  1. Courtney is right. If you booked your wedding December or later, you fall under the new package. Yes you will have to pay for one nights stay for your photographer if that's the case
  2. Jasmine, The only thing that has changed for 2013 is the bonfire (now $350) and mango walk disco rental (now $450) all the other "extras" prices are the same ... if you booked your date already than the wedding package is still the same price, for anyone who booked after 12/12 has a whole new package and pricing.
  3. You're probably referring to an old post of mine ... Rashel DOES NOT get charged a vendor fee. This was confirmed by both Rashel and Nicole from the Suites. You may want to email your WC to get it in writing just in case though
  4. Could you email me a copy of the 2013 prices please ?? [email protected] Thank you !!
  5. Actually lol, it's DJ Kevan Vaun Stewart ... it's the same guy for both the fb link and website you have. He is the Suites preferred DJ though.

  7. Alicia, If you are talking to Tiffany ... then you are most likely referring to the Suites Steakhouse. She is talking about the Beach Steakhouse.
  8. I'll agree with Justine ... i don't believe they will accept packages either. Plus, I've heard horror stories of the WC not getting the wedding documents ... I don't know how comfortable I would be paying a ton of money to ship something, when they seem to have mix ups between their resorts. Are you planning on booking a DJ for your bonfire ? The only reason I ask, is because I have read that dinners often go over scheduled time ... and some brides have lost money to a DJ that they book for 2 hrs, and only use for 1 ! As far as the group dinner ... as long as you're staying enough days, you should be able to reserve a group dinner when you arrive. For instance, the rehearsal/welcome dinner counts as one of your guests reservations. Therefore, a last day group dinner would just count as another reservation I would think. With that said, anyone know how many reservations you get with a 4 night stay ?
  9. you should give yourself some more time for lanterns lol ... i heard they're pretty tricky And there's gonna be a party on that airplane !!!! How exciting and what a good way to start off your wedding vacay !!!!
  10. @JaciV2000 we couldn't wait for our guests to put down deposits, as it's an actual contract with our TA. The longer the wait, the higher the room rates go, so we just sucked it up and paid the $100 a room, signed our contract and now have piece of mind that our guests will get a room at a good price ... plus we get all that money back. If for some reason all the rooms don't get booked, we get the deposit for unused rooms back.
  11. Like Court, I too paid $100 per room to block, and that all goes to my balance on my room when my guests pay their balance. You got a deal at $50 girl !! You have to keep in consideration, for the resort to block 75 rooms for a bride at no or minimal cost would be risky as they can sell to other people, and there's always that chance that you don't book all those rooms and then the resort has to scramble to sell them. I know how you feel though .... it's such a huge up front cost when you're not expecting it. However, VERY VERY worth it. You will hear so many horror stories about guests not being able to book because the resort sells out, and this is one way to prevent that.
  12. I put my deposit down with moneygram online ... they did however stop my transaction and make me call them to release funds to her. They warn you about paying someone in another country, but I was fine with it. I've read so many reviews that I don't think there will be a problem.
  13. Hello Brides I was wondering if anyone had any pictures of the set up for the semi-private at aunt ruby's ? I have seen the private, and they seem to use round tables for the private receptions. However, the semi-private looks like they use the square tables to create rectangles ? Anyone know if they are flexible with the layout of the square tables ? I don't really want one really long table, i'd like to do a U shape so that everyone can see everyone. Also, we are going to rent the steel pans band for our ceremony so we can do our first dances on the beach after the signing and champagne toast. Does anyone know if we can request songs for the steel pans band ? I'd like to use some modern songs for our dances, not just any tropical beat.
  14. I think you may have the 2012 minimums because you're so close to the new year. From what I understand, Nicole told me they stopped giving the 2012 paperwork out in March. So anyone that booked after that has the 2013 mins. Look at your contract from the resort, it will state your minimums.
  15. It depends on where you want to do your private dinner. For any Suites 2013 brides ... these minimums apply. Aunt Ruby's - 100 min Calabash - 70 min Mare Nostrum - 40 min (Maria Bonita does not have private)
  16. Nicole from the suites said it wasn't a problem for me !!
  17. I emailed Nicole to verify If i went through Floral Fantasies that they could just drop of the flowers ... she said yes, they have worked with them several times
  18. Unfortunately ... they won't let you do a private dinner reception if you don't have a minimum of 40 people. Believe me, I tried everything from throwing hissy fits to emailing their pr manager, to having my TA contact her Iberostar rep ... and I got nowhere It was a very frusturating process for me and I was freaking out because I wanted to have a normal wedding ... ya know getting married in one place, then doing a reception, dinner and dancing all in the same place. I was seriously furious ... I just couldn't (and still can't) understand why they wouldn't let me pay the same amount of money a larger group would to have a private reception. Eventually, I just gave up my need to control everything ... and realized I'm not having a normal wedding ! If that's truly what I wanted ... I would have stayed home ! The way prices add up ... it gets a little ridiculous. You're best bet is to figure out what's important to you ... for instance ... is it worth paying for an cocktail hour when your guests can get alcohol for free ? And you'll learn all these things from talking to previous brides, join the Iberostar RoseHall Sisterhood of the traveling starfish ... it's pretty much the same people, but much faster answers and much more pictures Good luck with all your planning ... and know that we're here if you need us !!
  19. Hey Marlena, I'm going to do the steel pans band ... what kind of songs can I request ? I kind of want something different than the norm ... but i'm afraid the songs I picked aren't popular enough for them to play ?
  20. Absolutely go with a TA !! I don't believe the resort will work with anyone but a TA to be honest. As far as the wedding package ... it couldn't hurt to ask ? You may want to consider getting married off site if you really want to customize your day... I was pretty skeptic about paying $18 a head for champagne and cake as well !! I can tell you ... that Tai Flora (the place the bouquet and bout come from ) only credit you $45 if you're not using them and want to purchase something else from them.
  21. I'll be doing an AHR the week after we get back from our 2 week wedding/honeymoon. I want to get everything wedding out of the way asap so I can enjoy my wonderful new life with the hubby ... and be planning/stress free !! We will be doing a Cocktail-Hors d'Ouerve reception on a Friday night. We had originally planned on doing a wedding at home, and put down a pretty large deposit at a gorgeous local brew house. They were kind enough not to just take our money, but let us change our date to do an AHR. However ... we did end up losing around $3,000 with the other vendors We are going pretty heavy on the hors d'Ouerves (about 10-12 different pieces pp) and will only be paying for beer and wine as well. The idea for us is to not spend "wedding" kind of money ... as it is not our wedding. We won't be doing anything associated with our wedding ... with the exception of some photo's that will feature our engagement pics and sneak peaks of wedding. We won't show a video, nor will we do speeches or dances. I've read that if you don't invite your AHR guests to your wedding (which we def. did not - we went the DW route to make our wedding more intimate) you should not relive it at your AHR. It can be offensive to some that you didn't invite them to your DW in the first place, so why rub it in. Plus I think doing all the traditional stuff takes away from your actual wedding ... I want to remember my first dance with my husband on a beach with sand in my toes ... but that's just my personal preference ... to each her own We will be ordering personalized pint glasses (because it's a brew house of course !) as favors for our guests ... and we'll have cupcakes instead of cake. This was mostly to avoid the "cutting of the cake" ... because I will have already done that, and again ... want to remember it the way it was the night I got married We're looking at it like a big party ... and it will be !!! While I'm sure the attention will be focused on us regaurdless ... I just look at it as a reason to get everyone together to have a good time ... for a good reason !! And I'm already planning one wedding ... I don't want to plan another !!! lol As far as telling people about your AHR ... we simply stated on our AHR invites we were getting married in a small intimate ceremony. I'm hoping people will understand ... that means immediate family. But we'll see !
  22. Haha tell me about it !! I've been told so many different things from so many different brides, vendors, TA's and WC's !! It gets frustrating, but I save everything in my emails ... so I think i'll be ok lol. I wish the planning would go as smooth as everybody says the wedding day does !!
  23. I contacted him directly through his Facebook, he got back to me within a day ... he told me a 4 hour minimum ... and even though he is the DJ the resort uses, the prices are not what the resort quotes @ $150/hr.
