  1. I just returned today. I got married June 19 and we stayed on the LH side and some of my guests stayed on the LH side and others on the GP side (referred to as the Jamaica side). I didn't see any difference. They even let some of the guests change from the GP side to the LH side got be closer to us. WE loved it, all my guests were happy and we had no major complaints. There were a couple of things that were not 100% for everyone, but what place is??? My wedding was all that I could have hoped for and my wedding coordinator went out of her way to make sure we were happy. A full review is coming soon.
  2. Hello Future Palladium Brides, I just got back from Lady Hamilton Grand Palladium today and have to say my wedding was everything I could have hoped for and more! You cannot make changes to the colors of the flowers in the packages (however I did receive and upgrade for my bridal bouquet). The package prices include 8 guests and you pay an additional $20 for each additional guest. This covers their seating & champagne toast. YOu can have a private or non-private dinner. I chose to do a cocktail reception so we could play our own music and have our first dance ($15 per person). The food was EXCELLENT at the cocktail reception, much better than anything we ate at the resort, including the reception dinner. Our cocktail reception was held at the Infiniti Bar and was private and was absolutely wonderful!! I had a small wedding (18 guests, aged 4 years old to 68 years old) and ALL my guests loved the cocktail reception. The dinner was at Bubbas Grill and was o.k. Any how I could go on and on, if you have any questions let me know. I will get pics up soon and will post a complete review. Just know that the communication is slow until it gets closer to your date, but in the end all was taken care of and I have no complaints!!!
  3. Hi Mrs. Jones, We actually brought a friend who is an awesome photography, but TrueColors is the resort photographer and some of their shots come with the package. We DID NOT like the photos taken by TrueColors. If these were the only photos of my wedding I would have been upset. If you want professional editing and photography I would not use TrueColors. My husband (also a photographer) compared their work to the cheap photos taken by mall photographers.
  4. The jewelry is really easy to make. A friend and I googled how to make barefoot sandals and watched a youtube video and made some for all my bridesmaids and for me! It was the first time I had ever done anything like this, I am not crafty! It didn't take long, we actually did it during an "extended" lunch break while at work!
  5. Thanks for the link!! I was just about to order stickers!!
  6. I am getting married at the Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton in June 2012, and would agree with the previous posters, response time for many of the hotels is slow so far out, they tend to focus on the brides with upcoming weddings. In speaking with other GPLH Brides, they have advised not to stress on the slow response in the beginning, a few months prior to the wedding the coordinators will take care of you. I have been in contact with someone from sales~ Angelly Arias and she has always responded much quicker than those in the wedding department.
  7. Name: Tiffany (FI is Sean) Location: Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton Wedding: June 22, 2012 In JA: June 19-June 25
  8. Your bags are great!! I emailed my MOH and let her know we were using your ideas as a guide!! My fiancé loved them too!
  9. My experience was AWEFUL!! I started planning my June 2012 wedding in December 2010 and chose to work with Destination Weddings in February. I am so happy I got out of this useless relationship with this company... Now they did get me a group package for my guests hotel accommodations (I had already picked the resort, so I didn't need help with that) and initially the travel agent seemed pretty helpful... Unfortunately getting rates for airlines became an issue. They wanted me to have my guests book their rooms, prior to knowing the price of the airfare and when I kept inquiring about airfare, the TA suddenly went on vacation and I never heard from her again. I waited a week after her supposed return before sending a email to their customer relations agent. Needless to say I spoke with agent after agent and was then put in contact with someone in the corporate office who said they do not even look at airfare rates until we book the rooms. Now, I thought that was ridiculous, the airfare is the bulk of the trip and it could be the deciding factor for most people as to whether or not they can afford to go, but if that was the policy, why didn't someone tell me that 3 months ago!!! I had received a group rate from American Airlines and Continental and submitted it to the original TA and she kept saying she was trying to see if DW could match it so my guests would only have to pay one company. Funny thing is, in my conversation with the corporate agent, and I quote, "I am not going to look into the prices because I don't believe you are serious about booking!" I am a highly educated individual, but she made my far less tactful side out at that point!! Really!! This is a wedding, not a vacation, of course I am serious (as of today 24 people have booked through another company without their help!! Guess they lost out on this $$)... Even after all of this I didn't ask out of the deal.... A few days later I received a call from the corporate agent stating they did not feel they could continue to help me and DW was backing out of the deal and would return my $50 deposit... I was in complete shock!! Nevertheless, I have helped my guests book by giving them a few options of TA to use and most of us have just booked online through www.cheapcaribbean.com. My advice.... do not use this company, and if you do, proceed with caution and start the relationship early enough to give yourself time to readjust if you need to.
  10. Sorry for the multiple posts! I sent the message from my phone and it kept giving me an error message!
  11. I actually ended up going with 16 oz. Stadium cups. They are reusable plastic cups, I ordered fro paperhouseonline.comm, they require a min purchase of 50, so we will have some extra. The cups (tons of colors to chose from) artwork ( we chose palm trees) and 3 lines of wording, plus shipping came out to $59.

  14. Trying to get pricing that far out was a pure HEADACHE for me!! Now I know I took on too much trying to get everything right for everybody. The hotel pricing didn't change much from when I first started looking (over a year in advance), but the airfare fluctuates as well. We told our guests to plan for according to the current rates, (around $1000 for 3 nights and 4 days) and it was pretty much the same once we started booking. I kept trying to work out the best deal, and finally gave up and gave my guests a few recommended vendors to book their travel.
  15. I am bringing everything (checking into the bottled water, my parents are heading to Jamaica a few days before us, I am going to see if they can pick up some cases... Not sure though. If they can't then bottled water is out. It weighs too much!!) but I am going to spread the love in the luggage of Bridesmaids!! We are probably going to do a lot of the assembly at the resort on Tuesday and pass them out at a welcome dinner on Wed. or Thurs.
  16. I am getting married June 22, 2012 @ 4 pm at the GP!! I have been contacted Angelly Arias in sales (not in the wedding dept, but she gets all my questions answered within 2 days max!). Since it is closer to the wedding date, she told me I could ask more specifics about the wedding to a Ms. Carian. I am hoping Ms. Carian is as helpful as Angelly. I am making my final decision on my dress tomorrow, bridesmaids dresses picked, colors (Persimmon & Champagne, my future name will be Mrs. Simon!! Thought that was funny, wedding colors are per Simon!!), 14 booked so far, expecting 15 more. Struggling with hair options, I am African American and my hair is natural and we are going to take a plunge in the pool at the end of the night so I am thinking I may wear micro braids. So far for our OOT bags I am planning: 12 oz. cups (personalized for our wedding) Luggage Tags Hand sanitizers (made by one of my bridesmaids) candles (made by one of my bridesmaids) Linen Spray (made by one of my bridesmaids) Welcome Pamphlet Bottled Water First Aid Kits, Tylenol
  17. Hello Ladies, I am getting married June 22, 2012 ( June 23 was already booked!!). We are booking through destination weddings as well, Sunset2012, do you mind if I ask what they are charging you for accommodations? We have changed the rates a few times because I have been able to find cheaper rates with other companies, but destinationweddings.com does match their price. I am really ready to come to a final agreement, but I want to make sure I am getting the best rate for my guests. Currently we are paying $328 (but I just found it for $320) for 3 nights for adults and $189 for children 3-12 (second child free), but I have just found it for $175 for children, first child free. These are on the Grand Palladium side and include transfer.
  18. Hello Ladies, I am trying to find the best airfare rates for my guests. Any suggestions? So far I have been quoted by Continental Airlines $635 for roundtrip fare from Houston, Texas to Montego Bay leaving on a Thursday in June 2012 and returning on the following Sunday. Has anyone found any cheaper fares. I know it is hard b/c June 2012 pricing has just become available...
  19. Hello Ladies, I am trying to find the best rates for my guests. Our wedding will be June 22, 2012 at the Grand Palladium Resort in Montego Bay. Each time I find a rate and start to post it for my guests, I find one cheaper.... So I figured I would poll you guys and make my final decision... Currently we have: Junior Suite on the Grand Palladium Side: 3 nights for adults $320 3 nights for children 2-13: 1st child free, second child $175 These prices include transportation to and from the airport for bookings of 5 or more rooms. Bride and groom get 3 nights free if 25 adults book and a free upgrade (if available). Does anyone have a better deal??
  20. And here I was thinking I was alone in sister problems...My sister has always been an issue, even though we have been close. Before my relationship with my FI I had more time and patience to deal with her, but now I'm just getting sick of it... My family has catered to her b/c when she is in a bad mood she is hell on wheels... But now with a FI and 3 year old son (not my biological son, and boy does she like to remind me of that!!) I don't have time to make sure the world revolves around her.. My FI invited family and friends to my 31st birthday, which he had planned to surprise me for my engagement, and she didn't show. When I told her about it I got a dry congratulations and are you sure this is what you want to do... She then reminded me of things I had said in the past about not wanting kids, not wanting to get married, etc. Well, things change!! Just bull... But she is my sister and like I said we had been close up until I started dating my FI. My previous relationship was 10 years long and we never had intentions of marrying, had problems in our relationship and would often break up for months and get back together... She also is in a similar relationship and I think she is hurt that I have gotten out of that nasty cycle and she is still stuck in it. Anyhow, with all that said I finally decided on my wedding party, did not pick her as a MOH, but did pick her for a bridesmaid. Her response, or you''re going to have a wedding?? WTH! She accepts, comes to the first official bridal party meeting (the MOH and one other bridesmaid are colleagues so we talk all the time about the wedding) and posts on Facebook... At a bridaly party meeting and feeling left out... I shouldn't even be here!! She then leaves the area we are meeting in and goes into the living room (not her house!) to watch tv and eats in the living room (even though the host has set up an area for us to eat in)... Mind you there are 5 bridesmaids present, my middle sister (problem sister), my baby sister, two colleagues (which she knows), and a college friend (that has only met everyone else once)... And she feels left out??? How?? I don't know what to do... My dad said not to worry with her, she has a bad attitude and I don't have to deal with it and I know my FI is going to get fed up with hearing me complain about her. He has tried everything to build a relationship with her, some days she likes him (especially if he is feeding her for free) and some days she doesn't.
  21. Hello GP BRIDES!! I am planning my wedding at the GP, still waiting on confirmation for my date, but I'm pretty sure it will be June 22, 2012 @ 4 pm!! We are going with the Island Pearl theme. Does anyone know if there is any flexibility in the semi-private and private reception regarding guest size? Any idea regarding clubs at resort?
  22. Hello Ladies, I have read through the threads and realize I can add a different twist to the "stepmom" title. My FI has three children, 2 girls (8 and 17) and a son (3), as well as a stepson who has raised (13). The girls are both from his first marriage and live in a different city. His son's mother (also the mother of his stepson) died from cancer shortly before he and I met (they were also married). The kids are great and we get along well. My FI son lives with us and I have been in the picture since he was 1. When FI and I first started dating his widow's family were not in the picture and the relationship was fractured (I kept telling him ppl grieve in different ways). Now my FI widow's family lives 15 minutes from us and is in the picture (which I think is great!)... We have had a few family gatherings (one at my house) in which my family, FI family, and FI widow's family have been in attendance.... Needless to say we are definitely a spin on the Brady Bunch.... So my new family will include: FI, 2 daughters, 2 sons, and me.... Although it is a bit strange to have your FI ex in-laws present, we think it is necessary because FI youngest son is biracial... So far things have gone pretty good... Few issues with FI ex in relation to dealing with the kids, but she has done nothing to purposeful to hurt my relationship. So when you think your situation is rough.... Imagine marrying a widower.... Do you think we could have our own reallity show!!!
