Hi snakcake ) I know how you feel lol, we started planning our wedding in Dreams before Christmas last year, so even though I did understand that I am very low on priority list - it still wanted to ask soooo many questions WC at Dreams and know every detail about when and where we will be getting married. This is where this forum really helped, I went through all the pages of it (I cant believe it myself lol ) and found out tones of information and pictures and reviews of other brides - so after that I only needed to know very few things from WC herself ) We are planning to have our ceremony in Garden Gazebo and then have cocktail hour on the pier followed by private reception on the beach. The reason we chose beach, because past brides have mentioned that it is very nice and quite there and very secluded, which me and my fiance like The best thing is I think, if you are on the budget, try to find out how many people are willing to come, - this will at least give you better picture of how much money approximately you will need to spend on food etc. at the reception. We personally also decided to do legal side of the marriage in the UK, 2 weeks before we go to Dreams. This saved us some lump of money, because we don't have to pay for officiant to come over for our ceremony in Dreams and also we did not have to deal with all the translation of the papers. We didn't mind doing this, but I know some people might all we know that our real wedding day is still going to be 6th March 2012 at Dreams ) (p.s. we do it as a secret, so no one apart from us and two our best friends, who will be witnesses, won't know that we signed marriage certificates in the UK lol ) After reading some reviews on here, WC's at Dreams are actually quite understanding about this too and try to make it as real for the rest of the guests as possible ) By the way, have you chosen your dress already maybe? )) and anything else like invitations etc.? )) If you did do share a pictures of everything you planned so far if you have any, we would love to see ) I remember like yesterday when we decided to have our wedding at Dreams, soooo many things were going through my head its unbelievable...i, to be honest, could not sleep at night sometimes cos I was trying to go over things we need to do lol If you feeling the same, don't worry it will pass and very soon everything will start falling into places ) Now I am quite relax to be honest and all people we wanted to be there with us on our wedding day are actually coming, so all other little details don't matter that much anymore - we just really cant wait to go already Oh by the way where about are you from? ) xoxo

Wow ladies I have not been on BDW for ages now!!!!! Have been swamped with studies and wedding planning and all the family dramas that you get the second you decide to get married lol Anyway, how are you all ladies doing? Have you done much planing yourself? There are loads of new brides I see, yay, Welcome and Congratulations to you all!!)xoxo It has been quite here recently I must admit, but if you do ask a question there will be someone always here that will be able to give you an answer ) I am not sure have I done much planning to be honest, it feels like it, we did pay off all of our travel to Dominican and room upgrades and dresses and suits and photographer etc....so basically we spend a lot of money on something we cannot have until we actually go to Dreams at the end of February )) Do you ladies get the same feeling sometimes? But all in all, things have been well, almost all our guests have booked to come with us, so now we more or less know who is definitely coming. Will be only about 14 people, but they are the closest family and friends from both sides - so we are very pleased with that My first dress fitting has been scheduled for 15th December too, yay, right before Xmas....so as i keep saying, I am cooking Xmas dinner, but I will most likely be eating salads lol ;D I do remember there was a whole list of brides with dates when each is getting married, does anyone know where it is? It would be nice to update it and also add new brides to it too ) xoxo

We are also getting married in Dreams La Romana 6th March 2012 both very excited and really can't wait! @BISCUITS - as far as I know you can talk to your wedding coordinator in Dreams La Romana about the dinner and they are super helpful and will try to help you out in any arrangements do you have a contact of your WC or you have booked it all through travel agent? If you don't have direct email to coordinators in Dreams, let me know and I will send you a message with all the details. Oh girlies btw, just though will share this with you, just got phone call from my wedding shop and they have confirmed that my first dress fitting will be 15th December!!! Yay!!! )) By looking how quickly time passed from November till now...December isn't that far away lol ....but i am guessing there will be only salads and water for me all through out Xmas!!!! One thing you really don't want to do is to put on weight after your dress fitting Hope you all having a nice Monday so far xoxo

Hello ladies )) Hope you are all doing well :Dx MrsEtienne, CONGRATULATIONS sweetie!!!! )) We happy that your day went perfect even though it rained...as they say, it is a very good luck if it is raining on your wedding )x @Mauria, hon I know what you are going through, I have been in your boat a few months ago!!!...I am one of the ppl that have to know at least estimate of how much everything I need will cost so I can relax and don't obsess about little details too early....So I felt just like you, when I received similar reply from Yanna, that apparently they can't confirm any prices at all until you at least get to 2012 (when our weddings are). So to put my mind to rest lol, I have asked her to give me estimated prices for 2011 and told her in writing that I am aware that prices might change...I got impression that because DLR are using a lot of outside suppliers for our weddings they don't want to tell us prices, because suppliers themselves might change their prices without much notice... But anyway, I have received estimated prices based on 2011 from her and now I will just add ~10% to this amount in case prices will go up next year )) (however after speaking to my TA about this, she told me that prices rarely go up and if they do it is only very little - there is never a big leap! ) Hope this will help you and you will be able to receive all the answers you want Mauria from Yanna! :)x xoxo

Hello Noemi sweetie! ))x Glad that you are doing well and your planning is coming along nicely too )) Did you hire that wedding planner after all, or you have decided to do it yourself? ) I am doing well too, thank you hon, been busy doing my exams for the last month and my FI's little girl came to stay with us for two weeks for the first time, so it was all exciting for us I must say, have not done as much planning as I should of, not on our DW anyway, been concentrating on putting plan together for our AHR! ) In talks with the church we adore now, so fingers crossed they will let us have our blessing there (because we don't belong to their parish it makes it all more complex for some reason :/) and found a little restaurant very close to it which looks perfect for our reception So we will have my FI's 30th birthday celebration there this Saturday and will talk to them about our reception too, yay ) Now kind of in waiting for receiving our RSVP's for our DW, as if there will be more people coming we will need to put together bigger entertainment etc. but if very little people come we will have to come up with something different:D Anyways just need to wait and see and August-September will be very busy for us i am sure And as I mentioned above to one of the ladies here, we had our registry office ceremony confirmed this week, it will be 14th February, two weeks before we leave for DR!!! It kind of seems far away, but quite real now lol, very funny feeling But enough about me, tell us all what you have been up to sweetie )) xoxo

Hello ladies ))x Hope you all are having a lovely weekend ) @Soccer1615 - we are doing legal side of marriage in the UK two weeks before we leave for DR too )) We are keeping it a secret lol from our families, cos unfortunately they wouldn't understand, not all of them anyway So we decided to have two our friends as witnesses, as they won't be able to make it for our DR wedding ) We just booked it actually yesterday and even though we know that it is quite cheesy, we are doing our legal ceremony on 14th February About the dress, as its going to be so low key, I have decided to buy a light color dress (but not white, and so that I can wear it some more ), but i love your idea of getting a white dress and then having TTD photo shoot in it I don't think it will be weird at all! :Dx @jessicalynneh - welcome to the forum sweetie, hope you will find it useful! ) As i haven't been to DLR before i can't tell is there big difference between normal room and preferred - however we booked preferred for us, it seems that you will have private preferred club pool and bar, so maybe if you and your FI would like to get away from everyone and be alone before and after your big day, this could be a good idea )) @Britt1222 - welcome to you too hun ))x Wow you have read through all pages here, you are a star...i can't even imagine how long it took you lol I remember when i first found this thread, it took me good few weeks before i read it all and posted something myself lol And you are planning to get married first week of March2012, you never know we might see each other in the resort too, ours is 6th March Let us know ladies when you will confirm your dates, so we can add them to 2012 Brides list!!! Hi Nina and thanks for the hugs :Dx I really needed it!!!xo I apologias myself lol, this what happens when I type very quickly, you are right Nina I meant winter starting 2011 doh lol but thankfully we had all money refunded, however it didn't help that Thomson put their prices up for flights the second they realised they are one of few airlines that actually flight to Dominican now that Thomas Cook are out of the picture during winter! But luckily it is all over now and fingers crossed we won't have any more changes either I guess it is just one of those things that might happen when you book so far in advance.. On a positive note, your renewal of vows sounds fantastic and it is very sweet thing to do after you have been married some time )) We are looking forward on doing it too in years to come after our DR wedding I am sure you will have loads of fun with your family and friends!!! We had the most stressful couple of days in the beginning of the week ever....we received a call from our TA Caribbean Warehouse (who were extra helpful and nice so far and we loved dealing with them) saying that Thomas Cook has decided that from next year they won't be flying to Dominican Republic anymore during winter and as our tickets were with Thomas Cook we are obviously affected by it.... And that's when the stress begun...as there is group of 6 people from both of our families coming in addition to both of us, the lady on the phone told me that they will need to get flights from Thomson, and as Thomson prices are higher and they are asking to cover the flights up front, our whole wedding party will need to pay almost £3000 today or they will give us a refund and we wont be going anywhere..... So obviously everyone was very stressed and it was midday Monday by the time we got more explanations from them, I have decided to go to Bluewater and go to every possible travel agent there and see what deal they can offer directly...I have spend 5hours in there lol and then i got "light bulb moment" lol - the reason why they had to ask for money up front is because they are keeping hotel with Thomas Cook and getting flight from Thomson...so I ring Caribbean warehouse asking can they do the whole package (flight and hotel) with Thomson??? On which the same lady on the phone calmly replies "yes of course" and will that mean that our wedding party will only need to pay £300pp more in total and won't need to pay £3000 up front??? and she tell me "yes".....WTF!!!! (pardon my language) Why on earth didnt she tell me that before???? So i have spend over 5hours researching and talking through 10 deals with different airlines just to come up with this idea that in all fairness I think CaribbeanWarehouse was suppose to offer this deal to us first and not paying £3000 up front on the spot!!!! Not to mention that in those 5hours I have stressed myself sooo much that everything I have planned for this 5months gone to waist and we will need to look for somewhere else to get married.... Well my FI came to pick me up, all drained, from Bluewater only for me to get a phone call from Sara Taylor from TaylorMadeRings that she is coming to see us in 20min....and i completely forgot about the meeting at all with all the stress....so we got home and had meeting with Sara (she was very nice and very informative and we have seen some very nice rings) and then after tried to relax... Yesterday, after sleeping on everything we have decided to speak to Caribbean Warehouse again and set few things that were bothering us straight....our wedding party and us (as we have separate booking from them) decided to take TA's deal to pay extra money to travel because we didn't have much choice....however at the very end, when me and FI were confirming everything we remembered that we already paid extra in our original booking to choose our seats on the plane....and when asked TA will this be still included, we have been told no that's an extra 50£...my FI just flipped to be honest at this point... Not because we mind paying extra 50£ but because if we haven't asked about choosing seats the TA wouldn't even notice and we would have only found out before our trip, not to mention that we ourselves had to come up with solution on having the whole package with Thomson the day before too..... Anyway, it has caused us loads of stress and my advice for anyone who is traveling with Caribbean Warehouse, they are lovely and they are trying very hard, but if you have serious matters like we did, the best person to speak to is Gemma! She is operations manager there and we have been speaking to her at the very end when we were trying to sort everything out with seats and she was genuinely concerned and found us the best options and tried to keep us calm.... Sorry ladies for the rant....needed to share it with someone, because for the last two day I was on and off in tears thinking that we wont be able to get married in our dream location and will have to plan it all over again...:/ xoxo

We have booked it all with Caribbean Warehouse as well and they have been lovely, but been planning the actual wedding directly with hotel - it takes my WC sometimes few days to reply, but in general its not bad About MIL, i am sorry that you are another bride with MIL issues lol ...mine it seems so far not going to be coming to our wedding either...however FI told her if she doesn't he won't speak to her again... @Micheller OMG I cant believe that you are leaving Tuesday already!!!! and your tickets are in as well, its amazing, I am thrilled for you :Dx @ Nicy sweetie you are back!!!!!
