  1. Thanks for the love Nia, lol. I can't wait to try it at the tasting.
  2. I think I'm going to buy some hair from Demure Tresses for the big day. They seem nice and the reviews are good. Just have to muster up the cash!
  3. Does anyone recognize this hotel? All I know is it's in PV... http://www.youtube.com/user/HugoLopezChannel#p/u/1/tZ2dekUeYIw
  4. Here is a link to a wedding that took place at Nuevo Vallarta's Grand Velas (they're hard to come by): http://www.movingimagesproductions.com/Album2/index.html. Also, their FB page has some examples as well as a Flickr Account found here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/8209088@N07/sets/72157625158874510/ Another Flickr profile has a few shots of GVV NV: http://www.flickr.com/photos/patrickluciosoares/with/5435002606/
  5. We're staying apart. We don't live together, so it's not a big deal to be separated.
  6. Mine will be a play off of the objectsplendor photo. but in turquoise. I'm using natural touch peonies in the same white color (as they're cheaper) and turquoise sea fans and turquoise votives. I'll be using about 5 turquoise orchids throughout the peonies and nautilus shell vases.
  7. I'm trying on my dress for the first time tomorrow since buying it back in November. I can't wait to try it on! Hopefully will have some pics up tomorrow.
  8. Thanks so much ladies. Have fun creating yours! And time is winding down. Oh my gosh!
  9. This is so my struggle right now. I started planning since Sept. 2010 and asked for RSVPs by January. I had to call folks, and people keep middling and maybe-ing even still. My wedding is in June, and I seriously don't know if we're going to crack 20. It's frustrating, because we have to fill our room blocks or lose our money. Even with reasonable dates, people will still play around, so just midly to intensely harass and stalk until you get a good idea of numbers.
  10. Thanks for the love! Definitely in my hometown. My mom suggested a local venue that's got a nice ambiance. Wherever it is, we would need some audiovisual hook-ups for the pics and video. I wanted it more of a down-home party but my sis and I are doing it together, so we may be able to swing a catering venue. Won't have to decide for awhile.
  11. We'd like to wait a year and get used to the new roles and establish a routine, make sure he finishes school, and we both have relatively stable jobs. Life happens while you're making other plans though, so we're open to whatever. God knows what's best and what we can handle v. what we can't. I'd love the idea of a year's hiatus before we get the ball rolling, lol.
  12. That's what I've told Nia: You guys have plenty of time, but I do understand the need to at least lock the venue down. As for me, I am doing a "mocktail" hour and a sit-down 4 course dinner. I have to do a dinner b/c I'm having less than 50 ppl. I customized my menu, so I'm paying a bit more. Food came w/ my package as long as it was what they offered for sit-down dinners. So, to offset that cost, I got something else for "free". I figure, if I'm going to be paying for certain items anyway as part of my package, it's only fair that if I'm not using those items that I replace it with something else I need. That was sort of my approach to negotiating w/ GVV.
  13. I hear you guys on the veil issue. My mom was pressing HARD for one out of guilt. She even said my dad, who's my heart, wanted to see me in one. I'm fighting it w/ every ounce of my being to have one, but if daddy wants one...lol. I do like the idea of a birdcage veil, and that's my likely compromise. I think they're stylish, classy, and still a veil. I'm looking at a tulle birdcage veil to go with the tulle of my dress. My sister says I look like I'm trapped in a mosquito net, and I'm inclined to agree, but it's different than the Russian netting you normally see. I'm also popping it off for the reception so it'll be just about the fascinator later on. And Mr. Tutera is right, as are most moms everywhere: when else do you get to have one? :-D
  14. Aww, thanks for the kind words. It is my absolute pleasure to help B2Bs! GVV NV is such a little known spot, so that when brides are interested, they have no one to turn to b/c the PV forum is mostly Dreams or Las Caletas. I agree with Dellnia, you have to know where you're lines are budget-wise and be realistic about the venue. It's a 5-star spot, so they charge accordingly. Most of us want to do Mexico b/c it's cheaper, but you could end up spending the same as if in the U.S. if you're not careful. If you want a huge wedding, then GVV will be expensive. If you're ok with the nearest and dearest, then it's definitely achievable. Just have to know what you want and keep working with them. I implore you all to try and talk to Karla Aguillon-Monge. She is the absolute best! Professional and uber-sweet.
  15. I know this blog is like the Mecca of wedding planning, but I only glance once in awhile. I never drew much from it and kept that to myself. Frankly, if I never see another jar of jam and antique whatcha-ma-call-its in the middle of a meadow, I'll be fine. Plus, they rarely look like weddings to me anymore and feel a little "Children's Place" in their vibe. However, as I googled for "How SMP chooses weddings?", I came across some backlash to the blog that intrigued me. Many brides are complaining that while lovely, the featured weddings are unrealistic and put way too much pressure on B2Bs. Not all of us are DIY-ers or have to time make a photo-perfect wedding. Some brides are getting married in halls where decorating a place is a minimal effort on their part. ::in my best Carrie Bradshaw impersonation:: "I couldn't help but wonder... are any other brides tired of this trend and what are your thoughts on it?"
  16. That is gorgeous! A beautiful dress indeed. Oh, the pictures are going to be fantastic. Who's the designer? I have to say, your dress is a dress I've never seen before. I like it b/c it's different from all the dresses I've seen on here. It's a standout showpiece. Great pick!
  17. I tried to add a vendor to the Wedding Vendors Photographer section, but was told my permission was denied and this was the ID# 1297693400.8172. If I can't do it, can one of the administrators? Thank you.
  18. Thanks so much ladies. It was a lot of fun! Almost wish I could do it for a living, lol.
  19. Our wedding wedsite is found here: kosha.projectwedding.com; Password: mexigo. I had a lot of fun creating it and I'm just getting myself excited for the big day. Please visit and make comments. Thanks ladies!
  20. To all Grand Velas properties brides, the company now has a website and they're offering a $10,000 wedding for free in a contest here: http://www.velasweddings.com/ Give it a try if you haven't signed a contract yet! They alsohave a Facebook page to get us all drooling: http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/velasweddings
  21. I actually bought my Pronovias dress back in September from Bridal Garden in Marlton, NJ. My dress is the Gaudi, similar in style to yours. It came in last week, but I'm not heading in until I have all my accessories (i.e. shoes and belt) delivered to my house. I can't wait to try it on and post pics! I'm glad you had a great time at the Flagship store. It must be awesome!
  22. For the boys: round of golf. For the girls: spa and treats courtesy of our hotel. Maybe you could visit an art gallery or do a community service project. I know some contacts if you're interested.
  23. Dellnia: Welcome and congratulations! I'm available to any B2Bs looking for advice on GVV Nuevo Vallarta/Riviera Nayarit. You know how to reach me. I've got tons of info. I don't have any info on the other Velas resorts, so I couldn't say. If you do a quick search on Casa Velas, Velas Vallarta, or GVV Riviera Maya, you're bound to come across someone else who married at those resorts. Casa Velas has gotten great reviews. I would encourage all the brides to check photographer websites and blogs to see the location they're interested in at an actual wedding (not a promotional shot). That helps alot!
