  1. There a good chance they will blow away. We were there in November and it was windy almost every night.  Better to be safe than sorry :)

Past moon brides that had their receptions on the terrace along beach.  How windy was it? I have folded standing cards and paper name tags to sit on rim of glasses.    Just worried they will blow off.    The folded cards for each table are  our "photo - instagram/photo site" signs.  Do you think they will be okay or should I put it inside a small frame?

  2. tres leche- it isn't on the menu but it's an option and delicious!

Have any of you ladies tried the cake flavours and have any recommendations? My wedding planner is saying they have to get the menu in 1 month before to order ingredients, etc. so we missed our chance to try everything.  I got sent this for cake flavours:

    Flavor:

     **vanilla  (vainilla filling)

    **Chocolate (chocolate filling)

    **Strawberry (natural strawberries filling)

    **Lemon (lemon cream)

    **Red Velvet  (cream cheese)

    **Cheesecake

  3. I was married in 2012 and what was on the final Purchase order that I paid for before i left was exactly what my bill was- I didn't change anything once I got to Mexico- my wedding coordinator did through in some freebees but I did not add anything extra.  Just make sure you save EVERYTHING- all emails and purchase payments- the resort did try to recharge me the Purchase order bill when I checked out but I had my email and receipt printed out in my wedding binder and after I showed them that there were no issues!

I totally agree. I live in Las Vegas and it can happen here but I honestly think you should at the very least be given two options. I am so nervous about everything because it seems you are at their mercy. My husband to be is concerned that the pricing will all change drastically when we get there and we will be screwed I have 60 or so people coming and I wake up with nightmares all the time about it. Please tell me it was smooth...

Can anyone who has already been married at Moon Palace confirm that prices you were given and services provided were accurate? My budget is about $15,000 and not a penny more. From the start Moon Palace seemed to be the most bang for your buck so to say but now I am second guessing everything after seeing the insane vendor pricing for DJ and Photo. I was told a number of things were included since we have more then 75 rooms booked only to find out that they actually just changed what is available for 2015 weddings. Now it seems you only get free room nights which I am not interested in so much. Anyways I am grasping at a glimmer that someone had a great EASY experience when it came to final billing and day of. Anyone??

  4. Congrats @@november15.

I had my wedding on the beach and loved it! I had always dreamed of getting married on the beach!

Tres Leche cake- we didn't each much but what we tasted it was delicious!

We called ours a rehersal dinner- so everyone wore nicer clothes they would wear to a rehersal dinner- dresses and button down shirts for the men.

I'm not certain about the football but I'm sure somewhere will show it!

I did not have a dj- i just rented the ipod hookup from PSAV for $200 and it worked great! They provide you with a tech in case something goes wrong!

I did not have a HIndu wedding, so sorry I am of no help there!

Feel free to PM me with any other questions.

    Hi All,

I am about 3 months away from the Big Day and am finally getting around to securing all the details. With that said, I have some questions.  I would appreciate any insight you may have for any of the following.

-Did you have your ceremony on the beach?  Pros/Cons?

-What type of cake did you order?

-Any unique ice breakers for the welcome event?

-What dress code are you having for the welcome party?

-Is there a place to watch American College Football ?  Supposedly there are TVs in the Nizuc and Sunrise lobby bars, but how do I confirm they will show American channels.... I know I know, but my fiance and I are BIG football fans of our college team and so are much of guests.  It is the theme of our weekend..... Hoping we can having a 'viewing party' that weekend at a bar.

-Did you find it necessary to have the DJ?

We are having an Indian hindu wedding:

-Which priest did you have?  Did you have the local priest? What was your experience like?

-How was the indian food menu?  Did your guests enjoy it?

-Who was your henna artist? Did you have a henna party?  What did you do at the event?

-What events did you have daily?

Thanks all, and congrats to all of you ! :)  Anita

  5. I did the sand ceremony.  I brought my own sand and used mason jars we etched with our initials.  And the script of course :)

Thank you for your help we only have 28 guests and since a group of them are already members they didn't count towards our 75 nights either way I have no idea what the total cost will be and it's driving me a little crazy! Figured we could just save on the DJ and take the equipment they give us to use on the terrace...hopefully it's loud enough the whole experience has been off but I am excited to just be on vacation and together away from the crazy world for a bit!!

Also real quick did anyone do the sand ceremony and if so what are we supposed to provide???

  6. PSAV and the ipod hook up.  only cost me a little over $200 in 2012 and was perfect! I made my own playlists and have no complaints! They provide an "ipod tech" to stand over the ipod and/or computer in case something goes wrong.

Ok any suggestions on the sound equipment? We have the complimentary package and only 28 guests so it seems silly to hire a DJ but is their equipment good enough to use for the reception?? Any suggestions would help! I am excited to be so close to our date although it has been a bit if a struggle to get any details about even the ceremony!! Please help I'm trying not to freak out lol

If you are paying for people to be at your wedding, I would not invite them.  That is rude- this is a wedding and people don't just invite people to a wedding at home,. what makes a destination wedding different?

If having 8 extra people won't cost anything, they I would just invite them unless you know they will be a problem (too drunk, make a scence) or something.

Sorry you had to go through the stress as well but i'm glad to know i'm not alone in my feelings.21 days to go and still have not closed out our PO and many questions still unanswered.  <_<

On another note has anyone had uninvited guests invite themselves to your destination wedding? or had guests invite others without asking you (and i don't mean a plus one. I'm talking 4 people)? I have about 8 people and counting that were not invited by us in any way shape or form that have booked and are coming. 5 of which neither myself or my SO even know. 6 of which no one even told us were coming. 2 We didn't find out until our TA sent us the final list of guests and 4 that were casually mentioned just yesterday.

Should we accommodate these uninvited guests at our wedding events or should we exclude them for their rudeness and inconsiderateness?   I need help!

Hello! So after doing some thinking and speaking with Brenda, our offsite planner (I call het when I need an immediate answer as emails take a long time sometimes), we have decided to stick with the Caribbean terrace but move everything to an hour earlier. This way we'll have some beautiful photos in the light and will have a view even if it's only for an hour.

Also, for those that are thinking to decorate the pool at the grand terrace, Brenda informed me that it is possible as the pool closes to the public at 6pm. However, she stated, that the decorations will likely not be very noticeable as the pool is not immediately next to the tables or dance floor.

@@smilenstacy and @@LydiaButterfly could you please email me your photos. I'd love to see how everything turned out! @@shan0487 we are having our ceremony on the vena do terrace. Can I see your photos from the rehearsal dinner?

By the way- is Moon still using Latin Asia for flowers? Is there anyone else?

  9. I did not have my wedding at Moon- my wedding was at Sun.

But my rehearsal dinner was at Moon and it was on the verando terrace.

The view isn't as spectacular at night at the Caribbean terrace but it is still cool with the pretty bar and sort of seclusion. (they keep half of the terrace open to resort guests.)  Personally I don't think it's worth the extra cost per person to have the reception up there.

@shawn0487 where did you have your reception? What are your thoughts on having it on the Caribbean Terrace when it is dark? Is it still worth it? Would anything show?

    Confused bride over here =(

    Tia!

You should have been contacted at 30 days.  I would give the wedding dept a call!!

When have other people heard from their on site coordinators? I have 20 days till my wedding and still haven't heard from our on site coordinator. My off site coordinator, Brenda, only responds to my emails about once a week and never answers all the question and requests I have. I'm getting nervous and frustrated about the whole thing.

  10. @smilenstacy should have some grand terrace pics to share as she just got married and had her reception there! Both are nice locations but the grand terrace does not cost extra but the view from the caribbean terrace is gorgeous!

    Hello!

I haven't been on here in a very long time as I have put the wedding planning on hold. I am now starting to continue planning and am realizing that I am not set on anything!

We have already reserved the Caribbean Terrace (rooftop) for the reception, but now I am beginning to contemplate moving the reception to the Grand Terrace (by the pool) so that I can decorate the pool with floating candles and Chinese lanterns. I am looking for your opinions and advice on this. It would be greatly appreciated! Also, if you can share photos that would be great.

    Thank you in advance!!!

  11. Nope :) wait until you have your onsite meeting with your coordinator and she will add whatever color flowers you want on there! :)  I did pay $2 for the orange ribbon because I didn't want it to plain white- I'm sure if I had waited they would have done that for free as well..but I can handle a $2 wedding cake ;)

This looks so good! Yum tres leches would be delicious

Did they charge extra for the orange detail or flowers?

  12. I got the free tres leche cake from the resort and it was delicous! :)

I know she does not want to have her wedding at the Grand Paraiso as they will be bringing their then 7 month old baby with them and there will also be other children attending the wedding.

Enjoy every second of it because it flies by!!! :)

I am heading down to Riviera Maya next Thursday for my wedding @ Iberostar Grand Paraiso, The Adults Only Hotel. I too went through a Travel Agent to get rates but I preferred it that way so that it would be easy for my guests to contact one specific person to book all of their travel through. Some other hotels that we looked at did give us rates directly through them but then every guest would have to book their travel on their own and we didn't want that. At the Grand there wasn't a complimentary package, they had 3 packages available but we knew we would be spending more for extras anyhow so we chose the Dream Package and still went over what was offered. I noticed in some of the complimentary packages at other hotels, it didn't offer much or for enough people that would have accommodated the amount of guests we were having so we would have spent money with the free package as well.  Good luck deciding. Can't wait to get down there!

  14. You won't sign your PO until 30 days out- at least that's how it was in 2012.  But I would def give them a call to see what is going on! :)

    Hi everyone,

I am having a "small" problem. Dulce is our wedding coordinator and our wedding is November 25th, i havent received an email from her since January 30th and over the last month i have sent her at least 2 emails requesting information on how she would like us to complete payment for our wedding collection. I havent heard back from her- in fact i havent heard back from her on an email i sent in february. I am starting to get concerned as the issue from february is why we havent signed our PO yet.

Does anyone else have Dulce? is she still arround? Has anyone else experianced lack of response to this extent?

im not exaclty sure how to escalate this or if it is worth escalating. how long would you wait for a response?

only 4 months 18 days to go :)

  15. I believe the only thing open 24 hours is the room service.

Does anyone know if there is a 24 hour restaurant at the resort? I know most all inclusives do have atleast one small buffet open 24 hours or past midnight but for Moon Palace i've only seen the restaurants open until 11 pm the latest and 24 hour room service.

@@shelikespink did you happen to find out the answer to your question about having an event after midnight?

Oh geeze....okay thanks for the heads up.  How did you go about getting assigned a new coordinator when the time came?  Just want to be prepared in case that happens to her as well- hopefully she's changed and has gotten better..fingers crossed!!

I hope you get all your answers answered- once you get your on site planner assigned it should be smooth sailing! :)

She's the coordinator i had and got replaced. She was quick to respond but her problem was that i could not get any information from her, she wasn't helpful at all. I had to ask the same question 50 times before i received a straight answer. For example she sent me the list of approved photographers for the resort and i had to find out on here that none of them were approved anymore and that i would now have to pay the vendor fee for the photographer i booked from the list because he was no longer approved.

I wish your friend lots of luck. My advice to her if she stays with Margarita is to be persistent and constantly call her.

    The one i have now is Brenda. She is better with answering questions and assisting in helping to plan but she's taken 2 weeks and counting to answer  a question and our wedding is less than 50 days away. ::sigh:;

  17. Thank you @

That is what I was gathering but I was hoping that a recent bride or soon to be bride would have insight proving me wrong! :)

They are looking into May 8-15 2015 so hopefully they run a special for then!

    @@shan0487

From my research and contact with Iberostar, they don't have any complimentary wedding packages. I think if you choose not to go with their package, you have to pay for everything individually which can be mighty expensive. I tried asking them about group rates twice but each time they told me to speak with a travel agent.  They don't seem to discount much of anything at this chain of resorts, regardless of how much business you are bringing in.

I have noticed that they seem to run kids stay free specials from time to time but it's usually during the early part of the year, for travel throughout the same year.

  18. Hi, I'm helping someone plan a wedding for May 2015 at Paradiso Maya.

I got married at Moon Palace and they way the resorts are with weddings are a lot different...do you have to purchase packages to have a ceremony and reception or do they have a complimentary package and you can just pay for "add ons?"  Are their group benefits/perks for booking x number of rooms?

Anyone have any information they can share I would greatly appreciate it! :) thanks!

  19. We had planned on getting married before we left for Mexico, but we bought a house a month before we went to Mexico so we kind of ran out of time...so we ended up getting "legally" married over a month after our mexico wedding date in our house with our parents, siblings and grandparents.  So it all worked out nicely- aside from my husband saying for that month inbetween time "Well we aren't legally married yet...." that got really old real quick haha :)  The date we celebrate is 11/23/12 which was our wedding in Mexico.
