  1. Welcome Kelly! Congrats on your engagement. Wow- Cancun in two weeks- you must be very excited. Don't worry about the details, they'll all come together once you start your planning. For me it really came into focus once we'd picked our location and it sounds like you have some ideas for that already. Good luck and happy planning.

It's just insane! We were really close last time- within a kg or two- and I was so stressed when they put my suitcase on the scale! I had a ton of books though so that didn't help. I just got an ereader for Christmas, so I'll load up a bunch of books on that and that should help for this trip.

I am wondering if it's even worth going that route Thanks!!! I couldn't find the link lol.. I have a little bit of problem maybe.. as I bought my package with TMR and the plan is Air Transit.. so it'll probably be different then actually buying my package with air transit. Hmmm... check with your travel agent or Transat- I think as long as it's a transat wedding you should still qualify for it even if you booked with them through a third party, but I could be wrong about that.

I've added the link here because I don't know if you have enough posts to open it up. If you have any trouble with it shoot me a PM with your email address and I'll send it to you that way. For your browsing pleasure: Weddings Away ETA: no problem about the VS tip, and yes I totally agree about shipping/ duty. It's such a hassle.
  5. I wouldn't worry too much about negative reviews, either. Honestly you could make yourself crazy that way lol. I try to take all reviews, good and bad, with a grain of salt. Some people will have a crappy time no matter where they are, some folks like everything. If I'm on a site like trip advisor I focus more on the percentage of positive to negative reviews. Even the most highly reviewed places will have some bad reviews.
  6. Welcome to the forum. Here's hoping for smooth planing for you!
  7. I've been off and on with the work outs, myself. Doing better now that Christmas is over. I've been eating really well since Christmas, though. I started writing down everything that I eat and it's a pain in the butt but it's been helping me focus on eating well. My calorie amount per day is usually pretty good but I could be eating better food. So far I've increased the fruits and veggies and whole grains. My job actually gave all full time employee's gym memberships for a Christmas bonus type thing this year! I've been working out at home but I may have to head down the the gym and check it out soon for a change of pace.
  8. If you check transat's website they have an online brochure for destination weddings with them. It will list all of the perks that you get for booking the wedding through them. If you're using a travel agent, just check with your travel agent and make sure that you're identified as the wedding couple. If not I would just call transat and make sure that you're eligible and if so that you get everything you're entitled to. Let me know if you have any trouble finding the info and I'll email you the brochure- I downloaded the PDF so I have it handy.
  9. Welcome to the forum! There's a whole thread for us April brides under General wedding information- feel free to jump in and join the party there. Happy planning!
  10. Welcome, Lindsay! I don't know about everyone else, but I found that having a travel agent was really helpful when it came to picking a location. There is so much out there and trying to research all of the different options was more work that I'd thought it would be. If you're going that route I'd make a list of what you're looking for in a location and pass that on to your TA- then they'll make some suggestions to narrow things down for you and you can go from there. Good luck and happy planning!
  11. Congrats, Ashley, and welcome! I hope you have fun with your planning- keep us updated on how it goes.

Welcome! It's nice to see a mother of the bride on here. I guess my first bit of advice is take a look around the forum for reviews and planning posts from brides who've gotten married at the same place that your daughter has chosen to get some ideas. I hope your daughter has a lovely wedding!
  13. Congrats! Welcome to the forum. I'm sure you'll find lots of great DIY ideas here, there are a lot of very creative brides on this forum. Happy planning!
  14. Wow- sounds very romantic! I don't have any tips about Hawaii for you but good luck pulling it all together.

I don't think I can be since the resort is full for April and the time they offered me was 5:15. I think there must be someone in the 3 PM spot, at least, but I haven't found them online yet! Anyone else for April 28th at Melia Las Dunas? Come out come out wherever you are!

Who are you travelling with, Tracy? Some companies have extra perks for the wedding couple- with Air Transat we're getting extra weight with our baggage allowance for no charge. Maybe check and see if your airline does anything similar. I think I may start some early packing this week. Nothing final, but I could toss some of my summer clothes and bathing suits in a suitcase now and then they'll be put aside and ready to go. It's so friggin cold up here that I won't be needing any of it before April, anyway. Might give me a better idea about what I need and don't need to buy, too. Luckily we went to Punta Cana last February so I can take a lot of the stuff that I bought last year. I think I need some more sundresses, though.

FI and I both get five "special days" on top of our regular vacation time because of the wedding so we've got a nice chunk of time off. I seriously can not wait for the break. Oh- FYI ladies, Victoria's Secret has some bathing suits on sale right now super cheap! I just ordered a few and it was a pretty sweet deal. I've gotten swim stuff from there before and liked it so fingers crossed these suits are nice.
