There is a wedding one hour after ours and as kind as I'd like to be, I want for choice! :-) Yea, forward thinking/picky FI call it what you will. But I hear ya on wanting your choice over being kind - of COURSE you do! It's your wedding!! I'm sure you'll get what you want (it's still waay early). Ours is at Plaza Zavas. I'm not sure if the Zocalla location is still available for Private receptions but our WC pretty much said this was the option for outdoor/private/covered space for dancing etc. Quote: Originally Posted by bigboponthebeach Yes, I was told that to qualify for the free package our room had to be a Premium room or higher. Our TA said you have to book 7 nights in the premium suite or higher and the additional 15 nights of guests booked in any class of rooms. Thanks for helping clarify that for me ladies! I think I'll wait and see if I feel that premium is worth the difference b/w the $950 Pearl Pckge and the "Free" Package (hardly free if you think of it that way hahaha). But you could request special soaps and room fragrances for free. Plus the premium section has the pool butlers, I don't think the other areas do. I was sad to move into the Honeymoon Suite on my wedding day to lose the swim up suite (although moving was a great idea because that suite and balcony are just HUGE with great views). The only difference with the premium is the Jacuzzi outside in addition to the inside one. The pool water is warm at night and we hardly even had to use the jacuzzi’s while we were there, I don’t think the extra money is worth going premium. I was there May 2010 for 2 weeks and the towel cards were in effect. Maybe premium sections have better towel privileges? Thanks for the info on this ladies. One question about swim ups... since most of the pools close at like 6pm (I think that's the case anyways) are you able to use the outside jacuzzi &/or little pool section outside your room AFTER those regular hours? Am I totally wrong that the pools close like that? If so please set me straight.

"Thanks, I don't need a towel. I'm just going to swim home!" hmmmm, makes me wish I was there right now... and DEFINITELY makes me lean more towards the upgrading. Were you in the premium swim up? Do you recommend?

Welcome and Congrats on your engagement! Like others have said, take some time to check out various resorts to see which best meets your wants and needs. There are so many great ones to choose from!! Good luck in your planning.

Congrats and Welcome!! This site is so amazingly helpful, especially for all the planning details.

congrats and welcome!! You'll find so much great information here. I'm sure us brides are often bias towards our own chosen resorts but there are a BUNCH of great ones to chose from. I would suggest trying to pick some of the things that are important to you, ie. family friendly/adults only; close to Cancun/more remote location; good food, great disco, amazing beach etc. That might help you narrow down some of the choices based on what each resort has to offer. Good luck in the picking

Congrats and Welcome. There's so many fantastic resorts to choose from. Many are children friendly as well. I know that we're going for the Azul Sensatori and it's very family oriented. Good luck in your selection process!

Hopefully that helps! Ok, you'd THINK I'd be clear on this by this point but I'm still confused. My WC said we (bride&groom) have to book minimum 7 nights in a premium level or higher... plus the additional 15 nights by other guests. ... Is that the same thing others were told? I'm just wanting to be sure we need to book in at that high of a level (because I was originally planning on saving the upgraded room for our honeymoon). I'm not clear if others were told that it makes a difference what level of room they book in themselves.

Bigbop - re: the reception site. I knew from the get-go that the private reception was important for us and I was concerned the same way that with possibly 2 weddings/day there might be a conflict. I knew we'd want it outside but prefer NOT the beach. So, I booked Plaza Zavas when I booked my date. I wouldn't provide my deposit to Karisma until I had confirmation that I could have BOTH the ceremony date/time as well as the reception location. It took a long time to get confirmation on it and I was worried I'd lose my date entirely - but it worked out. Of course now, depending on how big our group gets, it looks like we may have to readjust our planning if we're too large for the space. But I'm not going to worry about that yet. :-)

The new package states "uncovered ceremony chairs" without a number...that makes me think that it is as many as you need since they don't have a specific listed. I would still double check though Yes, I agree that this appears to be the case now and haven't been told differently from my WC (this is AWESOME when looking at a large wedding group!) I know some people took a while to get confirmation of their dates but 7 weeks seems a bit excessive to me.

I think we are going with the pearl package too. I think the 40 people means they will reserve you a section of the restaurant that will seat up to 40 people. You will still need to pay for any chairs you need over the 12 they give you for your ceremony. I have Carolina too, how are you finding her? How long does it take before you hear back from her? That's strange. Ask Carolina about the free sweet wedding package. She knows that I'm Canadian and didn't say ANYTHING about that affecting the free package. That should be available to everyone from what I know. She just said as long as we book in a premium level for 7 nights (which I still don't know if we'll do/how much it would cost etc.) and have the 15 room nights for guests (at any room level) then we'd qualify. The other packages tho - like the Bride & Groom stay free, apply so far to USA brides only. There's a Canadian one that is available at every hotel EXCEPT AS. (I'm very frustrated about that one and Carolina and I have been going back and forth on it a bit). As for the 40 people - yes, that's for the restaurant reservations. But Carolina also said she hasn't heard any word on chair restrictions for the ceremony in the new packages, unless you're doing chivalry chairs and or chair covers/bows, are still additional costs (I personally am saving that email as to me, that means there isn't a 12 chair restriction anymore. The old package was very clear on it). So far I'm a bit indifferent about Carolina to be honest. Her turn around time is usually a day or so (although sometimes longer)... She doesn't really seem to be a wealth of knowledge or very eager to try and get a girl a good deal (this comment from various discussions with her)... BUT she is very precise with her answers to my questions, never misses an answer and I'm hopeful that as we move closer to my date and I'm going back and forth more and more with her and getting to know each other that things will continue to improve. - - definitely don't have any serious COMPLAINTS about her at all so far.

AmyKH your makeup looked fantastic!! I think I might try and follow your lead. Something to add to this non-existent "to do" list of mine (figure out wedding makeup). :-) Linds I can't believe you leave in 2 weeks. And Daniepps, you're even sooner than that?! So excited for you girls!! Is momichele around much on here? I'm not sure I know her well... she's in like 3 days!!

The Sauvignon Blanc was really good - I wish I could buy it - hint of grapefruit, my fave. The pinot noir was nice and they served it at the correct temperature. I was scared they were going to do room temp/too hot. I also tried the cabernet and that was good too. We stupidly ordered special wine for our wedding from Lomas - DO NOT DO THIS!!!!! We did drink the house sparkling wine too and it was OK, I like mine more like prosecco - so drier - but hey, they poured it like water and we must've drank 12+ bottles at our cocktail reception VERY glad to hear this. I've not heard very many good things about Mexican wine and that's what I usually drink - so glad to know that it is drinkable (by the kilo hahaha). Wear a SPF face lotion and then apply foundation on top. The problem she says with foundations/powders with SPF is that with the camera flash you get a white complexion due to the reflection! Thought I would pass that one on.** I think I will likely do my own makeup, just have to buy some good quality products! But I will have my hair and BM's hair done at the salon. That's a fantastic tip! Thanks. I generally try and avoid face lotions with SPF in them on a day to day basis (my doctor has told me that SPF carries a lot of the estrogen hormone in it and if you've got a family history of breast cancer excess estrogen is not actually a good thing - - - random info). But I will be sure to get it in the LOTION and not the makeup for the wedding, as I'm sure I'll be needing the SPF down there regardless!

For any of you brides who did their own makeup how did you get it to stay all day/evening in the hot weather? Did you use a makeup fixative spray or whatever those things are called? I go back and forth on whether to try and do my own or get it done at the spa like some of you other ladies are talking about.
