Lindobride: Thanks for the advice about the lilies. I will make sure the little things in the middle are cut out. I definitely don't want to stain my dress!! I like the first pic too. The colors are amazing I wonder if I get to choose the appetizers like you did? I just saw cold appetizers but just thought they would pick for me. Hmmm, ill have to look into that! Murmel: I will look into the GM attire. I don't really have a style of shorts picked out yet, I actually just decided on having the guys wear shorts. I was leaning toward pants, but after the ungodly hot summer we've had here, I reconsidered thinking it is going to be way worse in Mexico! I did see shirts at the department store near me that I liked. I may have to take a trip there next week and see if they still have them. Otherwise....back to the drawing board! Thanks for the advice! All: I am definitely leaning towards the first pic!

Yes, I started my search of inspiration pics yesterday...I found a couple that I liked. I like the first picture the best. I love all of the deep colors. I think it would look incredible with my bridesmaids dresses and very pretty against my white dress. The second pic I like the color of the stargazer lily. I think I'm leaning toward the first pic though. What do you think? For our appetizers, we get a cold seafood bar and a salad bar. Our dinners come with a baked potato and corn on the cob. I'm not too sure how I feel about the corn on the cob but you can't really go wrong with a potato. hehe. Apple pie also comes with our meals. Then we get wedding cake too. Hopefully nobody will go hungry?? I just want the food to be good and people to enjoy themselves. If I have to accomodate their diets I would be more than happy to. I want them to have a good time Quote: Originally Posted by Lindobride14 I was a bit worried about flowers for a while there too. a lot of the pics I saw were just kinda "meh" nothing that I was over the top about. You're much better off just bringing your own inspiration pics! I have an email in to Karla to see if we can switch up the menu a bit, but it's looking doubful. Still holding on to trying to have it there! The tenderloin (think it's the same as the beef you mentioned) was a good cut of meat (better than the steak I tried at the Maya's steakhouse) so I think you'll be happy with that. What are your appetizers/salads/desserts going to be?? I feel your pain with accodomating people's diets! FI is a strict vegetarian, (no meat at all, no fish) so we're going to have to get a pasta dish for him. Then another friend is a vegetarian that only eats fish (no meat) so she'll just have to just eat the lobster medallions & pesto potatoes off her surf and turf plate! So complicated! LOL

My guys are going to wear Tommy Bahama shirts and shorts. I was leaning towards having them wear pants but I would feel horrible making them wear pants in July on the beach!! I saw a few shirts that I liked but havn't made them go get them yet. How long should one wait to tell the GM to get their attire? I feel like if I wait too long I would be stressing that they wouldn't get their clothes on time.

Thanks so much your pic helped a lot!! I am just so worried about flowers for some reason! I'm just going to get a bunch of pics that I like and then give them to the florist. I will feel a little better once I pick out something I like. Your bouquet is gorgeous by the way. I love the orchids. As for my reception food, were going to give our guests a choice of either chicken or beef. Karla emailed me both the Italian and the Steakhouse menus for us to choose from. When going over it my FI and I were having a hard time thinking that we were going to serve everyone the same thing! A few of our guests are vegetarians but will tolerate chicken and some people don't eat fish. So we explained the situation to Karla and she said that as long as we give them advanced notice of who is going to eat what it shouldn't be a problem. Works for me! I don't mind the extra work if my guests are going to be happier with a choice. The only thing about the Italian is it's outside and I'm getting married in July. I'm a little worried about the sweat factor..... It is gorgeous though! Also, thanks for the info about Ivan.I feel better about things when I hear about it from other people too. It's good to know how other peoples interactions go. I looked at his sample pics on his website and they are beautiful. My FI both agreed that we would like to go with him but we have to talk to his mom about it because she offered to pay for photography for us!! Hopefully we can get him booked soon!

Just read this about the florist. That is so great that he agreed to meet with you and had samples to show you. What were your inspriration pics like? Can they do just about anything? I read somewhere that it would be good to have flowers that are in season at the destination of the wedding because it can get real expensive if they have to import other flowers. I don't know why I'm freaking out about flowers so much but I want them to be fabulous!

Your hair and makeup look lovely. Glad to hear that everything went well. How did your meetings go with the florist and Ivan Luckie? Do you have any pics of some of the flowers? Which ones did you go with? I am considering booking Ivan Luckie as my photographer and was just wondering how your meeting went? I also read on the Iberostar thread that you were considering going with the Del Mar because of the Italian restaurant. Thats where we are having our reception! Isn't it soooo pretty! Are you switching resorts?

I too am getting married at the Del Mar, on July 20, 2011. I am pretty sure you can pick from any of the a la carte restaurants. The Japanese restaurant has really good food as does the Steakhouse. You can also pay a little extra money and book the Italian restaurant for a 4 hour private reception. I am doing a "blessing" package (non-legal) and doing the legal things here in the states before my FH and I go to Mexico. Part of our package was to have the 4 hour private reception. Talk to the WC at the resort and see what your options are.

I was just wondering what people did for videography who used outside photographers?? I have been looking at a couple of outside photographers who didn't offer videography. Would the resort be offended if I went with an outside photographer but used their video? Would they even allow this? I just need some advice from some other people who are having/had this issue....

I am getting married July 20 and I too am worried about the heat. Not so much about the heat but the humidity....I am just worried about he older people who are traveling to the wedding. I don't want them to have a horrible time. Getting married in the summer is the most convenient time for me because I am a teacher and this is when I would get the most time off from work. Sometimes I just think of me wearing this beautiful wedding gown and the sweat that is dripping from me....

I don't know what we're going to do yet but we'll probably just spend the money and book him. I want a good DJ and they seem to be the best! I just booked Doremixx and that is the price that I got as well. He was the only DJ that I looked at because he got such great reviews. To me, I would rather pay the money and have a great DJ and that my guests have a great time!!

We are also doing the cocktail hour in an area right outside the restaurant. Good luck!!! I am also getting married at the Del Mar and am having our reception in the Italian. As for the cocktail hour I havn't thought much about that yet. That is a good idea about having it right outside the restaurant. Is there a bar there? The only bar I can think of is at the pool. Who is your WC?

I may just have them do whatever they want for shoes & jewelry since I already bought their dresses, but if I find a really good deal, I'd like to get them their jewlery and give it to them at the bridal shower. As for their shoes at first I wanted them to all match since their short dresses, but now I think I'm just gonna tell them to wear any pair of silver heels they want. What r you doing about shoes? As for the hair, how many bridesmaids do you have? If it's just a few, I would consider asking your cousin. I see what you mean about her having the kids and herself to worry about, but is she married? Can her husband take care of the kids? Honestly, seeing that it's sooo expensive to get it done at the resort, I would at least ask. Frame it as a joke and see how she reacts to test the water You could offer her the spa servies you're not using as a thank you gift. For the jewelry I was thinking of pretty crystal earrings and maybe a necklace to match. I love swarovski and seeing that I only have 4 bridesmaids I can splurge a little and get them nice jewelry. I have seen pics on this forum of bridesmaids wearing starfish necklaces and I think they are so cute!! I might get them starfish necklaces with crystals in them to the match the earrings. I might go with a whole starfish jewelry theme!! I am also a big fan of really big costume rings. Maybe I can find a starfish one too. I havn't been looking at jewelry websites yet but if I find one I'll definitely pass it on. For shoes, I am going with flip flops all the way! I am having a beach ceremony so the wedding will be barefoot and then once we are off the sand everyone will be wearing flip flops. I got my dresses at Davids Bridal and they have flip flops there to match the colors of the dresses so I will get the girls their flip flops for them as one of their gifts too. I couldn't fathom the thought of wearing heels to the beach!! I have four bridesmaids so including myself there would be 5 heads for my cousin to do. It's not that many so I think I will take your advice and frame it as a joke and see what she says. I also LOVE your idea of offering the spa services to her as a thank you for doing our hair. With taking care of 3 kids (two being 2 year old twins) she doesn't get a lot of time for herself. I'm sure she would love a massage or two!! Her husband will just have to watch the kids while she treats herself for a change!! I want to have all of the bridesmaids do "updo's" for the wedding as I think it will look nice if everyone has the same hairstyle. How about you? What are you thinking about for hairstyles?
