  1. I'm hoping to do something like this. However, I think almost everyone is arriving on the same day (as us) ... so I'll probably just hang out in the lobby for a good chunk of time and give them out. Glad to hear it's easy enough to get the room numbers for those that I miss.
  2. Congrats on the legal day!!! Also on the upcoming trip. Have a blast. So happy for you and can't wait to hear all about it when you return.
  3. I think those colors look fantastic together. Really like the inspiration boards that the others dug up! Not from what I've seen so far. I'll keep you posted if my WC manages to work anything out for us. I'm VERY frustrated by it because it feels like we get no deals, despite the fact that usually Canadians have to pay more to travel etc. Sigh.... like I said - will update you if I hear any good news. They're not working for me either?! Would love to see Monograms Version 1.pdf
  4. I agree with everyone that it will be awesome in the end. and the ladies here must have TOTALLY worked their butts off to make this major overhaul. It looks great. (But I still fear the change. hahaha)
  5. Bigbop - I spoke with my TA about the upgrade to premium. Looks like it will cost us about 1100 or 1150 to upgrade to the premium level. Given that we would then "save" the $950 to downgrade to the Free Sweet Wedding Package, I think we'll probably go for it. Other than losing the bridal bouquet it seems to me like you get more with the Free Package and for just a little more we're getting the significant upgrade in accommodations. Hopefully your TA will have similar news for you. #2. I lied about my pic - it's back up on here now. #3. It won't let me delete the photo out of the quote (sorry, it's there for no reason and not related to my response to Bigbop).
  6. aaah! New Forum?!?!?! Changes to the look?!?!?! (This feels like when facebook decided to change its look all over again). I'm a lawyer. We fear change. Sigh Guess it's going to take some getting used to. Anyone else freaked out? heehee. Hey... my pic is gone too. It took me FOREVER to get that in place!

Wow! all those big decisions coming together. That must be so exciting for you.

I know that if we book at least 15 rooms we stay for free, but I feel like a discount should be offered to our families? Any insight would be helpful, I have nooooo idea what I am doing Thx, Lauren Congrats and welcome!! I'm one of the other brides getting married that week (May 27, 2011) so we'll be there at the same time! FUN. As others have said it's really worth going back and reading this threat from around page 400 on... it takes forever but gives you answers to soo many questions. I hope you get a great deal for booking lots of rooms. Many brides here have seemed to have lots of luck with that. I think it depends on when you're booking/where your from a lot etc. (we haven't managed to swing any deals as of yet - other than a good price for our guests - because we're coming from Canada). Anyways welcome welcome! So much to think about. Thanks Gemma Again another welcome to you and Congrats on your engagement and picking the hotel and date!! If you've just booked I bet you'll find out who your offsite WC is pretty soon. They'll have tons of information for you. Also this site is just a god-send for information and feedback on the resort. So happy you've found your way here!
  9. Congrats and Welcome to the forum!! So many great resorts to look at. I'm sure one of them will be perfect to meet your needs. Enjoy the planning!
  10. Welcome and Congrats. This is DEFINITELY the place to come for help and answers to the many questions that arise in planning a DW. Enjoy!
  11. Congrats and welcome!! This forum is amazing. Good luck in your planning
  12. Hi Ladies, I've had guests here all weekend so no chance to stop by. Luckily things weren't too busy on here so it didn't take all that long to catch up. (Unusual I must say) Quote: Originally Posted by amybermuda Hi Ladies! Before I go back and read what's been going on, I wanted to write you to say I just had super fun AHR! If that was my wedding I would have been a stress case. and you know what? THANK GOD I DID A DW!!! All the stress and stupid crap we encounter dealing with family and travel issues, Miami coordinators, Lomas, then going through the hotel staff - yes I know its hard - but my wedding in Mexico was stress free and carefree and awesome. Saturday solidified my destination wedding choice that much more. I mean, 1/2 my guests would have missed my ceremony had we been having a traditional wedding on Saturday. I only have a few pictures of the party - I'll do a review later once I get the better pix. Picasa Web Albums - Amy - Stateside Rec... The after party was a bit insane.... hehe Hope you all had a great weekend!! Sorry to hear about the stress of it but so glad it all turned out to be fun in the end (despite the weather). It looked like everyone had a GREAT time! Congrats!! Quote: Originally Posted by amybermuda annnnnnnnnddddd my slideshow is up! I am obsessed!!! If you order is less than 20$ canadian there are no extra charges is what i was told by ups in the us and ups in canada. My total order was about 26$ for the maracas and about 40$ for the shipping costs which only works out to about 2.50 a maraca which still isn't bad so i am considering it still but i may ship to a friend who is coming in florida for only 10.55$ on top of the 26$ for the maracas. Hope this helps! SOO helpful! Thank you so much. I'm thinking I'll get them shipped to FILs in New Jersey and either pick them up when we next go to visit or have them bring them straight to the resort. So appreciated
  14. Congrats and welcome. This forum is totally addicting but full of TONS of helpful people and information.
  15. Welcome and Congrats on your engagement and your resort choice!!! This forum is filled with amazing information and support. Enjoy!
  16. There's just so many... what about Ocean Coral & Turquesa, Barcelo Maya and the NOW Jade Riviera. Those might be good ones to take a glance at? (I of course think the Azul Sensatori is ideal b/c it's where I'm getting married).
  17. Welcome Chantelle!! Whereabouts in BC are you from? I'm from Vancouver. Always nice to see another local bride. There are so many amazing resorts to chose from and it can be really tough (I think the hardest part in the whole process). I know that the family friendly and private reception options were really important for us and they aren't an option (or sometimes a reasonably priced option) at all resorts. We ended up going with the Azul Sensatori and I feel really comfortable with our choice. Not sure that they have much in the way of adventure activities that aren't an additional expense - but it's a place to consider anyways. I'd suggest glancing at the threads for some of the resorts you think you might like and checking out if they offer what you're looking for. Good luck in the planning!
  18. Welcome. From what I've heard the best guaranteed white sandy beaches are often close to Cancun (if that helps at all). But there are sooo many great resorts to chose from! Congrats on the engagement and best of luck in the planning!

Even though we packed them in a bunch of newspaper in a suitcase, they got banged up and the paint chipped. hmmmm, I wonder if there's any way to protect the paint so to speak... something to spray on them or anything. Good to know tho. Thanks for the heads up.

I needed them. It has been such a rough week. On top of all of the wedding stuff, FI got into a car accident, his family dog was put to sleep this morning and we just found out his aunt is really, really sick. So sad. All the complaining about the wedding seems silly now. (Even though there is so much to say about my TA... I can get into that at another time.) So thanks ladies for listening. Amanda, so sorry to hear things are so tough right now. I'm sure things will turn around soon. And I think I can speak for most of the ladies here when I say we love to listen and offer words of support/help when we can.

Mexican wines: (we had a ton to try while in Mexico, but unfortunately can't get many here) Try L.A. Cetto Nebbiolo Reserva Privada (if you can find it), or any of the Shiraz's L.A. Cetto produce. A couple of other current favorites: De Bortoli Windy Peak Pinot Noir (Australian or New Zealand). Sandalford Shiraz (Austraila) Trapiche Malbec (Argentina) Always love to try new ones! Also have to tell you girls, my FI 'kidnapped' me yesterday for a Surprise Day. We both worked an early shift and then we got into the car and drove for about 2 hours! Well we checked into a lovely hotel, and went out for a great dinner. And then he lead me to a concert...to my surprise it was...Sting! (And I love Sting!) We sat in the 11th row, as Sting performed with the London Philharmonic Orchestra! Hee hee I love Surprise Day! mmmmm I love Trapiche Malbec too!! mmmmm wine. Too bad it's only 10am here in Vancouver. As for Suprise day, that is sooo wonderfully romantic! What a guy! Quote: Originally Posted by thefuturemrslutz mmmmmm LOVE a Malbec and Tempranillo! That sounds like SO much fun after the wedding!!!!!! YAY! So glad to know that I'm not the only wine-o in the bunch here. I've told FI that we're going to have to cut back when we get closer to the wedding too. hahahah speaking of - - - you are soooo close!! YAY Just reading you say "after the wedding' makes me realize that that is so soon for you too! (Exciting)

I have attached the picture here... the tag says "Instead of tapping on your glass, here is a system with Mexican Class. Stand and shake with all your might to see the groom kiss his bride tonight." I copied it from one of the brides here. I thought it was super cute. Hey, I'm totally planning to "borrow" that idea too - just saw the thread the other day. Originally, I had suggested that if people wanted us to kiss they should stand up, do a shot of tequila and shout "TEQUILA" at the top of their lungs. But that got vetoed by FI too - he said that knowing my family and our friends nobody would make it past dinner - and I should remember it's an all inclusive so nobody would be stingy on the shots!! hahaha (hey, wait a minute - that's him getting to make the decisions AGAIN?! What's THAT about) j/k.

I am going to be busy reading the older posts tomorrow at work, hope it is not too busy lol, lots to read. also don't know what reception dinner options we have. I would have written back to all of you who were kind enough to welcome me, but I'm not down with multi-quoting yet! Also my ticker is so small! Haha, oh well at least i figured out how to do it. Thanks for listening to me vent! Congrats! Getting the date nailed down was such a relief for me. Now the fun can begin for you as you start the planning. YAY!!

I tried to keep the message generic so our guests might consider using post-wedding. They're stainless steel on the inside too. Best of all, no brokerage charges at the door! I was dreading it, since most other Canadian brides had to pay brokerages. Yah yah! The last Canadian bride who posted hers didn't have to pay either, let's cross our fingers for all future Canadian desties!! So glad to hear that, as I'm thinking of using them too. Did you find they were the best price even with shipping them up here to Vancouver? Did you do much comparison with more local retailers? They look fab by the way
  25. Nicole and AmyKH thanks for that info on the pools/swim up rooms. Glad to hear that. The more I think about it the more I am totally convinced on the swim up room... will have to tell my TA that!
