ago that I don't remember specifically why we chose it. I think it was the most price effective and the best sounding as far as the actual menu and my WC told me it was a popular one. Center pieces are seriously driving me in circles... I have no idea what to do yet. I was thinking about making pomanders to hang on the aisle chairs at the ceremony and then using them again at the reception for center pieces but I'm undecided. You? I am definitely buying paper lanterns as well! What colors and sizes did you get and where did you buy them? Maybe this could be something we share. I could pay you half or something. Just a thought. As far as other decorations for the reception I'm unsure. I was thinking about maybe floating candles or something in the pool?? I also want to use table runners in purple to accent the tables. There is so much to think about and it's hard to do it from far away but I feel like it's all starting to come together a little bit. I have my first dress fitting in 2 weeks so I need to find shoes!!!
  3. Wow that is such a great idea. I was just reading today about alternatives to flowers. I love your idea. Post a picture when you complete it!
  4. i love your bouquet!! i am thinking of ordering from afloral as well. i am so nervous and overwhelmed. i feel like i don't know what to order or how many to order.... i guess i'm just going to wing it and only try my bouquet first and if it goes well then go fro there and order again for bouts and the rest of the bouquets.
  5. Ok ladies... heres where I am: the follow are done: a photographer (Samuel Luna), a DJ (DJDoremixx), all locations picked and reserved for ceremony, cocktails, and reception, menus for cocktail and reception including cake, flights and room booked, dress, my FI ring, invitations sent, spa appointments booked, reservation booked for rehearsal dinner as well as a request for an actual rehearsal, invitations sent, 34 guests booked, a few things purchased for OOT bags, menus and a "thank you" that will sit on top of the menu card designed and project of printing and putting them all together in the midst of completion, and TONS of info saved on my computer about where to order certain decorations that I like and plan to make. Sounds like a lot, but i know I still have soooo much. Currently working on figuring out what to do for flowers. I think I'm really leaning towards making my own bouquets. Ideas/suggestions? (My color is purple) What are you all currently working on?
  6. @natalieblev I am thinking about making my own bouquets as well. What route are you going? Where did you order flowers from and what kind are you using? Real touch, etc?
  7. I printed mine on Avery labels but I also designed a background for the label so it wasn't plain white. They came out great and I got tons of compliments. I will try to post a picture later today. We made our RSVP march 15 bc final room payment for anyone in our room block is early may so I figure they will know by march if they are coming or not and I want to know ASAP. So far 36 ppl are booked.
  8. I had to pay 800 per vendor! :/ Let me know if you hear differently bc it makes me sick to pay that much money for nothing.
  9. We are allowing kids at ours as well (especially since we have one! lol) and we addressed ours the first way: Mr. and Mrs. Adam Smith & Family I think it keeps the formal part of a wedding invite while still inviting the whole family. To me, the second option sounded like a Christmas card
  10. I'm so excited, too! Apparently (according to my WC) there is a wedding the same day as mine :/ and the day after mine as well, but I haven't been able to find or get in touch with either of those girls. This is so ironic.. my colors are purple (plum shade), wisteria (similar to lavandar) and peuter grey! If you chose to do purple as well we could definitely coordinate how to share certain decorations, etc! I like your idea of purple and teal, as well I have a lot planned, but then again I feel like I don't.... I have: a photographer (Samuel Luna), a DJ (DJDoremixx), all locations picked and reserved for ceremony, cocktails, and reception, menus for cocktail and reception including cake, flights and room booked, dress, my FI ring, invitations sent, spa appointments booked, reservation booked for rehearsal dinner as well as a request for an actual rehearsal, invitations sent, 34 guests booked, a FEW things purchased for OOT bags... and TONS of info saved on my computer about where to order certain decorations that I like and plan to make. Sounds like a lot, but i know I still have soooo much. How about you?? What have you planned so far??
  11. Hi!! I don't have a lot of time at the moment to answer any of your questions but I wanted to say hi while I was on here and saw your post bc I am getting married 3 days after you so we will be at the resort at the same time! How exciting! We should def meet up when we are there. What are your wedding colors/themes? Maybe we can help each other out and coordinate some things!
  12. Ok I was able to go back through and look at my posts... I posted meggs0286 by mistake. I forgot my name on here is MK0386 I guess and the 2 vs the 3 is just a typo so....it's just me on June 28th!.... Sorry for the error! I think I was just having a brain cramp! :/
  13. oh my gosh I know I just saw this today!!!! That's not me (that I know of) but it is so strange bc my name for all websites is usually meggs0386. Meggs0286... Are you out there?? Are you my wedding twin? Haha
  14. Thanks! that makes me a feel a little better. I wish I could get in touch with her but she doesn't appear to be on this forum and neither is the girl who is getting married the day after me :/
  15. Do you have a picture of the starfish charms?? I'll prob take those!! message me or respond here. Or email me at [email protected]. Thanks! )
  16. So I just found out there is a wedding the same day as mine at the resort! :/ I don't know how I feel about this. I'm trying not to exaggerate or overreact, but I'm nervous. The main reasons I'm nervous are 1- Hearing each others music at the receptions. 2- If it were to rain we would both be moving our wedding indoors and I'm nervous that the options are going to be scarce with 2 brides. 3-Pictures. I don't know what time her ceremony is, but there is only so much time between ceremony and reception where my guests will be at the cocktail hour and we will be taking pictures. What if the other wedding is trying to use the same spots for their pictures as us??....eeek! Anyone have any experience with this or tips??
  17. For photography- I loved Elizabeth Medina too and even though I am also willing to sacrifice other things to expand my photography budget I just could not see justifying her prices. I found Samuel Luna through this website and I loooove his work! I booked him and bc of the package I chose he covered the vendor fee for me! My wedding is in June, so I will let you all know how he works out. When you say "fire dancers"... I didn't even know that was an option. I was just telling this to my fiance- "I feel like I don't even know what our options and choices are! I have to do all the research and then clear it with my WC. I wish they would just tell us flat out what they offer." Good luck with all your planning!
  18. We are doing something similar and also just doing a cheap-o bag vs a tote. I found the cheapest ones to actually be at Hobby Lobby. They were cheaper than dollar store. One fun thing we are doing is typing up some fun phrases in Spanish since our wedding is in Mexico and printing it on fun paper with our wedding logo, etc. I found a lot of great things at Wal-Mart where they have all the travel toiletries such as sun screen, aloe, cocoa butter lotion. I love the Do Not Disturb door hanger idea! That's great. Our resort is the same- about $4/bag if they hand them out. We are deciding if we want to meet each guest in the lobby as they arrive and personally hand them out. The only issue with this is I don't want to spend my entire vacation in the lobby waiting for guests.... We'll see.
  19. I'm interested in learning more about the markets, too! How far are they/ how much is a cab there?? Where can I learn more about what they have to buy there? I'm assuming it's all cash and negotiable prices?
  20. Thank you! I'm definitely going to get this in writing from my WC. I just want to have from her in writing what the exact procedure is. Why they call it "legal" if it's only partially legal is beyond me. It can get so confusing. I might just switch to symbolic anyway bc I had my WC send me a copy of the "script" and it's super simple and kind of "abrupt." it's not sweet and "wedding-like" at all... We'll see! Thank you so much for your help!
