What is everyone getting their groom for a gift?

You need to make the appointment. I asked my coordinator and she put me in touch with Veronica in the spa. She made all my appointments and sent me the invoice for my girls.

Does anyone know of a place near DRC where we can rent an acoustic guitar? My father in law will be playing our ceremony but he is a professional musician and doesn't want to check any of his expensive guitars. Otherwise, he can carry on a smaller electric guitar, but it's not the same sound. I'm really having a hard time finding somewhere!

Katie, your point #2 is something I'm undecided about! They give the groom a free room with our package. I'd like him to get ready there with the guys...but we haven't decided if we want to sleep apart the night before. Technically, on paper in NJ, we'll already be married.

Originally the spa wanted to wait til 2 to start my hair and make up, the two moms, and then 4 to start my 3 girls hair and make up. Our ceremony is at 6 so I wasn't okay with that. I wanted time for pictures and hanging out! I switched it to noon and 2 instead. I don't care if it's early I can always touch up my make up later on. I think the guys are going to be at the beach and I plan to be in the spa all day with my girls getting massages and enjoying the pools there. I would like to have breakfast with my parents though.

My TA says if you check in early sometimes you can hang it in the place where the flight attendants keep their things. I am going to try to do that. I'd like to think it'll be possible...I am bringing it in a dress bag and carrying it on. I refuse to fold it in a suitcase. Also I may call the air line ahead of time.

Lots of veggies for your meals...especially leafy greens. I drink my veggies in smoothies...definitely keeps bloat down. Drink A LOT of water daily to flush everything out. You will look gorgeous!!!

You're so welcome!! That's exactly why we did it! We wanted to help other couples out since we were so fortunate to be able to see it. I love the white garden chairs! I told her I had no interest the banquet chairs! I decided on a destination wedding because I am naturally a stressed out person, lol. I didn't want to stress over a big crazy at home wedding. I feel like July can't come fast enough!!!

Some of them even feel real. One thing I don't like though, is someone in the shop smokes...so they had a faint cigarette smell when I got them. It is gone now because I am keeping them in vases in their case with candles to freshen the sent. I think the smell will fully disappear before the wedding if it hasn't already. And I am thrilled with my flowers so I am satisfied! I will say they resort quoted me an outrageous price for orchids too and I really wanted a tropical feel. I am happy with me decision.

I'm using Adventure Photos but I am bringing in a videographer for an outrageous fee. He called them and negotiated with them so I'm not sure exactly what the fee is. They are very difficult with it and I recommend including them as a guest to the wedding and paying for a room for them.

Also, I forgot to comment on the hurricane season thing. Kevin and I chose July while we were down there in June because it happened to rain a lot on our particular trip. We originally wanted August but asked our tour guide the summer months that are least rainy and he said July. You can also google frequency of rain in Cancun and you'll see it rains an average of 4 days in July or something low like that. I live at the Jersey shore and it's not any rainier there than here in July!

Hi Sophie!! That's so cool that you're getting married on the 26th! When do you arrive? We're leaving the 24th, so hopefully we'll have a chance to meet! Don't stress too much over Yamina. She is very nice in person [i met her when I went for my site visit] and she is very organized. She responds best if you number your questions in your emails...and try to refrain from emailing her multiple times before she replies, I find she misses questions that way. So girls, can we talk about vacation clothes?! Anybody buying anything special to wear the week of the wedding? I plan on having a white bikini and a few white dresses for welcome cocktails and rehearsal dinner! But I am so excited for summer styles! I can't get off pinterest hahah.

Is anyone planning on using starfish as place cards? I planned on doing it but I read in past threads that they can be held at customs! I have no idea now. Fiance and I decided not to ship anything, after all of your advice. I'm now trying to figure out how many suitcases we will need. 5.5 months to go!! I am so excited.

We recommended 5 nights only...but some people are coming earlier than us and leaving the day we suggest. Others are staying longer. At first I was bothered by this but my mom pointed out that most people would assume that the bride and groom want privacy and wouldn't be up our butts. I am still kind of worried about it, but I don't think it's worth saying anything about. I am asking people to go down there so I would never dream of offending them by saying they're staying too long.

Anything on Etsy!! I've used Etsy for so much for my wedding!

I'm glad you told me that!! Yamina didn't advise against it, but I remembered hearing something like that and tried to tell my dad who still thinks we should ship. I am definitely not now!!
