  1. where is the piano bar? the suites or the grand?
  2. looks good - lots of good information... just be careful, on your first page "weather" should be "whether" at least gramatically - unless you did it on purpose...
  3. awsome tip! thank you, i will let him know and will email the WC at the Suites to ask if that is possible... a cart is just as good as a roller (at least to me) cam't wait to see your review/pictures!
  4. maybe i just don't understand pinterest??? i always see people post cute dresses but the websites always link me to a blog with no mention of where the dress is from! i did find some lilly (pulitzer) dresses that might work, i ordered a bunch of them today so fingers crossed! thanks for the help!
  5. since your wedding is soon, let me know how the hotel beach bonfire/party is... i plan to do the same for my guests next year
  6. i love how on top of this thread everyone is. has anyone started looking at bridesmaid dresses? we were at brooks brother the other day and was told that everything in the store was ALL they were getting for summer. it made me nervouse since i want coral/orange bridesmaids dresses. i am not big into "typical" bridesmaids dresses for a beach wedding and would prefer nice sundresses... i also want all my bridesmaids in different dresses but i've had terrible luck finding anything! i did order a cute dress from anthropologie but thats it! and i feel like i'v searched everywhere - jcrew, modcloth, anthro, bloomies, macys, nordstrom, lilly, asos, ann taylor, banana, etc. just wondering if any of you have had better luck???
  7. I have also been told the beach party is saturday night at the suites... i'm crossing my fingers they don't change it for next may!
  8. the website is sincere legends.com but just email me at [email protected] or DM me and I can get you pricing on whatever you are looking for...
  9. that's so helpful! i want chivari chairs... i was hoping they'd be under $10 so my dad would say yes to paying for them!!
  10. yes, let me know what price they give you... i contacted them with my ideas and received an initial email but am waiting on pricing... i will let you know what i find out as well
  11. love all the websites, everyone's look awesome!
  12. My company makes t-shirts and all sorts of promotional products if you need a vendor. Last year for my family trip to Jamaica we made "red-stripe" t-shirts with our last name and info about the trip. They were really cute and we wore them while the ground was zip lining! Just an idea!
  13. omg beautiful! i love the benches on the beach.... i need to speak with tai flora too - even though i am at the Suites i hope we can do a set-up like this!
  14. yeah?? that is so awesome to here! i hope it's great, i'm so excited! i've only been to negril in jamaica.. being close to the airport was really important to my FI - he hated the 1.5 hr drive from montage airport to negril.. thought it was way to far for our guests especially after a long flight!
  15. we are using our wedding website for rsvp's too! so much easier and why not save money on rsvp cards, postage, etc. our std's are in print and we still haven't decided if we will send formal invites yet. we just started putting all our travel info on our site and i was excited about the way our rsvp page came out... my fi is a graphic designer so he has been making the website based on what i tell him i want.. very time-consuming though! anyways, we were able to put so much info on our rsvp page, i hope it works out the way i expect it to.... i put the link below http://allienick.com/rsvp.html
  16. Of course right before our STD's went to print I changed my mind. I didn't want the white border around the front picture - instead I wanted the picture to bleed off the page, making it look more like a real postcard? I also though there was too much wording/information on the back so we simplified.... and now here is our final version! We will be sending these out next week and I SO excited. We will also be updating our website in the next 2 weeks to add all of the wedding information. Next up is picking wedding colors and attire. We have 99.9% nailed down our wedding colors and we have already been shopping for groomsmen suits, bridesmaids dresses and wedding dresses. I will post outfit inspiration pictures soon!
  17. Does anyone know the price of open bar at a private reception at the Suites? I just realized (when I was looking over all the info) that if you have a private reception and rent the restaurant it includes dinner, beer/wine, soft drinks, coffee/tea (instead of having to pay the $18 per person). I see for a cocktail party it's $7/hour per person for a National Bar and $10/hour per person for International Bar..... so 1) what is the difference between national/international and 2) do those charges also apply to a reception? Thanks!!!!
  18. yeah I agree, I am going to have to do the same thing. The boys want to wear summer suits too so we will have to shop for that this summer as well. Guess we just have to hope no one grows, gets fat/skinny over the next year.
  19. omg love yours, beautiful! and LOVE LOVE LOVE the yellow/navy/blue dresses! I see cute dresses like that and I just think damn where am I going to find something that cute. I love that they are more sun-dressy than bridesmaid dressy. Guess I have to start searching! How soon do people buy bridesmaids dresses? Not sure if I should work on it this summer or wait... I guess if I don't get dresses now I'll have a hard time finding something next winter/early spring. Where did you find those pictures? I love looking at cute inspiration photos...
  20. didn't even think of places like H+M... guess I was thinking of traditional bridesmaids dresses but thats totally not what I want. Since it's a destination wedding, we can definitely use an H+M or something, such a good idea! Thanks! As for colors, I am leaning towards these - http://paratinovia.com/inspiration-board-28-baby-blue-canary-yellow-spring-green My FI's mom recently passed away - her middle name was Rose so we plan to use roses as our flowers. I know tropical flowers would probably be more appropriate for the destination but we are going with sentimental instead.
  21. I love your seating chart idea, I was trying to think of an easy way to do it without doing "escort cards" and having to bring items down to Jamaica with me and that's perfect! So awesome.
  22. Where are you looking for dresses? Or telling them to look? That's my hardest part so far... Both my bridesmaids are out of state - and one is out of country in Germany so I will have to pick out and buy her dress.... I have nooooooo idea where to look? I really like printed dresses but I want them to pick there own.....
  23. I am using the hotel wedding coordinator. Right now, they are very slow at getting back to me - I get email responses about 2 weeks after I email them but I am SOOOO ok with that because I'd rather the WC be focused on upcoming weddings, not mine 13 months away! Most brides at my resort say the WC gets more involved about 3-4 months out which is perfect for me! I am using a TA - actually a friend of my parents who is a TA in Ohio. She is doing all the rooms and group discounts/flight discounts. I have been told that you can get airline discounts for people traveling from the same airport to the same destination - which is perfect for us because the majority of our family/friends live in the NY/NJ/CT/PA tri-state area. I am also told the hotel gives room discounts for certain number of rooms booked. And my TA is doing a payment plan for guests, which I like. As for extra decor, the flower shop that the hotel works with offers those options. I know a lot of brides bring down extra items but I seriously can't be bothered. I am not bringing 100 suitcases. I'd rather just pay the people down there to take care of it - less to worry about! But I agree with you, I am NOT happy with any of the decor at the resort. Lucky for me my dad gave me the go-ahead for any kind of decor I want... THANK YOU DAD! What colors did you choose? That's what we are working on how. I know we will use yellow for sure. We keep going back and forth between a sage-ish green, light blue, coral and yellow or kelly green, royal blue, yellow and black. I am not into pinks or purples - it's to girly and even though my FI is so fashionable and will wear pink/purple, I am not doing it for a wedding. I prefer more neutrals.
  24. These are the thank-you cards we used for our engagement party thank-you's. We had our engagement photos printed on heavy cardstock - size approx. 3"x5" - again by our business neighbor who does printing. The cards only cost us about $30 and we bought envelopes at Staples for $10. We had 5 different design cards. We thought this was a nice way to thank our guests without using the traditional thank-you card. These are VERY easy to make too - we just opened our engagement photos in Illustrator, sized them to the sizes we wanted and added the text. Don't forget to create outlines before sending your files to the printer.
  25. Here are the email responses I received.... (from two separate emails) The red are Tiffany's responses 1. Is it possible to have someone rolling cigars for guests during cocktail hour? unfortunately we don’t offer that service 2. Can we do a fireworks show? Unfortunately no, we do not allow fireworks These are both things that would have to be done by Jamacian vendors - not sure if there is anyone the hotel works with? if its possible? and if you have pricing? We aren’t aware of any Jamaican vendors that offer cigars rolling but if you find one you can contact them directly. 1. We plan to marry on the beach and would like to do a ceremony right at dusk. See attached picture - wedding ceremony_inghilterra. Is that possible - to have candles, lighting on the beach? yes you may do that 2. I also love the wedding of Marisa Axelrod - she was married at your resort last June. See pictures - http://www.celebritybrideguide.com/marisa-axelrod-and-kent-cecil-wedding-photos/?pid=1906. We plan to have the reception at the beachfront restaurant. I would like to rent out the whole thing but will have to see the number of people coming. We would love to have a DJ and dancing in this area as well. ok, no problem 3. Marisa Axelrod's cake was also beautiful. Was this done by the hotel or by an outside vendor? I would love a speciality cake - something beach related. Yes it was done by the Hotel, just send us a picture and we will check with the chef to see if what you send us is possible. 4. I love these centerpieces - http://www.celebritybrideguide.com/marisa-axelrod-and-kent-cecil-wedding-photos/?pid=1897 - and will probably do something similar. I saw similar arrangements on the Tai Flora website. Tia Flora was the ones who did the centerpieces . 5. We will be renting chilvary chairs or white wooden chairs from Tai Flora for the beach ceremony. Is that something I can coordinate through the hotel or do I need to speak with Tai Flora separately. You need to speak to Tia Flora separetely 6. On this website, showing weddings from Iberostar - http://www.weddingsbyiberostar.com/WEDDING-DETAIL-SHEET-IBGRRH.pdf - I really like some of the "Port Maria ideas additional costs." Specifically the ones with the lights going up the columns in the restaurant. Is that something we can do as well? Please let me know how we would coordinate/price that? this picture shows the Iberostar Grand, not the Suites. If you want, you can get this style at the Steakhouse restaurant but you will how to contact Tai Flora as they are the ones that did this setup. 7. We also plan to do a beach bonfire - maybe Friday night (May 24, 2013). We would also like to have a welcome dinner at one of the resort restaurants that night. Obviously I will know later now many will be attending but is it possible to make a large dinner reservation like that? yes you can have dinner for the group in one of the hotel restaurants. 8. I have read that the hotel does a beach party on Saturday nights? Is this something our guests can attend? Yes Is it possible to get an area set up specifically for us? we can reserve a special area . Is there a bar set up on the beach for this party? yes they do have a bar open for the Beach Party. 9. Confirm that I do not need to worry about flowers, etc. until around January 2013? If I need to do things sooner, I will. I will just worry about invitations, save the dates, travel arrangements (we have a travel agent already), etc. until I am notified by you that I need to start "planning." At least 4months in advance you can start contacting the flower Shop Again, I know we have time. I just want to make sure my wedding "vision" can be achieved through the hotel. Please let me know.
