  1. Just wanted to post my experience thus far with the Barcelo Maya wedding coordinators, for anyone that may be considering Barcelo Maya for their wedding resort:  * Communication thus far it's been A+. I sent out my initial "wedding date request" email and had a response in 5 business days. I then sent my booking manifest and received my confirmation of wedding date and time within 2 days!!!!! * I have Victoria and she seems very much on the ball, her English is perfect and has even sent me a guest list excel sheet for me to fill out so she can try and book our rooms together/handle any special requests.  I hope that everyone else is happy with their experience thus far, and just wanted to share mine  5 months 2 weeks and we'll be there!!! yipeeee Â
  2. You will find ALL the info about Barcelo Maya here. http://www.unofficial-barcelo-maya.com/forum/index.php There is a "neverending wedding photo thread" that has all pics of various sections/weddings on the resort! Good luck, and it's a great choice! Â
  3. Well, Ivan will be doing our's Feb 25th and nmurch's wedding in late January at Barcelo...he'll know all the "hot spots" of the resort by then! My experience thus far with him have been excellent, very prompt with replies, and he genuinely seems excited to do the job! We added on the engagement session and he suggested going into Playa del Carmen and the beach there...I think this will be a great prelude to the wedding day! Good luck with everything. Keep us updated on how it works out.
  4. For us, we will just receive the DVD with all photos he took, which will be edited/enhanced etc..These will be full resolution jpeg images and we will need to print the ones we like on our own. He will also host our on his online web gallery with the top 80 pics. For 8 hrs it's $2000US, and we added an engagement session in Playa del Carmen for $550! I can't open you attachment for the pricing info for the new Barcelo photographers, but i remember reading that they were close to $1800 depending on the package etc you chose. Something to think about...hope this helps Â
  5. Hey Ladies! I'm also getting married at Barcelo (but at the Tropical) Feb 25th, 2011. I was nervous about booking an outside photographer because of their ever changing policies they seem to have but went for it anyway! Booked Ivan Luckie and have had great communication with his thus far. Photocaribe was amateur at best. I've been following the unnofficialbarcelomaya website on this very topic and was curious about the new photog's portfolio as well...seems like "more of the same", all be it a bit better, but for their prices you could hire an outsider and do a TTD or engagement session for just a bit more! What does everyone else think of their portfolio thus far??

  13. Hello! I'm getting married at the SAME spot the week before (February 25th, 2011)!!! Have you checked out the unnofficialbarcelomaya website. It has all the specifics about the resort, but this website has more overall information. Good Luck and Congrats!
  14. Hello and Welcome! I'm in this very process right now. Truth be told...I went to 4-5 travel agents (feel a bit guilty about that...) gave them 2-3 resorts I was looking into and waited for the prices to come in. It's funny because they all claim that they will get the same deals available to them that another TA would...but I can tell you some deals are better than others. I guess it's all in how much they are willing to take off their commission to get the business. When booking for groups, they will submit a request to the supplier. Here in Canada it's Air Canada, Transat Vacations, Sunquest, Nolitours, and West Jet Vacations. So far we've been getting the best prices from Sunquest and Air Canada. Depending on the resort, they will also do a "every 16th passenger goes FREE". Some are even 1 in 8, but most closer to 20. Most couples use that to go free, or, as we are doing, spreading the savings over all the guests! I say, play the odds. iTravel2000 and SelloffVacations.com have a feature right on their website that you can fill out for groups and they will get back to you within 24hrs with your quotes! I ultimately chose the TA that I felt went to bat for us the hardest. She used a lower quote I received from another tour operator to negotiate a better rate with Air Canada since their departure times were much better...it played off!! We going to Barcelo Maya Tropical for just under $1700 tax included, and we'll save even a bit more once everyone starts booking and the 16th person goes free! Hope this helps, Krista

  19. I thought I was stressed out before this, but now after reading how far ahead of me you all are...ughhhhh! haha So far I've: Bought my dress and my BM's have theirs as well Finalized on a resort- Barcelo Maya Tropical and booked a wedding date/package there- February 25th, 2011 I'm going tomorrow to pick out invites and already have a T/A looking for deals for the resort. Looks like $1700 all in...not bad! Good Luck everyone! Great to meet all the February 2011 brides
  20. Hi! Congratulations and welcome to the forum. Good luck in your planning I'm going to Barcelo Maya Tropical after much research. The Palace is gorgeous. They offer free weddings too if you want something simple!
  21. Hi! Congratulations and welcome to the forum. Good luck in your planning
  22. Couldn't agree more! This stuff is the best. I have some sun spots and this covers it completely. The HD powder sets everything in and I don't have to worry about my makeup fading for at least 6-7 hrs!
  23. Sorry if this seems like a really dumb question but what does the tour operator (Transat etc...) have to do with your wedding package? I'm going to Barcelo Maya Tropical (or Colonial if I end up booking with Transat) and have already chosen my wedding package and placed my wedding day "on hold" with the resort. Wedding week: Feb 20, 2011 and wedding package: Strawberry Passion. Am I missing out on something? Thanks for any info!!!!!!!
