  1. Thanks all! I actually have done tons of Tripadvisor research already, so I'm not flying blind. I just got back from a trip not too long ago to the Palladium Kantenah--and I loved it--but won't be choosing it because a)The weddings seem really expensive (esp. for ours which will probably be really small) and b)I like to try new places. The first place on my shortlist WAS Grand Riviera Princess--but certain reports on TA made me nix it. If I was only choosing a resort for myself I would still go--but I can't be sure that my guests will take the extra precautions that I would take-- Still on my short list is Barcelo Maya Palace--the only thing that gives me pause is some reports of poor service, but I'm not really all that fussy--and a couple of people in my party get bad vibes due to a serious crime that happened there at the Barcelo Complex a few years ago. Also, the Sensatori Azul--looks really fabulous, but the bad beach may be the dealbreaker. Same goes for the Moon Palace. Also looking at Now Jade--and the Dreams resorts. I guess one good thing about having so many places that I'm taking into consideration is that if one place doesn't pan out, I still have lots of options! This forum is very helpful. Thank you all.
  2. What with all the stern warnings and what not I'm giving this marriage thing another whirl (don't ask) next year in the Riviera Maya. Og knows at which resort--I've only narrowed it down to---who am I kidding--I haven't narrowed it down at all! I'm dragging my best friend down there too and forcing him to finally marry his fiancee of seven years. So it'll be a double header so to speak--(we're from Montreal, we do things a little backwards here!) Anyways, nice to meetcha!
  3. How's the planning going? I'm doing this with my best friend next year (our families are close as well). It really was the only way to be able to afford to attend each other's weddings. They've been engaged for 7 years, have two kids(!) and this is my second (and last) go round. Very simple, very laid back--probably just going to take a free package somewhere--maybe we're just too old to really give a crap about "the spotlight" anymore... Anyways, glad to see I'm not the first person to consider this.
