  1. I ordered a belt with my dress too -the belt was $250 but I have no idea who makes it, my receipt only says #33 a-sash, white. I'm going to wait until my dress comes in but I think am going to have it sewn to the dress. The dress has a pretty corset back and I don't want a ribbon to ruin the look.... but we'll see Quote: Originally Posted by elissae The belt did it for me Cinnagirl!!!! A little nuts for the price, but I decided I would not sew it into the dress and use it for other dresses/outfits in the future...What the Heck, right? I see that a lot of Bridal sites have these belts....I will try to find out in the meantime who makes it.
  2. agree with you and kkeeve01 ... it's nice to know others are having similar problems even though we shouldn't be complaining about being a size 2 but it's such a gamble to buy a dress, wait 6-9 months to get it and not even truly know what it's going to look like! i did go to david's bridal just to look around and they had dresses in my size - even though i didn't love anything there it was nice to see exactly how something would fit without having it all pinned up in the back... clamps can only do so much - not to mention i always seem to pop them off when i move around.
  3. I feel the same way.. I have found dresses I REALLY like, and dresses that my mom has told me are "the one" but I haven't had a moment either? I don't know if it's because I really don't love love the dresses or if because it's just too hard to tell? All the dresses I try on are sample sizes and I'm a 2 - so the ones with pretty backs and special detailing are just so hard to tell because the dresses I try on don't fit me... Also, the majority of the dresses I try on are ivory and not white, which I plan to order! Who knew it would be so hard? Say yes to the dress lies, they make it look so easy and fun! 4. omg i can't believe that! this was posted in your IGRH contract? we are booked at the suites but I want to go back and check my contract too.. i hope you are able to find a way around it - that's silly it matters especially if you plan to rent out the restaurant for the reception?
  5. I know the Suites does - I have asked. The WC told me they will help us light them as well. No fireworks though - asked about that too!
  6. We are staying the week of our wedding in Jamaica at the resort we are getting married at. Since we own a business we can't take off much more time. We have decided we are going to plan a honeymoon for a few months after the wedding. We have been looking at other resorts/islands but right now it looks like we are leaning towards a Mediterranean cruise or skiing in Switzerland (which we would have to wait for the winter months for)... If you're wedding is in Mexico, you could always fly to another island or even do a cruise from Mexico? Something different since you'll already be at a beachfront resort?
  7. Yes, airfare isn't available until 330 days before hand.. I've even called the airlines directly about it.. If Cinnagirl is from Canada maybe it's different there vs. the US? Also, maybe airlines work differently too? The majority of our guests are flying out of NYC airports - probably Newark and JFK and Philly.
  8. no problem, email me - [email protected] and i will forward you everything i have!
  9. Just wanted to throw this out there... I emailed Nicole yesterday and had a reply 3 HOURS LATER! I couldn't believe it. I don'y know if anyone else if doing excursions or not but if you are interested I have the hotel's preferred company.. we are booking one and paying for it as a thank you to our guests for coming to the wedding - as of right now it's looking like a catamaran/snorkel/booze cruise-type of thing. I have quotes from a few different companies I found on my own and then asked Nicole if she had any recommendations. I emailed Michelle this morning and can let you know if the prices are any better/worse than the outside companies I have quotes from.... Nicole said: "We work with an independent company by the name of Jamaica Tours. The name of the manager is Michelle Johnson you can contact her: [email protected]"
  10. i love disney/cinderella too! do you know what your cake looks like/have a picture? we originally picked out something very beachy but now i am wondering if we put toys or a topper on it, if a more traditional cake would look better?
  11. Where are you getting the Cinderella from, thats a cute idea - to both be characters but i can be something girly.... Are you using actual figures or having them custom made?
  12. for anyone who has ALREADY gotten married/wire their dress.. what do you think about trains for a beach wedding? i hear people telling me it gets fullo f sand.. i would like at least a little bit of a train, i don't want the dress even all the way around like a prom dress but i don't want to be dragging sand around either...
  13. i hate that i am even asking this.. but my FI wants a ninja turtle cake topper for our beautiful wedding cake! i keep waiting for him to tell me he is joking! anyone have cute, playful ideas that AREN'T ninja turtles? i've looked on etsy and haven't come aqcross much except for people doing wording to stick into the cake - our theme is "one love" so i like the idea of that.. i do not want to be april in a yellow jumpsuit on the top of my wedding cake, i'm dying just thinking about it! HELP!
  14. seems like a lot of you have sent our STD's already.. we sent out my side of the family and my FI should be going out early next week (his mom passed away at the end of april and we wanted to leave a decent enough amount of time between those thank you cards and our STD's). anyways, have a lot of your guests started booking yet? i know airfare isn't available until the beginning of july, i just wanted to get an idea of when people will start to book... a lot of our wedding depends on how many people will be coming and idk when i will be able to guage that.. also, when is everyone sending out formal invites or are you not doing formal invites?
  15. can you piost pictures of the beach reception? i don't think we are looking to go that route but i like to see what other brides do...
  16. I agree! I do NOT like boys in "girl" colors regardless of if they can pull it off. While guys probably don't "dream" of their wedding day, I'm sure hot pink ties weren't what they had in mind hahah. We are doing coral/orangey dresses - all my BM's have a different style and shade and the boys are wearing orange ties (unless we find something different between now and next year!).
  17. If you still don't have anything tomorrow - email me [email protected] and I will email you everything. I have forms, pictures, date requests, etc. etc. all in a folder but I have it all on my work computer. Good luck with June. When we booked our date in April, all of the Friday/Saturday's were taken (except for June 8) so I hope you get the date you want.
  18. This link should show you all the options at the Grand - it's not officially from Iberostar but it's the same thing the WC sent me. http://www.weddingsbyiberostar.com/WEDDING-DETAIL-SHEET-IBGRRH.pdf
  19. I have also settled on a bridesmaids dress "designer"... all of the dresses will be Lilly Pulitzer. Her dresses are amazing, a little (maybe a lot) preppy and perfect colors for an island wedding. I also love that Lilly has a girls line because one of my bridesmaids is 10... They are all choosing their own dresses. It's hard to juggle the dress thing because my bridesmaids live in Brooklyn, NY, Virginia and Germany... I know I want them to wear sundresses and not typical "bridesmaids dresses" but am nervous to wait until next spring to see if I can find cute sundresses in our color scheme. So again, we are buying them this season and will always return if something better comes along. Lilly's return policy is less amazing than Jos A. Bank's but we have 90 days... and 2 more Lilly summer lines coming out (one next week and one June 13). If we find other dresses next year that we prefer, it's no big deal. We (as in my parents and my fiancee's parents) are paying for the bridesmaids and groomsmen attire since they have to pay to come to the wedding. It's a perfect situation for me because 2 of my bridesmaids (the 3rd one is 10 yrs old) are the same size as me - so if the dresses don't work out and we find something else then I have new sundresses! BRIDESMAID DRESS #1: You HAVE to go to the Lilly website to see the back of this dress, it's beautiful with the orangey-colored lace. http://www.lillypulitzer.com/product/Dresses/entity/c/38/4057.uts?swatchName=Island+Coral+Monique+Dress BRIDESMAID DRESS #2 En route from the Lilly store in Sarasota, FL (it was sold out online....) BRIDESMAID DRESS #3 (for the 10 yr old)
  20. Finally send out our STD's yesterday... a little mad because the ONLY $0.32 stamps the post office had were "aloha" hawaiian shirt stamps that totally don't go with our Jamaican postcards but I wasn't them out before this weekend and didn't feel like having to search for custom stamps. I love that www.zazzle.com let's you create your own stamps but HATE that they all say zazzle on them... With that, we've been outfit shopping lately and have the groom's and groomsmen's suits picked out (and ordered!). The suits are beautiful navy blue seersucker, with thin grey stripes. The material is great - my fiancee's #1 concern was comfort and not being too hot in the Jamaican sun/humidity. This is a picture from the Jos A. Bank website and a link to the suit (right now they have an awesome 'buy 1, get 2 free" deal going on - but if you miss it they ALWAYS have amazing deals and suits are always on sale!). http://www.josbank.com/menswear/shop/Product_11001_10050_357141 Jos A. Bank also has an amazing return policy! If we buy our suits now, a year out, a decide next year that we want something different we can return them as long as we have the receipt and they haven't been altered yet! And they will refund right to your credit card, no store credit! Love it. The boys will be wearing shirts with white collars and french cuffs - but we haven't picked those out yet, we are going to wait until next year - and orange/coral ties. They will also be wearing shoes (if you ask my fiancee he will tell you they are wearing gator boots haha but we will see), at least no flip-flops! Even though we are getting married on the beach, I love that the groomsmen will be wearing suits and ties. And as soon as the ceremony is over, they can take their jackets off and roll up their sleeves!
  21. If you got those prices, apparently they are really good because they won't give me those prices... Here is the email I got back when I told her about your prices... Hi Allie, I think you must be mistaken. Our 3 hour scheduled tour sells for US$72.00 per person inclusive of tax and our private charters usually come out to more. Please bare in mind you are requesting rates for next year and those rates may be even more than US$75.00 per person. There are no catamarans here that sell for US$35.00. It is the glass bottom boats that sell for that price. Our largest catamaran can comfortably accommodate up to 110 passengers. Please let me know if you need any further information. Regards, Wanda Hendriks Dreamer Catamarans Operated by Rapsody Tours, Cruises and Charters Ltd.
  22. I have been getting quotes for 70-100 people. We invited about 240 so it just depends who ends up coming.. Same here, everyone tells us they are 100% coming but we will see... I contacted Dreamers... For 75 people they quoted me $5625 (plus 10% government tax AND $75 per person over 75...). The price is for a private 3 hour charter, transfers to/from the hotel, music, open bar, snorkling and a stop at Margaritaville. Food is not included (and is an extra $12 per person). I have another quote from Island Routes tours - $3000 flat rate for up to 110 people and $12 per person for transfers. The price is for a private 3 hour charger, music, open bar, food, snorkling and a stop at Margaritaville. This right now is obviously the better deal but it depends how many people travel with us.
  23. you went on the Dreamer Catamaran's when you went down last week right? i saw that on your other post. i emailed them and she ave me pricing... do you have pricing from them as well? their prices seemed high and didn't include food???
