  1. Has anyone ever purchased bridesmaid dresses from this website before? They are located in China apparently, and have some pretty decent prices on custom made dresses. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with them... good or bad? Also, if anyone has purchased bridesmaids dresses online anywhere where that they can recommend, i'd greatly appreciate any suggestions. Looking for long chiffon style dresses. Thanks!! )

  3. hi! we're getting married at the Grand Bahia Principe akumal January 15th 2014! Did the wedding coordinator contact you with planning stuff, or did you contact her? we still haven't heard anything from ours...
  4. We haven't been to the resort yet, our date is still 9 mths away, so I can't help you with your first questions. But as for the gift bags, we are planning on mailing out a info/welcome brochure with timelines of events, etc and luggage tags a couple of weeks before we leave. Then we are planning on having a welcome dinner in one of the buffets the evening after we arrive to hand out gift bags. This is assuming that our WC will set up some tables for us in the buffet to do it.
  5. You ladies are all fabulous and just totally made my day!! I don't know what I would do without BDW and all you guys!
  6. Thanks Katryne! that's too bad to hear that its only once/wk in the buffet I know that the resorts try to cater to all tastes, but i will never understand why a lot of them don't have at least some of their local cuisine offered every night. Thanks again for your reply!
  7. Hi! Ya, it was pretty stressful for awhile there, lol! We did''t have a date confirmed yet either when we sent out invites. What we did is we picked a date right in the middle of the week that we were booked for and crossed our fingers that the date was free. Thank god it was free so we didn't have to change anything. But if our date was not available then we were prepared mentally for having to send an email out to our guests saying that the actual wedding date has changed by a day or so. If you have to do that guests should be ok with it since they should have been told by the TA when they booked that even the flight schedules are known to change by a day or 2 either way. Thanks and good luck with your planning too!!
  8. Hi, we are getting married at the Akumal resort in Jan 2014. We first emailed the resort back in Dec about reserving a wedding date and we only just heard back from them a couple of weeks ago. It takes them a while to reply because they have so much weddings going on all the time (plus I hear this time of year is esp busy!) I don't believe they have the package prices out yet, thats what Paloma told us in the email she sent a couple of weeks ago. Hope this helps!
  9. Just a couple of quick questions for those who have been to this resort: I've been to resorts in the past that do not serve much Mexican food. Does the buffet serve Mexican dishes regularly? For anyone who has golfed at the resort, are drinks/snacks included in free green fees? Thanks in advance!! Liz
  10. No, I haven't even bought test fabric yet... been too busy with school, and our wedding isn't until Jan '14 so I have lot's of time. I'll probably give it a shot around the end of the month when finals are done!
  11. I just googled "tea dye veil" and there were lots of DIY links that came up. I'm going to go to a fabric store and buy a little swatch of similar material as the lace and tulle to test it out first though. I'll make sure to let you know how it turns out if I get around to doing it before you!
  12. Have you considered doing a tea-dye on it to darken it? My veil is a little light as well, but its beautiful so I'm going to attempt it!
  13. oh you're getting married in Jamaica, sorry... I couldn't see that on the mobile site that's a great idea to get them to assemble them at the resort though. We should see if we can find someone in Riviera Maya to do that!
  14. Hi, just wondering which florist you're dealing with and how you're getting the florist your pails beforehand... we are also doing metal pails with flowers and then candles around and weren't sure how to go about getting flowers from an outside source.
  15. You look beautiful! Congrats!! Its nice to see your ivory dress next to his white shirt, as I also have an ivory dress. I think it looks great, and doesn't look dirty at all. I think that having the flowers in ivory instead of white really help with that too, it makes t look like everything is supposed to look ivory.
  16. wow, that's really interesting about bringing in our own liquor. we were wondering how we were going to do this also since hardly any of our guests will be drinking the cocktails. we have a lot of hard liquor and beer drinkers. thanks for sharing!
  17. Hi Pierre, welcome to the forum! We are also getting married at the Grand Bahia Principe, but in Jan 2014. We haven't actually been to this resort either yet, but have heard a lot of great reviews about the beach, food, and cleanliness of the resort both on this forum and on trip advisor. Also, their wedding packages are reasonably priced for the number of guests we are thinking we will have. I would suggest to have a read on the following posts re: this resort, they have a wealth of info (especially the 2nd one, which has a bunch of info on wedding details in the first few posts): http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/786/gran-bahia-principe-akumal-tulum-coba-post-here http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/75549/official-gran-bahia-principe-riviera-maya-thread Also, a travel agent would be a great resource to get the ball rolling, we would be lost without ours! Good luck, and happy planning! Liz
  18. From what I understand, this is pretty common. Our TA told us right up front that our dates could change by a couple of days and to be prepared for that, since the actual flight schedules don't usually come out until a few months (maybe 6??) before. Its just too bad that your TA didn't warn you about this in the first place! But, I know its super frustrating to have to scramble to move things around. Hopefully your guests will be ok with leaving on the Thurs or you can move your wedding date by a day or so... Good luck with everything!
  19. Hi sarakelz... Congrats!! We are also getting married at the GBP, except we are at Akumal resort. We also just confirmed our date a couple of weeks ago, and are getting married January 15, 2014, so just a couple of weeks before you! So exciting!! Liz
  20. Wow, that IS a small world! lol! I hear what you're saying... I swear I've gone into a depression with all this snow we've had, lol, January can't come fast enough!! Ar you working with a travel agent here in town?? Oh, and... Congrats!! Liz
