I just thought about this and since I don't have my contract on me I wanted to ask you ladies. Is it open bar at the reception? Don't know why I didn't ask before but maybe because its friday and I'm going to happy hour it just came to mind!!

Hi ChicagoBride2011 What is your opinion of the weddings on the beach? I see you said that there can be up to 3 weddings at 1 time. I'm having about 50 guests at the wedding and am wondering if there is another wedding going on if it would be close to ours. Any chance you took pictures of the beach areas? As of now we are have the wedding and reception on the beach because my FI really wants the beach wedding and the beach reception. I'm not 100% in love with everything being on the beach. My WC told me that the 2 things will be on 2 different parts of the beach. In your opinion what was your fav location on the site? Thanks!!

As for the tables we are doing places we've traveled instead of table numbers. We figured it would make it more personal. For the photog we are using Victor Herrrera. He has been really quick with his responses and is really reasonably priced. If you go for one of his assistants it's even cheaper! Most importantly we liked the type of photos he takes. Since we are on a tight budget (trying to buy a place too) he told us we can add an adddtional hours up to 5 days in advance which is great so we can see what our money situation is once we are about to fly over.

Is anyone that is working a travel agent to book everyone's trip getting any comps? My agent said that if we have 30 rooms booked for the same dates our room will be comped for the same days. Unfortunately right now we are looking only 23 rooms booked. I just feel like we are giving both the the travel agent and Royal a lot of business not to get anything comp'ed or discounts.

If you can share wheer you are gettign the towels from that would be great! I originally wanted to do towels but I wasn't finding any in my price range.

LadyDi I have Julie too; how did you tell her you booked DJ Ivan already? I haven't spoken to her about the DJ yet. I would prefer to book him directly because he told me he would include the cold fireworks for $850 and on the price list Julie sent me it says $850 just for the DJ.

So I asked Julie about changing the flowers and she said that they can't change the type of flower in the bouquet, they can only change the color of the flower! Now I'm not sure if I should just upgrade or deal with the styles included

I have Julie as my WC and she told me that the if I change the cake they will not give me the credit so like you ladies said most of our guest will be full by the time the cake and other dessert comes so we will take the free cake. I also emailed her about the altrenating the roses just so that I have it in writing =) I emailed DJ Ivan and he quoted my $850 for 3 hours including the cold fire works. Does anyone know if I book thru Royal do they include the fireworks in thier charge or am I going to have to pay extra for it

Thanks! I guess I'm going to have to stick to the free cake too and maybe just add real flowers ) Good to hear that we can change the roses! There are just sooo many extra costs that I didn't realize in the begining that now I have to see which ones I really want.

I have the classic wedding package and was wondering if I upgraded to a couture cake do I have to pay only the difference or the full amount? Has anyone asked about this yet?

Whats everyone doing for the music for the private reception? I'm not sure if to go with the dj the hotel offers or if I should put some play lists together and do the music ourselves. I'm worried if I don't get the dj I'm going to be constantly worried if the music is good and who will announce the first dance etc.

I just booked Victor for my wedding on Nov 27th. His work looks amazing! I had some issues with my contract as well but Adrian which was who I was emailing with was very responsive. I was wondering how many hours are you all booking them for and what do you plan to do about video if anything?

After soo much researh we have finally decided on the Royal in Playa Del Carmen. Getting married 11/27/10! We are looking for a few vendors like a cigar roller, private yacht for the the "rehersal dinner" and photo/video. Wish me luck!!
