I have decided not to use the resort photographer. I am still working on exactly which photographer to use but he is not in my top 5.

I am so glad to find this thread! I had given up on this site since all I could ever find was outdated reviews and info! They definitely should remove some of the really old content. I wish I had given the site another chance sooner! I will be marrying the love of my life June 9, 2012. I am also thinking of making my own flowers and we are planning on renting the disco with the dj. My Fi's mom keeps making sure we are going to have a dj. LOL! The WC for the resort answers much more quickly once the wedding is closer. Soooo glad to find the thread and happy planning ladies!!!

I was going to use the resorts photog and only just looked into their pricing and feel it is not worth the money. Hopefully some of the quotes I requested tonight will be better! Fingers crossed! I want great pictures but have to stay in budget.

Hey! I am also getting married at RMB June 2012. You may have already found these answers but I am pretty sure there is a fee for the beach reception. We are planning on renting the disco for two hours and that includes a dj. We are having the free reception in the restaurant and then going to the disco. This will save us some on the reception but still give us some private time with our guests. You may have noticed there seems to be few Riu Montego Bay brides on here. Most are other resorts. Hope this helps! What is your date? We are June 9th.

I am doing my wedding in June. We thought about that possible problem too My fiance's family is originally from Jamaica and after talking with them and our TA we decided to stick with June. We chose June 9 so that it will be early June and will barely be into hurricane season.

I will hopefully be finishing my first year of teaching in the summer of 2012. We set our date for June after school lets out. I was afraid it would be frowned upon for me to take so much time off during my first year of teaching. Also we found out that it is considered the off season, at least in Jamaica, to go during the summer making it cheaper for everyone. Hope this helps! Happy planning!!

I am using destinationweddings.com and have been pleased so far. My wedding specialist is Christine Kennedy and she has been awesome. There have been about 2 misunderstandings but she always corrects them promptly. She always responds to our emails within 24 hours and even let us know beforehand that she was going to be out of the office for a few days. Christine was patient with us while we waited to put down our deposit for our room, and has already started helping our guests. I still have a year and a half till my actual wedding day so there is still a ton of planning left to do but so far I am very pleased with them.

Yes, we are going to get married at Riu Montego Bay and just stay there for the honeymoon too. We both live in Georgia but we met in Montego Bay at the Holiday in Sunspree so we thought it appropriate to go back there to get married.
