  1. Okay, so Kya if I just start making a list of songs and artists then I should be ready for when they ask me for that. with the slow turn around via email, I just wanted to get started. Is that basically what they want? Name of song, artist?
  2. DJ question- do they send you something to fill out with what songs? I filled out the questionaire with mother son, father daughter, etc.....just curious about the rest of the night- any form of songs to request?
  3. My dress is not poofy, it's long and more fitted, but it's full satin and I'm sure I"ll be hot, but I want to be in the dress I want to be in. I say it's your wedding and get the dress you want! If you are worried about being too hot you could do a reception dress too?
  4. Use a travel agent! While I'm still having some headaches, it's so much easier to say "call the agent" and just focus on the other wedding stuff!!! :) I had my bachelorette party last night, getting excited- all the wedding events are coming soon, less than 2 months!
  5. I'm finding people are just rude! I can't believe they would cancel on you for a destination wedding? Most people we invited didn't even bother RSVPing and most are being a pain in the rear with booking their hotel trip etc... with our travel agent. I did a destination wedding to save on some hassles, but others are arising, I'm just ignoring it and figure who comes comes! Good to know on the paying the bill stuff- I need them to fix a whole bunch of stuff on my invoice, it's still based on the original "quote" stuff.
  6. Oh wow Laura, I can't believe you haven't closed out your bill? I'm 2 months out so mine isn't due till the end of this month, but I can't wait to pay it and get it out of my account! I'm sure everything will be just beautiful and I'll look forward to your review when you get back!
  7. Rehearsal.....are you doing one? I know we can't at the actual site, but wondering if anyone just did a small something at their hotel or did they just tell people what to do for the ceremony?
  8. Yes, stay calm. Also one of the coordinators is on her honeymoon so they are down one person.Dennise returns on the 5th. I know when I inquired last year it took Kelly 2 weeks to get back to me, so it's the same situation, they are busy with brides and grooms which is what you want when it's time for your wedding. You don't want them to neglect a detail for your day on your day because they are busy booking another future bride. They will get to your booking- trust me I think Kelly was great (i met her at a site visit in October) however, she took forever to get back to me too. I think we should give the new coordinators a chance to get used to their job, let them do their job before people jump the gun and judge based off of Kelly who, herself took a while on things. In fact I was 1 day out from flying there and she had taken 2 weeks to return my site visit confirmation and I finally had to call. So please don't judge the new ones and if Annie is doing a ton of weddings all by herself while Dennise is on her honeymoon then that is probably why.
  9. Yay for the new chairs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOVE THEM!!!! I'm actually thinking about cutting back on my centerpieces now...so the vases with the sand and the candle are included for free???

  12. The girls (unless you are on Sunday) go over on the Vallarta Boat with the tourists in the morning. When I did my site visit in October because I was there on vacation it was about 45 min- an hour and was pretty smooth in my opinion, although I"m sure it can vary depending on the condition of the water. Hopefully other brides will chime in!

  15. Anyone have the band play? I'm just wondering on the quality of that and the DJ? Also, planning ahead- I know you have to bring your own power strip right? anyone remember specifics on that? Thanks Leslie for your input on videographer- I think we are going to do it, just because the grandparents can't go.... 2 months!!! Can't wait!
  16. KRS398 I think I'm going to give a style with a few specific requests and just let it go, I'm only having 25-30 people at the wedding so they can request as well. I think it's up to people's preference. Some are really specific on music On another positive note...Dennise the new wedding coordinator who is currently on her honeymoon in Thailand just responded to an email I sent 2 hours ago..ON HER HONEYMOON...I'd said I feel pretty good with having her. I'm also curious about the videographer, my grandparents can't make it so I think we have to do the video so they can see it when we return
  17. Wow Laurin, I'm confused, you said you would go anywhere Kelly is...and not chose Las Caletas because she is gone......, yet she was your coordinator and your entire review is NEGATIVE? Or majority of it, those of us about to get married are excited! You and and all of us have a right and can appreciate an honest review, but I'm still confused. You said you wouldn't use the new coordinators because of what you "kind of witnessed" and I know they were a month in of "training" I was there for site visit in October, yet yours was crap anyways? And that was Kelly? All those problems should have been taken care of by KELLY, period! She should've known the flowers were dead before they arrived, she should've fixed the DJ problem. I'm anxiously awaiting the reviews of people recently with the new coordinators. I know one already posted day after wedding with Dennise and said it was AMAZING and she said she is a picky bride. I appreciate your feedback, but maybe on a Sunday they had to call in a different DJ? It was a replacement? Stuff happens and she should've fixed your list. I'm sorry that happened to you. I would complain to her. I also had my hair done by the new person Joel when I visited in October. From my understanding (via Kelly) Fernando decided not to stay with them because of his shop, that was his decision, that is not getting fired- those are two different things. And to be honest I'm glad I can include my hair and makeup in the contract and pay by credit card if need be and not worry about hauling 300 plus in cash to the island. Joel was GREAT my makeup was flawless and I went to Rhythms of the night that night, was sweating BULLETS due to the humidity and you wouldn't have ever known. I met Dennise in October and she seemed fine- she was one week in and took diligent notes with Kelly. Being someone who cancelled my local wedding 5 months out due to Drama, it's one day, you make it what you make it. Are you there for show? Or for marriage- and a I agree that we pay a lot of money, that's why I'm going simple, because for me, it's about the marriage and the people you are with, not the show. I personally am really excited to marry my future husband and that is it. It could be on the front porch of my house and that would be fine. I really think people lose sight of the real reason we have a "wedding" So, Laurin I really hope you have some positive memories to fall back on, I only read a few in your review and I'm sorry your view of the day was so bad, thank you for sharing. So for all of us Upcoming brides, it'll be great- I have not read a negative review on the new ones yet from anyone WHO actually had them as a coordinator. Being a teacher, I think it is very wrong and unfair to pre-judge their planning skills- I have no doubt Kelly was great, but obviously mistakes were still made. we are all human and it's just one day! So....back to the real reason I come to this forum for planning ideas.....Does anyone have a picture of their guestbook table- just curious where it is set up location wise and size?

  19. Lesley I love the BAGS!!! Okay that's what I was thinking of doing and that helps! 1 bag per room and a separate bag for the single rooms... Thanks for the info and help! I'm over here trying to figure all of this out and going crazy!!! :)
  20. Alli- did you do beach bags? I was just figuring out how much it would be if I did a "beach" bag per person with the stuff i want to put in it and it would be $40 a bag...YIKES...and not sure the "guys" would use a beach bag, so I was thinking of one bag per room and putting a mix of stuff for the guys/girls and the rooms where there is just one guy, giving them a small travel bag for their shaving stuff? I dunno...this part is stressing me out more than anything!!!!!

  23. Another question. How many of you are doing OOT bags? Did you do one per room? One per person?
  24. I'm getting married in March and staying at the Dreams in Nuevo Vallarta and we are only having about 30 guests. We are paying extra for a private welcome dinner. It is about $30 per person, I just didn't want to have that problem of not being able to find a spot, sit together, or for it to seem unorganized, so we are paying the extra money. I would call their wedding coordinator and see what they offer.
