He then told me they could go out of Puerto Morelos but that if the water is too rough they would have to cancel (too much of a risk for me). I just wanted to let you know about another company I found in Cancun. It is Marina Cancun and the sunset sail is $275 an hour for 3 hours. This INCLUDES open bar. They can also provide transportation for $350. My quote is based on 40 people, but they were by far the best price! YAY- thank you! Very helpful :-)

I know she is busy. But is this all I need to have done and then pick everything else out two days before the wedding? Sounds stressful. Is this the right email for her [email protected]? Poor sight {{{HUGS}}} - yes that is the same email addy that I have. I can't even imagine. Our wedding is still a year off so I guess I just roll with the punches. I can definitely see why you'd be concerned though. From everything I hear - everything you said is pretty much dead on and although it does sound stressful, since the wedding are pretty much "pre-packaged" - it really does only take a sit-down for an hour or two to confirm your stuff and they make it happen. I guess for us its one day but for them its their everyday. Hopefully she gets back to you soon though. Try not to worry. I have my date confirmed, NO time and am still waiting for a wedding contract that I queried easily over a month ago now :-s
  3. Checkout the Blue Parrot, amazing! If I had my pick of areas 100% would say Playa Del Carmen over Cancun but that is me. Good luck and let me know if I can help... I second that. The fire dancers at the Blue Parrot are wicked!! We got there early and literally were feet from the performance. We also hit up Coco Bongo's on the same night out and Liverpool Dpt Store for shopping. All terrific!

  5. Hi and congrats - We stayed at the Royal PDC last April and it is a phenomenal resort. I honestly can't say enough about the food, staff, rooms and how immaculate they keep the resort. It is literally 2 seconds from 5th ave. which is where all the shops and clubs are and is strongly backed on tripadvisor.com. le blanc was one of the resorts that we were looking at too but needed someplace that was child-friendly so unfortunately it wasn't a go for us. the wedding packages look stunning and it is ranked #1 for cancun resorts on tripadvisor. Not sure about the other one but I'm sure with such strong contenders- you really can't go wrong. Happy planning :-)
  6. PS -Lisa I just noticed that you're getting married at the Royal Playa Del Carmen. We were there last April for a week - PHENOMENAL resort! Your wedding will be beautiful!

Ahhhh a little tiramisu would be lovely right about now. Instead I guess I'll go do Core Synergistics :-s On the up side I weighed myself yesterday and I was down to 139 so I guess my grease-binge on Friday night didn't kill all my progress :-)
  8. Ok I have officially completed Day 8, no longer feel like I've been hit by a bus and am into my 2nd week YAY :-) LOL Diet is something I'm going to have to work on. I was good all week but tonight nibbled on everything from garlic fingers, to fish (deep fried :-s) to zucchini fingers when we got take out with the kiddies. In other words pure grease. I suppose it makes no sense to do these hellish workouts to eat junk afterwards :-s

  10. Does anyone know where you can get info on the fire dancers? we saw them last year at the blue parrot and thought they would be awesome for end of the reception on the beach. thanks :-)
  11. Uggh thank goodness today is stretching. My body still feels like I got hit by a bus LOL I had to struggle to do Kenpo last night. Friday killed me with back & legs :-s
  12. "just felt really nervous about sending a fax with my info on it and not knowing exactly where it was going to end up and who might see it." EXACTLY! If she is that inundated, I don't want my credit card info just sitting in an 'inbox' pile of paperwork. The weddings go off smoothly in the end but I still think that it is ridiculous that this poor woman doesn't have an assistant to handle the administrative side of things, even if were someone who simply answered emails and returned calls etc. For a 5 star resort, I would have to say that there is a definite lack of professionalism as far as correspondence between brides and Ana, which isn't even her fault. One person simply cannot be expected to handle so many clients at once :-s
  13. K this thread inspired me to get with the program. Broke my neck back in September so 6 months later here I am. Did the Back & Legs today plus the AbRipper X uuughhh. Hurts so good LOL Currently at 145. Trying to get to 135. :-) Thank goodness for this support group - I suck at staying motivated.
  14. I also had this experience. She did, however, email me a document so I could fax my deposit. I did so about a week and a half ago and am waiting for funds to be withdrawn. No contract yet... Like I said in a pp. THANK GOODNESS for this site b/c otherwise I would seriously be like wth lol Seeing the beautiful weddings from recent brides as well as realizing that everyone is pretty much going thru the same thing has seriously calmed me down period. Weddings are their business and they seem to pull them off fairly flawlessly so I'm officially chilling out LOL I have the emails with her confirming my day and time in case of any mishaps on her part - if you don't want to take my money right away ... I'm not going to fight you LOL
  15. Yeah any direct flight beats a connection. We went down last year end of April to May and got direct both ways. My TA hasn't confirmed what day yet but she did say that there should be a direct flight from Hali to Cancun 2x a week. I'm pretty sure she said there's been one on Fridays for the last 2 years but I'm hoping for the other one to be a Monday or Tuesday flight since we have to be there 4 bus. days before for the legal/civil cermonies :-s Worst case scenario, we may have to fly down indirect and fly back direct with the rest of the wedding party/guests.
  16. Oh sorry - the actual question LOL Yes we will be flying direct from Hali to Cancun :-)

No our TA is thru Maritime Travel. She is waiting for the 2011 rates to be posted and will then take our numbers and come back with a group rate :-) Its still over a year away but its exciting now that the resort has confirmed our date :-) I haven't been to Jamaica yet but that should be awesome!! We fell in love with Mexico last year when we were down. Happy planning :-)
  18. Halifax here too :-) We're heading to DRC Mexico next May. LOVE this site :-)

I know in the end it will all work out it is just hard to stay positive when everything feels like it is not working. I wish I was in Mexico swinging at the bar drinking a very strong drink. lol It'll be fine - maybe you shouldn't wait for the Mexican swing bar for that stiff drink though LOL

I'm still waiting for her to send me the contract and take payment. She emailed me confirming my date and time, letting me know the security deposit. I emailed her back asking should I just send my VISA in the email, call, wait for a wedding contract to fill it in and fax it back and .... nothing. That was 3 weeks ago. I just hope my verbally confirmed date and her not asking for my payment yet doesn't effect one another. I think I'm going to call Mexico again today I guess :-s
  21. All I can say is THANK GOODNESS for you ladies, this site and this thread. I'm usually more of a lurker than a poster but I can't tell you how much useful information that I have been able to decipher from your posts. If it weren't for this site and all the "Ana-info" that I have been able to read up on I think I would have lost my mind long ago. Anyway just thought I would come out of the the shadows and say Thanks and Happy Friday :-) Cheers, Melissa

Anyone else going to be down there around Oct 24?? I know I have asked this before- but what are you guys doing for your rehearsal dinners? We should be down that week to do our site visit :-) Maybe I'll get to sneak a peek of you.

We had our own photographers too, but I really loved the pictures the resort photgraphers took. The videographer was great too! I didn't even think I cared about a video, but they did such an amazing job and I cherish it. One more important thing I must mention. Ana was the best! She works very hard and she went above and beyond to make it the most special day. More on that later. But remember, with a destination wedding, you may not be able to finalize a lot of details until you get there. But once you are there, she will sit with you and take care of it. Ana was terrific! Enjoy the slideshow... Ari & Carina WOW - you looked beautiful! Thanks for sharing the slideshow as well as the details on how it all came together so quickly in your sit-down meeting. Its so helpful to see that despite some of the frustration with correspondence, obviously, they know what they're doing and pull it off lovely in the end. Cheers, Melissa
