I'll be sure to do my planning thread & review when we get back from the honeymoon (30th)!!!! Big thanks to all of you for your help along the way! Cheers!

  2. So....I tried Insane Abs two days ago.  I have never had the chance to do it since my DVD was screwed up but thanks to the link that was posted I got to try it.

OMG!!!  I haven't ever been so sore in my entire core section like that ever in my life.  I feel it everywhere...every inch.  I also have rug burns on my forearms to prove it.  Wow what a workout.  I actually liked it and will gladly do it again.

    Just wanted to share. bunny_4.gif

  3. For those of you considering the dolphin excursion and the photos for it I have a little story about that too.  By no means is this a guarantee for you but one of my guests snuck a picture of the picture on the computer when they are letting you view them.  I didn't go but when she showed it to me it looked like the real thing.  Again, I am not recommending it or saying you will even get this opportunity but I wanted to let you know it might be an option if you just want one shot and don't want to pay for it.  But remember you got to be sneaky!! msnwink.gif

  4. Not sure about using the credit but I can say that the horse-drawn carriage was so worth it.  Everyone loved it and it looks so cute on the video.  Since my bridal party did a performance down the aisle I got to sit in the carriage with my mom in the shade and just relax and chit chat with her while we waited for them to finish.  It was perfect!!

Funny side note about the carriage:  Might be a little TMI but....I have a SERIOUS sweating problem (overactive sympathetic nervous system thing) so....I brought ice packs (the ones that you pop and they instantly get cold) with me in the carriage ride.  Put it right between my legs under my dress and on my neck...it helped sooooooo much.  Just wanted to share a funny story. embarrest.gif

I'm bringing gel beads (they are tiny and dry in a packet but grow to the size of a marble almost) with a submersible LED light at the bottom with a silk orchid or a real white rose in a cylindrical vase. I'm going to buy the vases in Mexico because I'm not going to have room in my luggage! Keep it simple is the easiest way to go!
SxcT's centerpieces were my inspiration! Check out her planning link it's one of my favorites!

My centerpieces were cheap and I was able to bring it all with me.

  6. What a mess!!  I really do feel sorry for all you future brides.  I wish you could all experience the wonderful time us past brides had for our weddings.  I hope it gets better as the days go on.

So not sure if anyone read Kzade about their wedding issues with Palace's booking issues, but I wanted to post a review I Just read on TripAdvisor of someone else who is also have the same issues with booking and not having things run smoothly with their wedding and had to move resorts mid trip.

TO be honest, this is making me question their change-over, service and everything I have been looking forward hearing all of these negative reviews and experiences. I hope us ladies who have weddings here in the next month or so have a great experience!!

    Here is the review:

We traveled March 30 - April 6 with a group of 30 (including children) in 12 rooms for a wedding and weeklong itinerary. Planning started last August through RCI. If as advertised and planned, this would have been perfect for the group and wedding. The Cove has the facilities and location for a spectacular all-inclusive experience. However; NOTHING is as promised. They are a ship without a rudder. There is no management to speak of and the staff that remains is hassled and incompetent as they try to maneuver through what appears to be a major change to Hard Rock that no one fully comprehends.

Our $1500 resort credit was dropped to $500 (not sure where that miscommunication started) so we could not do the included activities on our itinerary, the shuttles to the other hotels (where the wedding ceremony was located) were no longer running and we paid for car rental and taxis for the entire group, the recipricol all-inclusive at Palace hotels does not exist, we paid extra for the wedding, golf, cars, tips, taxis, tours, and double paid in several instances for the family (though no family rooms were available).

On day 5, we were informed that a Jewish Kosher group was moving in and occupying the entire Cove side. The restaurants were closed, the bars closed, and we were forced to pack up and move to the Cancun Beach Resort because the Spa side is adults only! The Cancun Palace is NOT a children-friendly environment - it is a haven for spring break drunken debauchery. Our activities planned for the end of the week are in the Riviera Maya, not Cancun and now we either have to cancel and lose the money for the activity, or pay for transportation down to Playa del Carmen and lose 3 hours travel time. DISASTER. We were not compensated a penny, nor given any incentive to make this major and very inconvenient change.

I am interested to know if any of the prior Cove responses ever came to fruition. We saw this type of ineffective patronization over and over again. e never walked into the lobby without witnessing a disappointed and angry encounter.

To top it all off, I am writing this from our room in Cancun (where we holed up eagerly awaiting our departure and to avoid the throngs of partying minors and clueless adults) nursing the second bout of food poisoning from the poorly run restaurants. Donâ€t order any seafood at these restaurants. We need a nap, as the first drunk teenager accidentally called our room at 1:30am last night, and the halls echoed with slurred screaming until about 3am.

If you go to Mexico expecting All-Inclusive standards - you will be disappointed. If you go to a Palace Resort expecting Mexican standards - this is normal. If you want Hard Rock, go to Las Vegas - the weather is the same and you can drink the water. If you want real Mexico, avoid Cancun altogether.

  7. Welcome!!  And congrats on picking a wonderful day....my bday LOL!!

This thread is very helpful and might help answer some questions while you are waiting for your WC to contact you.

    Happy Planning!!

    Thanks for keeping me sane!

  8. Hi hun!  I didn't buy maracas in Mexico.  Sorry!!

I did a quick search and it looks like MarTeeNi007 and  nicdeb928 and a few others from a few years ago were the ones that used maracas.  Mainly they all say they bought them down there and you can easily find them.

I'm going to be there on the 26th maybe we can meet up before you leave to let me know if it cost you anything? could you also email me that price list you posted (breeburns@hotmail.com - cant download things yet), what was the price to rent the vases? we were planning on buying them from the walmart in playa del carmen. What location did you choose for ceremony and reception?

Our WC is Karime Perez, she seems so much more helpful then the other ones! i think she is my fourth or fifth WC so far!!

I'm so excited for you! when do you leave? we leave in 17 days!

Oh and sxcT - What prices were the maracas you bought in Mexico - just asking because we haven't got a clue what they will cost and just dont want to get ripped off! Thanks!

This board has been fantastic!! You ladies rock!

  9. You could also just pig out and drink lots of alcohol once you arrive at the resort.  That'll fluff you up a bit LOL!!!

initially I hated pure cardio because it was straight through, but as soon as I realized that you did each exercise only once, it became my new favorite. I didn't think of the timing until now in month two. it's the shortest DVD at 45 mins, whereas the others are an hour long. also, it changes the warm up on the third time through so you go back to the month one warmup. definitely a relief as you contemplate an HOUR of jumping push-ups and the like.

weight loss be darned, I'm foraging ahead. I had a piece of pizza over the weekend, as well as a doughnut for breakfast and took two days off in a row (the most since I started Insanity), so hopefully that's counterbalancing the sweat. ; ) next step is to eat more of the healthy foods instead. two more weeks to go (3.5 until the wedding)!!!

  10. Yay J-me!!  I'm excited for you and all you other brides.  You are going to have a fabulous time.  Can't wait to see pics and hear how it all went.

For those trying to save some money I'd hand out the bags when you see guests.  We traveled with a group and then had dinner with a few others.  By the second day we had them all handed out.  It saves a few bucks and you don't have to worry about those who might have changed rooms before even getting to their original room.

What are your plans for the last week J-me?  Fun stuff or stressful last minute stuff?

I have been working with Edith and she hasn't mentioned any set up fee (I'm not going to bring it up!) but I'll let you know when I return on the 28th what the cost ends up being. We are doing the complimentary package, but bringing runners, chair sashes, and most of my centerpieces (renting hurricane vases from them).

They charge $2.50 per bag to deliver the welcome bags to the guest rooms.

As for the bouquets, we are bringing our own, but in the wedding packet - it lists $126 for the Maid of Honor bouquet and 'starting' at $154 for the bridal bouquet - so it's definitely less than $126!

Here is the packet in case anyone finds it helpful msnwink.gif

  11. I did another DVD last week.  Pure Cardio Baby!!

So am I the only crazy one that prefers doing Pure Cardio over any other DVD?  I just love knowing its only 15 minutes - 15 exercises non-stop.  David says that isn't true because of the warmup but that is how I see it.  I know I can put it in, push thru for 15 intense minutes and then be done.  I love it!!

Gonna do 2 this week...I'm determined.

  12. kellygrrrl can't you get last minute alterations a few days before you leave it it doesn't fit right?  I'd stick with Insanity so you feel you accomplished your goal and you stuck with it the whole time.  Then you can get the dress taken in a bit in the areas you need right before you go.  Or is that not an option?

I was trying on my dress this weekend with different strapless bras and noticed it didn't feel tight anymore. in fact, my mom commented that I couldn't lose any more weight or it wouldn't fit. I've got 2 weeks of Insanity left, but I think I'm going to relax it a bit, maybe rotate in some more P90X - I just don't want to get smaller. I'm not sure that would happen anyway because my measurements have been about the same since mid-March. I'm just slightly bummed because this was the point where I fell off the wagon the first time I did Insanity, and I was determined to finish strong.

I've got just under 4 weeks to the actual wedding day (3.5 wks until we leave), so I'll try to devise something to do in the meantime. any suggestions?

  13. I remember those feelings...excited to go and anxious about everything and everyone all at the same time.  I hope the changes don't affect the weddings much or at all.  They do such a great job there so you should be fine.

  14. We rec'd a free function since we had enough rooms booked.  Just had to pay the $12 pp for the terrace location.

We did have a welcome dinner and paid $400.00 USD per table of 10 guests.

  16. Haha love it!!  So excited for you.  We plan on going back in Nov this year too.  How did you book your reservation?  Online or did you contact someone directly to let them know you are a returning guest?  Any perks for coming back?  Haven't looked into it much since I've been working on our upcoming vacation in June.

  17. I purchased it online from koyalwholesale.  I used it around my bouquet and votive candles and then used it on bigger candles and other stuff for candy buffet for my AHR.  And I still have a little left.  It goes a long way. :)

In going back over this thread (I saved it bc you did such a great job!) I noticed your bouquet wrap - where did you get it?

  18. Hey Bride2012...I am a juicer too.  LOVE IT!!!  Sipping some apple, pineapple, kiwi, carrot juice right now....YUMM!!  Thanks for the website and the video...added it to my netflix queue.  I have my moments where I juice everyday and am really motivated and then I stop for like a week or so cause I just get lazy.  Cleaning the juicer really does suck and can be such a turn off.  I definitely plan on sticking with juicing once I start my routine up next week.

I have to admit....kinda scared to start Insanity again LOL.  I know I won't be as strong or have as much endurance as I did but I'll get there.

prayer1.gif (out, in, up, down...out, in, up, down)

  19. Hi girls!!  So sorry to hear what you are going thru.  I know how irritating and discouraging that could be.  First I want to say I bet you are busting your butt and doing as much as you can physically and you should be proud of that.  But there could be lots of reasons you are not seeing the changes you expected or your dress/clothes didn't fit the way you expected.  I don't know your situations but I'm just going to throw some things out there that could be contributing to this.

    - not enough water

    - not recovering correctly (protein, glutamine, BCAAs, etc.)

    - not sleeping enough

    - not eating enough

    - not eating enough fruits, veggies, protein and good carbs

    - eating too much

    - eating too much white carbs, salt, sugar, alcohol

    - supplements (wrong kind, too much)

    - that time of month

    - stress

and the list could probably continue quite a ways.

I would just suggest that if what you have been doing does not seem to work or isn't getting you closer to your goal fast enough then maybe some changes need to be made.  Cut out the weekend booze, cut out the happy hour drinks, cut out the treat you think you deserve, drink more and more water and when you think that was enough...drink some more, try different types of cards or protein sources, and anything else you think may be keeping you from your goal.  And if you happen to feel drained, depleted and have no energy at all it just might be time for a carb re-load!!  Those are fun and very beneficial but please do some research on it before you just start stuffing your face with any type of starch lol.

I know you are all busting your butts...I know how hard Insanity is.  But even with extreme physical activity if your nutrition isn't in line with that then you could be canceling out the hard work you've been doing, taking smaller steps toward your goal instead of bigger leaps or you could be doing more damage than good to your body.

Like kellygrrrl said...if you think you are burnt out then take a day or two off or do another activity.  If your body feels like it needs rest and recovery....TAKE IT!!  But get right back into it and stick to a healthy nutrition plan and once it gets closer to your date/goal start making those little changes and cutting back that little extra something that you can live without for a while (alcohol, sweets, junk food).

I don't know if any of that helped you girls out but it was just some thoughts I had.  Hope you are all staying strong and sticking with it and listening to your bodies!!

Happy Friday and have a great weekend!!

  20. We are going to Punta Cana and staying at Iberostar Bavaro.  We have stayed at an Iberostar before in Montego Bay and loved it.  Seems all the Iberostar resorts are pretty popular and have good reviews.  Where do you want to go for your bday??

I am already excited and its more than 2 months away LOL.  But they will fly by especially with watching our house being built in the same exact time frame.
