  1. OMG i am beyond excited!!! I'm so looking forward to seeing/hearing how yours turns out! so far we've reserved our wedding date and time slot and are just currently working with our TA to find the best possible package so we can book!!! As for the wedding package, i'm doing pretty much the exact same thing as you! The free package then upgrade the cake and champagne if needed. Also want the Steakhouse for supper. That's amazing that you already have 40 people booked! I can't wait until we actually book and get our save-the-dates out so we can see how many we'll actually get.
  2. I just love your bags!!! great job! You've given me lots of ideas for mine - I especially like the idea of distributing them before leaving for the wedding so you don't have to worry about bringing them all to the island yourselves!
  3. Hi Deb!! I'm new to the forum and will also be a Riu Negril bride! this thread has definitely been helpfuly. can't wait to see more reviews and pics
  4. Hi Lisa! First of all - Congrats!!! your pictures look absolutely beautiful!! My fiance and I are currently in the process of reserving an April 9, 2011 wedding date at Riu Negril and it was so helpful reading your review. After reading about your experience I don't doubt my decision on picking this resort one bit! If you don't mind, I may have some questions for you as we get further into our planning process.
  5. plentyoffish.com of all places!!! it had been a year since the awful heartbreaking end to my last relationship... (turns out my fiances previous relationship ended the same way). I was living in a town where I had no friends and was not a fan of going to bars, so online dating was my only option. I came across a RossGellar on POf one day and as cheesy as it sounds, I'm not going to lie.. I kinda gasped when I saw his pic and new at that moment I had to be with him. I went totally out of character and sent him a message right away and proceeded to wait! When I noticed I had a message back from him I got those major butterflies in my stomach....the good type of butterflies which I STILL feel every day when I know I'm going to see him soon! We talked every single day for about a month before meeting. As crazy as it sounds, I invited him over to watch a movie and help me eat some chocolate cookies - his fav. From that moment on, we never looked back! We quickly became the best of friends and 8 days after our 2 year dating anniversary, he proposed!
  6. Hi fellow April 2011 brides!!!!! My fiance and I are in the process of reserving our wedding date of April 9 and timeslot at the Riu Negril in Jamaica!!! can't wait!! We have an engagement photo shoot within the next 2 weeks (our wedding gift from a friend who is a photographer) after which we will work on sending out our save-the-dates!

  8. Congrats!!! I'm also a newbie and a Jamaica 2011 bride! can't wait to hear how your planning process goes!
  9. Hi Everyone!! An April 2011 bride here!! Last month I got engaged to the most amazing man! (I'm sure we all say that right?! lol) He proposed May 8 literally in the middle of a run while I was all sweaty and in workout mode! lol We are now working on planning a DW. We have chosen to forego the traditional at home wedding mostly due to funds. Me being a young homewoowner and him just completing school (he had gone back as a mature student) we just can't justify spending near $15-$25K on one day! We have decided a DW is the best way to go for *US* and can't wait to proceed on our planned budget of only $5K. April 9, 2011 will be our big day - hopefully at the Riu Negril in Jamaica! my parents are 10000% on board, but we're still trying to convince his parents that we'll be perfectly safe there next year. I'd say they're about 70% on board right now. (being Polish, they're not too thrilled that we're not going to do a traditional wedding.... and it's not helping that there are problems on the island right now either) Hopefully things get better on Jamaica soon and planning can proceed! I've already learned a lot while browsing these forums over the past few days and can't wait to get to know some of you!
