  1. I think the only pool side reception would be the selva or grand terrrace on the grand side.  Every other terrace is near the ocean at the edge of the property next to the beach

    Hello Moon Palace Brides

I have confirmed our  wedding date to be January 28,2015.

I just don't know where to start now lol

this site is awesome for info.

I would like the gazebo ceremony and a pool side terrace for the reception.

    Jackie,

When I got married I believe this was an option, but I think you will get different answers depending on who you ask.... :(

Does anyone know if we can bring a script for the officiant to read during the ceremony?

I haven't seen anyone post anything about whether we can or cannot write it ourselves.

    Thanks ladies!

Ask your WC to send you the wedding packet. Inside it'll have a description of each of their areas and your options! Happy planning!

What a beautiful wedding and bride you are!! Thanks for sharing!

  2. We did the complimentary ceremony but I think the only difference is that you will take thumbprints for your certificate.  Our ceremony was 15-20 min.  I was told I could not be given a ceremony script nor the vows beforehand because each person performing the ceremony has a different script.  I do know they asked once we arrived to Mexico if we were religious or not.

Hello past brides!! I was curious to find out how long the ceremony actually lasts. I am doing a civil ceremony-does it last the full hour of what is the estimated time? Also, do the coordinators discuss vows closer To time and options or does the bride/groom have to inquire about the vows? Because all that has been asked to me was if we were exchanging rings/own vows.

Thanks for anyone who can answer!

  3. Welcome and congrats! I was married at Sun Palace in 2012 and stayed at Moon palace and had our rehersal dinner at Moon.  We did the complimentary packages for everything- couldn't justify spending thousand of dollars on decorations for a 20 min ceremony when the complimentary package is beautiful and it allowed me to add my pops of color without being charged an arm and a leg! Send me a PM and I'll send you pics to my ceremony so you can see the complimentary set up! :)

  4. Aww that stinks! They seem to get more and more strict every year!! :(  I would think if you are going at a non-busy time of the year once you get to the resort and have a meeting with your on site wedding coordinator she will do what she can to make it as private as possible- they are so great and really treat you like royalty once you get there (which it may not seem like when you are emailing them as I'm pretty sure they have black and white answers they are required to give).  But if you do want something private without having to pay an arm and a leg I agree with Becca that the best option would be to have a cocktail hour and then go and do the dinner reservations.  That way you can cut the cake, do the dances and speeches and have private time before dinner, have dinner (for free) and then go to the night club and dance the night away!!! :)

    Nope, she is definitely trying to charge me for a private event on this terrace - she said;

'if you want to avoid the fees for plated and private  dinner for 20 you need reserve inside the restaurant with the regular guests (no private space).

The Arrecifes restaurant is Buffet style, so you don’t need an special menu. Please let me know'

They are also want to charge me for the plated menu (which is usually for over 50 guests) because i only have 17 guests! im really stuck on this one, i just dont know what to do!

@beccafries- I replied to your pm with the question about the ceremony set up- let me know if you have any other questions!!

  5. It was great!! The weather wasn't as good as when we were there for our wedding (it rained one afternoon and was cloudy a couple days).  But it was nice and relaxing and was great to go on vaca with just the two of us! :)

Thanks for asking!  We are planning a trip now for our 2nd anniversary but inviting the group back this time around- will probably only end up with 15-20 people this time around because it seems to be the year of weddings and babies!  I think we are going to try Hard Rock Punta Cana this time- one last beach vacation before we start trying to have kids! :)

Shan0487- how was anni trip..I know it was several months back :D

Thank you so much! I was very happy with how everything turned out!  Yes it was a great idea which i got from this website- I think it was only $30 for 6 and I was able to resuse them as centerpieces for our open house we had a couple months after our wedding! Must better than dealing with glass vases and it gives off a nice pop of color and you can decorate them! :)

Wow! Everything was beautiful. I love the idea of using blumeboxes and your BM's bouquets!

  6. Yes that is the owner and the same person! :)

I got a reply from Maya Floral and the person who replied is named Marvin Jose Ku Kinil. I'm assuming he is the same Marvin as Maya Diseno Floral. Anyways, he quoted me the following prices:

Bride's bouquets with local flowers like Roses, Alstroemerias, Gerbera Daisy, Lisianthus, Asian Lilies, and local Calla Lily (Alcatraz) among other flowers cost around $135.00 usd to $175.00 usd, including imported flowers like Orchids, Tulips, Peonies, Ranunculus, Anemones, Calla Lily and others, the prices starts at $185.00 usd to $235.00 usd and up...
Bridesmaids bouquets with local flowers cost around $50.00 to $70.00 usd, including imported flowers starts at $75.00 and up...
Boutonieres cost $20.00 usd for almost any kind of flowers...
Corsages cost around $25.00 to $35.00 usd
Low centerpieces with local flowers cost around $65.00 usd to $75.00 usd, including imported flowers cost around $85.00 usd to $135.00 usd, Tall centerpieces starts at $155.00 usd.
Tall arrangements for altar or ceremony cost $95.00 usd medium size with local flowers and $125.00 usd large size, including imported flowers start at $150.00 usd.

  7. You are welcome.  When I got married in 2012 there was no fee involved in it as I know many MP 2012 brides that used that area for their wedding dinner! Hopefully there is miscommunication and if it's not allowed anymore find out what restaraunts you can use the "wedding dinner" at and I'll let you know where is best! :)

Thank you for your post Shan0487 - I was advised by my wedding planner that this area came at a cost of a private event!? i will email her again and see what she says, i hope there has been crossed wires as this would be ideal!

  8. I'm sorry to hear your frustrations.  Have you considered taking advantage of the dinner reservations that is included in the ceremony package?  You can have it on the outside area of the brazillian restaurant- best part- it's free!!!! :)

    Hey Ladies,

Im having major problems with the hotel/wedding planner at the moment and i only have 9 weeks to go! We only have 15 guests but because everyone booked through different sources we dont have any free private events whatsoever. I have now been told that because we have under 20 guests we arent allowed the buffet, we have to have a plated dinner (so the guests cant choose what they eat) at approx. $80 per head - ridiculous! i wanted a quiet/informal do and its escalating in to something that i didnt want at all. another option is to have a meal in a normal restaurant, but we wont be seated all together? they dont seem to be accomodating at all! I really need help on this one please- any advice?????

  9. You are def not alone in the "planning the month"  One of my best friends is getting married this November- which means we can't start trying until after her wedding.  I don't want to try in November because we now have 3 friends with babies being born in August. I also do not want a December baby (even though my husband's birthday is in Dec and he says it's fine)- we just have too many Dec birthdays already.  So that means we will have Dec, Jan, and Feb to try and hope we get pregnant then otherwise we will be waiting until April (which I'd prefer not to have a jan baby either lol)...so fingers crossed it takes us less than 4 months to concieve! :)

I hear ya I suck at waiting too! I am praying it happens soon, because we won't try in March b/c we don't want a Christmas baby. Has anybody else done this, plan the month you want your baby to be born? Or am I crazy? I just think Christmas babies get ripped off, it's a busy time of year and sometimes birthdays get overlooked, or they get a combo present. Anyway, just our preference. My hubby is excited for the idea too, he wants a family and I think he'll make an amazing Dad. He's nervous too, but I think most of the emotions will come once I'm actually pregnant and it's a bit more real. For now we're just trying, and dreaming of the idea of a little mini me or mini him! But I already have a plan of how I'm going to tell him I'm pregnant, once I am, and I can't wait! Getting ahead of myself, as per usual LOL

  10. You pay for your room and you get refunded the money after you return home in the same form of payment.  (I paid with a credit card and was refunded the money to my credit card about 2 weeks after I returned).

That's what I'm afraid will happen with mine and then we won't have enough room nights for the complimentary reception. We've already budgeted to pay for the reception but I would just prefer not to!

Speaking of the complimentary room nights, how does that work? Did you pay for the rooms already and then eventually you would get the $$ refunded back to you? Or did you not pay for the room at all bc it ended up being free? Also, your room deposit...what happened with that? I emailed Marisol about it last week but have yet to hear from her. And I asked the wedding coordinator about it and she said she didn't know and to contact Marisol. Kind of frustrating that I can't get any answers.

But your wedding does sound wonderful and sorry about the last minute cancellation, but I'm glad it doesn't effect the big picture
