arielh - nope it was no extra because we just had it at the main buffet. i confirmed it with my WC in our meeting, she just reserved the table for us half hour before it opens up for everyone. I think it only costs extra if you want like decorations or something. Realistically, if you don't care about the half hour of private time before the public comes in, you could just rally your group together and go at the same time, in the akumal main buffet for example (we did this for our "welcome dinner" just walked in at 7pm) they have 3 tables in the back corner already set up for large groups, so that's where we went! We only had 26 guests though

Andree- Did you??!! ha ha oh my i was SOOOO freaking hot! Like ready to faint, another bride that got married the day before me, came and brought me water just before I walked down, that wasn't you was it? if so THANKS lol much needed. Megz- We used MAC makeup for eyes, and I used Young Blood mineral loose powder foundation and clinique primer, we didn't have any problems with makeup running, maybe a tiny tiny bit but i don't think the humidity made it do that. TSilva- Ya i brought my own photographer, she was awesome, I just didn't tell the resort, too much hassle. No one even noticed because I had the videographer from arrecife and the photographer for my 10 free photos and all my guests were taking photos. And the WC, photographer and videographer took off like right after the ceremony. I just paid for my photographers trip for a week and she did all the photos (she took 1200 but i assume i'll get around 400 at least or something) all edited on disc for me. Okay ladies, now that my reception at home here is over (which btw it was a total blast!!) I can focus on uploading my photos! Still haven't got the wedding photos back from the photographer so I think I will do my review and attached my photos of our trip so you can see the resort and how much fun we had ha ha. I warn you, my review may be long ha ha then when I get my photos back I will add them after I promise though I will do my review by this weekend!

Hey ladies!! Just wanted to pop on and let you guys know that we're back from the most awesome trip I have ever taken!!! The weather was freakin beautiful, only 1 and a half days that wasn't so nice, that 1 day was cloudy but still so humid and hot so we still went to the beach ha ha I will post my review as soon as I upload all my 191 photos of the resort/ us having a great time. I just been busy getting prepared for our at home reception this saturday Haven't got our wedding photos back from our photographer yet but I will post a couple little teasers Thats all you get for now!!! ha ha

It is a relief!! I had been freaking all day when I first heard about it until they finally texted me ha ha Their not worried about it at all in fact their excited about the storm lol But apparently its super super humid, nothing a little alcohol can't fix though ha ha

Hey ladies, My parents are down there right now and have been keeping in contact with me, the resort is not worried about the hurricane, they only evacuated the villas on the beach (which are reserved for brides and grooms) because of the high tide coming in. They expect 100 mile winds tonight and some rain. Its been raining on and off today. They said its passing fast, should be gone by Friday and its supposed to be nice next week (thank goodness my wedding is in one week today ha ha) We leave thursday night doing a red eye supposed to arrive in cancun at 11:15am Friday so HOPEFULLY our good friend Rina doesn't meet us there and is already headed for Cuba My mom just took this photo about 10 min ago. She said she just saw a wedding on the beach too not long ago lol And Sunshine YES I will DEFINITLY post a ton of photos as soon as I get them!!!! Pray Rina goes away by tomorrow night so I can arrive there safely!!

thanks sunnyee!! My parents are there already and said its bright and sunny. Now they've only been there one day but my dad said the bars close at 11pm??!! I thought there was a 24hr snack bar that had drinks flowing all the time? Or am I wrong? He also hasn't seen even close to the entire place I'm starting to get back to being excited though!! Had a family scare on Saturday, my Uncle who has stage 4 metastatic renal cancer had a seizure saturday night and almost passed, so we've all been pretty devastated, But things are looking up so now I can say with a smile that we leave in 3 DAYS!!!!!! Oh my goodness its getting close!!!!

wesjor17- My wedding is Nov 2 and they didn't change my restaraunt... Has anyone JUST come back from the resort?? I would like to know how the weather has been. Forecast is all over the place lol be nice to know how long the rain lasts for, and is there any tropical storms right now? My parents are leaving sunday for the resort. And before anyone tries telling me I can't control the weather, i know that lol I just want to know if the weather forecast is even accurate to what it actually is Thanks!

Hey BDW Brides!!! I leave to go to Cancun (Gran Bahia Principe Akumal) in exactly 2 weeks, my wedding is Nov 2nd... I have been stalking to weather websites and all it says is "Thunder Showers" for like 25 days straight!!! I'm getting really freaked out that it going to rain the entire time we're there and on my wedding day Has anyone been to Mayan Riviera around the end of October beginning November before?? What was it like? Did anyone just come back from there?? Has anyone else watched the weather forecast like a hawk to have it say rain the whole time but when you got there it was beautiful?? lol i sound crazy!!!! Here's to hoping to nice weather!!! xoxo

ladies, im getting a little nervous, my wedding is in exactly 3 weeks and i keep checking the weather network for playa del carmen and cancun and they both have "thunder showers" for the next like 13 days! Now i know what the weather network says and what the weather is actually like is different lol but im getting nervous my wedding day will be thunder showers!!! i did the 14 day trend and from oct 13-25 is straight thunder showers then its sunny oct 26th and we leave oct 27th lol maybe i have hope?!

Okay so my wedding planner here in Vancouver made me a program/itinerary that I can take to Staples to get printed for my guests. If I can't get it to my guests before we leave, can I just leave it at the front desk of their hotel? Will the front desk people give it to them when they arrive to check in??? Also, some of you have said they don't have voicemail in the rooms, is that true?? Should I just leave a note to one of my bridesmaids at the fornt desk as well telling her what room were in and where to meet? She arrives the same day as us just later in the day. Please and thanks!!!!

KRama- thanks lol i feel better knowing you were happy with yours Sunshine2680- Ok I understand what you meant now ha ha I have a friend coming that is not professional but still pretty good with doing hair for fun so she can fix mine up if turns out looking bad, my bridesmaids hair is pretty straight forward so that should be no problem ha ha Side note: just under 3 weeks til we leave!!! woooo!!

wesjor17 - first off, I get married the DAY BEFORE you!!! we leave in 3 weeks Second, I am bringing my own photographer too. I'm paying for her trip and she is covering the whole day and giving me up to 800 edited photos on disc. Way more worth it even though the onsite photographers are really good, they have a really really high price with it ha ha. I've heard mixed things about bringing one down, I heard one person got arrested for working without a visa, I heard many people have done it without any problems at all... When you arrive in Cancun, going through customs you have to press a button that randomly selects people to go through their bags :s.. sooo im hoping my photographer isn't that lucky one but she is bringing her hubby so he will take some of her equipment and she'll take some some it doesn't seem to obvious that she is a photographer going to shoot something. Hopefully everything works out! Note; The manager of arrecife somehow got the idea that i was bringing my own when I told him i wasnt needing their photo services lol he told me they are not permitted (outside photographers) but if i did want to that i had to email him their full name, business name, website, dates of travel and she had to stay the same length of time as bride and groom ha ha sooo i think they will let you if you provide all that info, I am still just not saying anything and sticking with my i have lots of "friends and family taking pictures"

Just FYI, the video, DVD 25 min with editing is not $500 anymore, it is now $700 USD.

I am getting pretty excited but of course panicking to get everything done for our at home reception ha ha everything for mexico is planned, done, ready to go! I can't wait to show everyone our wedding pictures hopefully our photographer gets them back to us quickly afterwards I officially have exactly 1 month til we leave and 36 days til the wedding!

Hey ladies, I know this question had probably been answered before but for those that have gone recently, they do take American money correct? Because my mothers airline tickets came with information that said they don't take American but I'm positive they do... Am I right??

I think I'm about to explode... Arrecife manager is STILL trying to charge me $700 for the video!! Even after I told him I was quoted $400 and only want a video of the ceremony, the lowest price he had is $500 for a 10 min video of ceremony... I REFUSE to pay $700. So i emailed him back and explained that I was quoted by the WC it was $400USD for a 25 min DVD of ceremony... then I attached the form I got from them that said exactly that, see whay he says. Grrrrrr!!
