  1. As much as I wanted one- it just wasn't in my budget- instead I bought a $300 video camera and had my future brother in law tape the ceremony and inportant reception events (speeches, first dance, cake cut, etc).  We watched it on our one year anniversary and it turned out great!! Much better than spending thousands of dollars on a fancy video that I will only watch once a year! And now we have a video camera to record other important events! :)

  2. 300 people is a lot to invite to a normal wedding, esp a destination wedding so that could go either way- you could end up with 70 or 200!!!! Just remember destination weddings are meant to be more intimate and as long as your closest family and friends are there to celebrate with you that is all that matters!! I wouldn't have changed anything about my 41 person wedding it was the perfect amount.  Now when I go to weddings back home I stress out for the bride and groom thinking about how they have to talk and throw a party for 200 plus people! :)

Thanks for sharing @shan0487. I am currently torn on how many to invite too. b/c My FI to invite EVERYone (~300 people) and I want to keep costs down but want a decent turnout (60-80people). Not sure if we should invite the 300 and hope for 80 or invite significantly less.

  3. They told me they could not give me a script as each person that performs the ceremony has their own version of what they do.  Don't let it worry you- all that matters is that they say your name right and you are marrying your best friend! :)

Past Brides!! I need your help please!

Did any of you have the symbolic ceremony? If so, were you able to get a script of what the officiant was going to say, or were there choices of different scripts?

I am a month out from my wedding and don't have a clue about the ceremony! Am I supposed to provide a script??

    EEEK! Please help!

Any info is greatly appreciated!!! thanks!  :D

  4. I tipped the WC $50, I gave the man delivering the flowers for marvin $5, we just had an ipod tech so we tipped him $10 and $10 to each bartender and wait staff.  Be sure to individually hand each person their tip or they may not share! :)

i know its been discussed buf im still unsure about tips  how much do you generally tip hour wc, how about the florist (marvin) and the dj and decorators (zuniga).

also Ems85 how did you convince them to upgrade ypi to the presidential suite? I'm not good at things like that but would love to try since we have our son and it would be so nice not to have to share a room!

    thanks!!

  5. Karen was my on-site coordinator! She was great and super sweet! You are in good hands! :)

Hey Everyone, I have been on here for a little while but I just wanted to say that I had Alejandra as my wedding coordinator, she was amazing and now has transferred me over to my onsite wc, Karen, and so far she is super helpful as well!

I leave in two days and my wedding is in one week so Ill come back and let everyone know how it went! If anyone has any questions they need answered let me know and I will try to help!

  6. We did the maracas as well!! I love when I go to friend's houses and see the maracas lying on a bookshelf or somewhere in their house! :) Such a great memory! :)

We did maracas as our wedding favors and they were a HUGE hit! We had one placed at every table setting and I tied a note on each of them (the size of a business card) and on one side it said:

"Instead of tapping on your glass, Heres a system with Mexican class. Stand and shake with all your might, To see the groom kiss his bride tonight."

Then on the other side we wrote a short Thank You note to our guests.

The maracas were ordered from Amols and were SUCH a great price! :) :)

  7. Hey Caitlin!

Sorry I just saw this! :) I haven't been able to get on since they updated the website until now.

I will email you the pics after the holiday craziness is over and I will also post pics to the moon palace photos thread.  I took pics of all the gazebos and a handful of the terraces! :)

  8. What would you like to know? we did the symbolic ceremony in 2012.  THe only difference between the legal and the symbolic is the legal they take your fingerprints for the document- the symbolic you just sign a certificate (and you don't get your blood drawn for the symbolic).  No one knows it is not legal unless you tell them :)

  9. You will get your onsite coordinator around 30 days before your wedding.  I never recived a contract when I got married last November- so don't worry- you are fine!

I wonder if anyone can help, I get married at MP on 3rd February 2014 & it all seems to have been so easy something must be wrong.... I have been dealing with Anna am I correct in thinking that I will get assigned someone else at some point? (I read somewhere 90 days before the wedding and I only have 77 to go) I have contacted deco cancun/Zuniga about decorations, ocean photography about live streaming & photos and all seems to be going to plan until I read things about wedding contract etc....which I haven't had or even been mentioned, I haven't paid a penny out either and this is starting to worry me, any advice? What stage should I be at? Thanks for any help brides!! :)
  10. All terraces except the Caribbean should be handicap accessible.  I think all of the gazebos are as well.  The beach has stair access so I would avoid the beach for the ceremony and reception.
