Hi Smithk, Our wedding is now on March 10. It has been quite a gong show with changing resorts and dates, etc! But now we have everything booked and it's such a relief. And about the differences between the Elegance and the Colonial, my travel agent said the same as what PuntaBride said. Colonial is 4 star, where majestic is 5 star. We will stay one week at the Colonial, followed by a week at the Elegance for our "honeymoon". If you search "Majestic vs. Colonial" on tripadvisor.com there are several reviews that explain the differences.

So turns out the only time the resort had available was at 10 am...which is way too early for this girl! lol. So we will be staying at the Majestic Colonial, but are having both the ceremony and reception off resort at the Jellyfish Restaurant. I am very excited to have it booked

Hi ladies! I had originally planned on having my wedding at the Dreams Palm Beach, but due to flights being sold out, we had to change our dates, and now the resort! I will be booking our flights tomorrow, and gave emailed the wedding coordinator about a wedding date in March, so fingers crossed there is something available. Does anyone know with the "free" symbolic wedding ceremony, if the 15 rooms have to be booked with the resort directly? Or can they be booked at a discounted group rate through a travel company?

I am doing blue and orange for my wedding, and just purchased a bunch of lanterns from Justartifacts.net They have so many different colors and different shapse and designs. I then purchased my LED lights from ebay, and with shipping and everything, the lanterns + lights came out to $2.16. It was the best price I could find, so fingers crossed the quality is OK!

I have my date secured! . How much did everyone send for a deposit? I am going to send Mayte some money this week but have no idea how much to send.

Imadore, I go back and forth between orange/Tiffany blue and lime green/Tiffany blue. I think I'm going to stick with the orange... But who knows! Just sent my deposit off today for our wedding! Soooo excited

Random question.... How much did the booze end up costing you ladies? It seems like that will be most of the cost of having our reception at the jellyfish.

Hi ladies, I am in the VERY beginning stages of planning my destination wedding at the dreams palm beach. I see several people have chosen to have their reception dinner at the Jellyfish restaurant. I did a quick little add up of costs between the resort vs. jellyfish and the jellyfish came out quite a bit more, mostly due to the cost of alcohol! But I see people have chosen the Jellyfish restaurant because the prices were better than the Dreams Palm Beach for the dinner. How did you come up with the prices? I would love to have my reception dinner at the Jellyfish, but dont think I can justify almost double the cost! Thanks

Hi everyone, We have finally decided on this resort! Well this will be our second resort we have chosen actually....as our first choice in Jamaica didnt work out. But anyways I am very excited to have a resort selected and to now let the planning begin! We will arrive in the DR on April 12, and planning to have our symbolic ceremony on the 15th. Just waiting for confirmation from the wedding planner. We will then have a cocktail hour/appetizers, and then private dinner. Has anyone heard if there is an extra charge to reserve the poolside for the reception?
