  1. Melissa727-

I'm sorry to hear of your mom 'situation'.  That can be really frustrating.  I don't know if this is much help, but we are getting married there Nov. 15 and I have asked similar questions.  I heard that the spa does a great job for hair and makeup, just take a picture for an exampe of what you would like your hair to look like.  I heard that even if you don't like it, they'll do it over, no problem!  I emailed the spa to set my appointments and had no problems.  I have a different WC, but I've heard they all do a great job.  I also posed the question about the OOT bag items, and the responses I received were that it wasn't an issue, because they really only check bags when re-entering the US, but to maybe take receipts along to prove your purchases and maybe don't put all OOT stuff in same bag, then they won't think you're going to re-sell it there!  As far as restaurants go, I heard some of them you need to get there early because the food is so good!  Maybe your coordinator can pull some strings for you?!  Last thought...just remember that this is your day and no one has the right to take that away from you!  So, I would try my best to seperate myself from all negativity.  Unfortunately, I know first hand what you are talking about and that's why my Mother-In-Law is not coming!  Good Luck to you and best wishes :)

She has actually told me she is counting down the days until she gets back from the resort.
Please past and present brides if anyone can ease my mind and my mother's about any of the following things it would greatly be appreciated. Ok here are the questions I have:
How was the spa for hair and make up? Were you able to get the appointment times you wanted?
Did/does anyone have Jennifer Castro as a wedding coordinator and what has your experience been with her?
Has/is anyone experiencing issued getting items for OOT bags into Punta Cana in your luggage?
For those of you who have been to the resort, what was your honest opinion of the resort? I mean room condition, food, service, etc.
Has/is anyone not having/had a reception and just had dinner at one of the restaurants after the wedding? Or has anyone booked a reservation at one of the restaurants for over 10 people? We only have 13 people including us so instead of a full blown reception we would rather just have dinner at one of the restaurants but I keep seeing that they don't take reservations.
Any helpful hints for making this as stress free as possible would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

  2. Hi Vancouver Bride!

I am getting married at Dreams PC on November 15, 2011 and have had nothing but great communication with my WC.  From the pictures that I've seen and the reviews that I've read, I am very pleased with our decision to have our wedding there.  Of course I'll post my own pictures afterwards, but enjoy your planning!

We are trying to decide between Dreams PC and Dreams LR for fall/winter 2012. We like the more private beach location at DLR, but not the 2 hour van ride to the airport. Any advice from brides that are considering either resort or have been married at either would be greatly appreciated! Any pictures of the actual ceremony at Dreams would be fabulous too! Thanks!!

She's charging me $80 and the girls $50 which is great, Here in NY they charge $150 and up which is a lil ridiculous, the only thing is we need to pay for her transportation which is $100/each way by cab, I know the prices and that's right around the fare.

I say why not, it's a professional artist, who know what works in that type of climate, for some peace of mind and great pics... I'm gonna shell it lol

    Hope this helps

I looked into Jochy he's also based out in the Capital and he charges $300 to do the bride and $150 for bridesmaids makeup... that is just way too much... he actually wasn't pleasant over email.. I'm glad I found Indira

  4. Hi Ladies!

I'm just wondering what the food was like at DPC for the kids?  Do they have things like pudding, yogurt, peanut butter, etc?  We have some younger kids traveling with us that can't quite eat solid foods yet, but the parents aren't wanting to take a suitcase of pureed baby food!  Any help is greatly appreciated!

  5. Thanks Subbi!  Did you find that most of the excursions were cheaper when booking at the hotel?  I was going to book ahead through our travel agent, but I'll wait if it's cheaper!

We did the Saona Island excursion, the beach is beautiful. It starts with Hotel pick up at about 8am then you take a small tour to the beach destination pick. the driver gives little information about the area. then you jump on a catamaran to saona island. when you get to the island they provide lunch and hang out at the island for about 3 hours. after this you jump on a speed boat which takes you at a point in the ocean where you can swim with starfishes. the area is extremely shallow but it is i the middle of the ocean. It's about 30-45mins around that area and they do provide complimentry drinks. The price was $79 if booked with sunwing rep at the hotel. the other companies were charging aver $100 for the same excursion.

We also did the buggy excursion the more the better cause then they will reduce the price, it cost us $40 per person. This one is for the adventurous ones cause it's muddy wet and dirty, but I loved every moment of it until I got back to the Hotel and realised my hair had loads of sand in it and my wedding was a day away...LOL

I would do them both over again, except for saona island walk with more sun block. I was roasted!

    Hope this info helps

  6. Hi Ladies!

I'm just wondering if anyone had any issues getting their OOT bag items through customs?  I've heard that carrying multiple items of the same thing can make them think that you are going to resell them in their country.  Do I only need to worry about this if it's alot of the same thing or do I need to put items in multiple suitcases to break it up?  Thanks for your ideas!

  7. Thanks jszy10  .  We are not having an AHR as we would rather put our time, energy and money into the wedding and those that can attend!  But, that's where the difficulty comes in because most people we invited aren't able to attend the wedding, and some people are going to want to give something most likely.  So, because my fiance doesn't even want to tell people to give us cash if they insist on giving something, I'm not sure how to proceed....

  8. I have a fiance who doesn't want to register for gifts!  He doesn't want people to think they have to get us something (which I feel, too).  I think he really is just afraid of getting a bunch of things we don't want or need and will then have the hassle of returning it all.  He would rather us just buy what we want.  I've tried to explain that some people will still want to get us something and if we don't register for some things to give some ideas, people will just give us whatever and then we will have that issue anyways!  Has anyone else experienced this or have any suggestions?!  Thanks for your help :)
