  1. Great list. I always bring clothespins and a rope to utilize drying clothes on the balcony. This might not seem like a wedding item unless you are like me and plan on getting your dress wet in a trash the dress ceremony on an island and need it to be dry to pack in a day or 2.
  2. Hi Lisa, We vacationed at Viva Fortuna last Christmas before we decided to get married, so I have been there, but have not met the wedding staff, except through emails. How large is your wedding? Ours is very small, only immediate family, so a total of 10 guests. I have most of the items for the welcome bags purchased. I have not booked hair and makeup, yet. Rosalyn at the tourist board recommended someone, I emailed her, but have not heard back. Will you have a local h/m person? Has the resort sent you sample photos? I was suppose to get samples of flowers on Monday, but have not received them, yet. As far as the photo sharing site, I know there are subscription style sites as I saw at a wedding show, but I didn't pay too much attention. The sticker I picked up from one of them says trycapsule.com. I'm sure there are many services like this, but I have not looked into them, as I figured the family could simply share pictures amongst ourselves. Did you hire an outside photographer or will you use the resort's?
  3. My FI and I have lived in LA for nearly 20 years, parents in different states on the east coast. We thought we had a great idea of having a destination wedding, and then the AHR came up. Mom wants it on the east coast, but thinks we should have a second in LA for our friends here. Anyone else doing 2 receptions.
  4. Bed Bath & Beyond will let you use up to 5 of their 20% of coupons in one transaction, they even take expired ones, so that brings the price to around 24 cents each, the same as buying a 12 pack at Wal-Mart (Local LA store has them for $2.97/12). Good option if you need only a few packs.
  5. I bought mine at Ikea. They are the grocery kind that fold into a pouch. 75 cents each! One drawback, they are nylon, so no iron-on transfers. They also have a tag that says "Ikea Family" sewn on the side. I'm going to try and cut it off. http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/40210063/
  6. Oranges are my color scheme, but my mom is wearing an aubergine color dress and I think the 2 colors will look great together.
  7. They also had bags of seashell soap that could be cute in oot bags, for those that are adding soap (I'm not). 5 soaps for $5 http://www.pier1.com/Seashell-Soaps-in-Oceans-Fragrance/2611449,default,pd.html
  8. Saw these great Starfish Tealight candle holders at Pier One this week. http://www.pier1.com/Starfish-Tealight-Holder/2516670,default,pd.html $4 each.
  9. Thanks, Maroon13 for the input. While looking online I saw the prices range from a few dollars to $50. I'm sure the quality goes up with the price, but I wasn't looking to spend too much on a oot bag item.
  10. Avery actually makes kits that include bags and toppers. I saw them at Staples this week and they are on sale! http://www.staples.com/Avery-Printable-Bag-Toppers-with-Bags/product_323807 Probably still more expensive than the DIY, but kits certainly make it easy! I have not checked on prices elsewhere.
  11. Has anyone considered buying the underwater bags for digital cameras? Seems like everyone already has a digital camera these days.
  12. Unfortunately, no. Vova Fortuna is on Grand Bahama Island. I have heard good things about the Wyndham on Nassau and I think their are threads with information.
  13. We have used ours locally when hiking and fill them up at the airports after clearing security (at a drinking fountain). In China, our hotel had a purified water spout, so we thought we would use them there, but the tour we were on provided bottled water everyday. Have never filled them with anything but water. I do put them upset down in the drying rack at home, but the sides tend to stick to each other when wet. I always bring dish soap to wash them and coffee cups, etc out in the hotel room, but only bring a small cooling rack to dry items, so it is always a challenge to lean them against a wall to dry them. While shopping around today for my welcome bag goodies, I found this site the has them on sale. http://www.lightinthebox.com/vapur-anti-bottle_p235181.html
  14. We have a few and do use them. I don't know if they are dishwasher safe, as I don't have a dishwasher. Hand washing is a bit of a pain, especially drying them. The problem we have had is if you attach them to a backpack, you need to be careful in a crowd as they swing a bit, if you attach to shorts, it's awkward for walking.
  15. I had read to be sure to bring a pretty hanger for photos, but these are amazing!
  16. The Knot's Wedding Channel has daily deals. I have seen everything from invites, photography, beauty, etc. http://deals.weddingchannel.com/los-angeles probably need to sign up for ones in your hometown.
  17. I was hoping to do a trash the dress ceremony, either jumping off a boat into the ocean, or into a pool. If I go through with it, I will definitely have safety precautions in place.
  18. Anyone have experience getting married or attending a wedding at the Wyndham Viva Fortuna? We stayed there last December and have decided to get married there this November. I'd love to see photos and read reviews.
