  1. This is our plan if switching coordinators doesn't solve the problem. I made the point that if they aren't allowed on the property that this is no different than me bringing everything in my suitcase. They couldn't really argue that. I'm still waiting to hear back after my bridezilla moment. My travel agent isn't thrilled with the service I've had from them so far either.
  2. Amanda finally got back to me and said that I can't have decorations dropped off in the lobby even, without paying an $800 vendor fee. My question of, how can you charge a vendor fee when you don't allow them on the property to be a vendor? was answered with "put your complaint in writing." She was even less helpful on the phone than she is in email.
  3. Surprise, Amanda is being difficult and refusing to let me have outside dessert and decorations dropped off on the day. How do I get a coordinator switch?
  4. I considered DIYing my boarding pass STDs but was just too busy to take it on and opted for professional services instead. If any ladies are looking for a vendor for boarding pass invites, here are is the suite I purchased. http://www.serendipitybeyonddesign.com/products-page/destination-save-the-date/tropical-boarding-pass-with-sleeve-save-the-date/ We tweaked a few things on the wording and logos since we did a combo STD/invitation, but used the same colors as pictured. I was really pleased with the quality. Ginger was very easy to work with and people have gone out of their way to tell me how much they liked them!
  5. We're a few weeks after you and our guests were quoted $509 for three nights, and $152 for each additional night. That includes airport transfers. Does your cost include airfare? It was super high from Chicago the last few weeks because the prices just came out. FI and I are also a premium suite and are paying $3,192 for 8 nights. Airfare will probably be about $1k, so yes, $6,000 is extremely high unless its for the honeymoon suite?
  6. Well, that seals the deal for Plaza Zavas then! FI is non-negotiable on having a buffet. Thanks for the info! Thanks for the photo, too, Murmel.
  7. We opted to do a combination save the date/invitation because our guest list is on the smaller side. Mailed them last week, so starting to get visits to our website and questions for our travel agent. I'm starting to get a bit nervous about booking Plaza Zavas with all you ladies talking about Zocalo...wondering if we should consider a change? Also, has anyone successfully booked an off-site wedding coordinating service (like Fresa) with Karisma? I'm not sure how to wade into that -- we'd be having a coordinator do a variety of services (photo, decor, dessert etc.) and I obviously only want to pay the $800 fee once. Just curious if anyone has any tips for wording so that we don't get trapped into something expensive with the resort.
  8. Hooray, other ladies planning far off events! I just finished submitting my design for our save the date/invitations...annnnd that's the only thing I've done aside from booking the resort.
  9. Looks like a great time, Melissa! Did you order the pinata through Lomas/the resort and did you think the price was fair? What was inside? I think it'd be perfect for my day. Thanks!
  10. Yes, let's update it! I added myself. April 2012 Kerry872 - April 11 2012 May 2012 Jennabug May 5th 2012 Mnd3A - May 19 2012 May 2013 kathryn83 - May 5, 2013
  11. These are the best bags I've seen. Does anyone know if they've been in stock at Dollar Tree yet this year?
  12. I pulled the trigger on Friday and sent in my wedding application and fee. Eeek! Now I'm just waiting on confirmation of my date and hoping I made the right decision.

  14. Is anyone currently using a travel agent to book a wedding at this resort? I'd love to get a referral for someone familiar with the property and packages.
  15. Well I'm brand new to BDW, and am thisclose to choosing Azul Sensatori for my May 2013 wedding. I spent this weekend reading the last year of posts on this thread, so I hope my questions aren't too redundant. Our budget is extremely limited, so I'm wondering the best way to cut corners. It seems like a lot of you brought your own decorations. I was planning on using whatever sparse inclusions came with the free or Pearl package, but now I'm feeling like I should budget for sheers or lanterns or something. How little do you think I could get away with? I was also trying to come up with options to enhance my guests' experience, but I'm having difficulty obtaining much information since we haven't booked yet. I'm thinking the s'mores bonfire would be a suitable welcome gift. Then I was considering doing the donkey bar (sans donkey) as a private cocktail reception after the ceremony. We'd follow this with "free" reservation dinner at Spoons (are there other options?). Does this make sense to do? Is there a better option? I don't think we'll have a DJ or anything like that since I'd rather spend my resort fee money on a photographer. How much in the way of extras (flowers, setup, hair) would you estimate you spent? I would love to just book the resort and figure it all out later, but since we're cash-limited it'd help me to be able to ballpark additional expenses. This thread is amazing; thanks in advance! (and this might be a double post)
