  1. Hi ladies, Â I'm not sure if there is an existing thread on this topic...but I wasn't able to find it...so... Â I'm just wondering if anyone had any feedback on which buffet menus are good, and which ones to stay away from? I just received an e-mail from my WC with 14 buffet menu choices!!! Its soooo hard to choose...please help!
  2. Â OMG...I hope all of you and your guests' flights will not be affected by this!
  3. What is the name of your WC...just so the rest of us know who we DO NOT want! Â I'm sorry to hear about your experience so far. I think it would be very reasonable of you to request a new WC...are they giving you problems?
  4. I'm happy to report that our WC coordinator has been assigned to us and has already contacted us! This is a pleasant surprise because our date is March 12, 2011...and I was originally told that we wouldn't get an assigned WC until 3 months prior to that date.
  5. Scorpio30 - any luck with changing your reception location? Keep us posted on what happens and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!
  6. has anyone secured a DJ? Just wondering how much the cost was? Also if my friend is a DJ and is willing to play my wedding as a gift...does anyone know if they will supply equipment or does he have to bring his own?
  7. It really upsets me that people would say such things about such an awesome place! Cancun is where my FI and I first met, and where we will be married next year...and I couldn't care less about what anyone has to say about that! All the ladies that commented previously are right...people will always find something to say about everything...so trust the choice that you made and just enjoy!
  8. Yes they are given automatically. If you would like to apply it towards a wedding collection, you must specify that before having your contract drawn up. Just inform your contact in Miami! And as far as I know, you do still get them if you chose the complimentary package, but you CANNOT use them towards optional services. You must either use it towards a collection or the other things listed; spa, golf, room upgrade, tours, wine, private dinner. I know this because I originally wanted to go the complimentary package route and use the vacation dollars towards optional services, but was told that I could not. So I ended up choosing a package and applying it to that price instead. For me, this was the best way to go financially.
  9. My FI and I are interested in having a cigar rolling station and a tequila tasting station at our reception! Anyone know a company that can provide these services and any info on the matter?
  10. I am still 8 months away so I have not been assigned a WC yet. I'm sorry to hear about your dilema, I was also afraid of this because I know there are at least 2 other weddings taking place on the same day as mine. Have you expressed to your WC that you are unhappy with the gazebo and your reception location choices? I'm pretty sure they can change the gazebo because I am under the impression that they only do one wedding ceremony per time slot.
  11. Does anyone have an e-mail address for Deco Cancun? I have been on the website but cannot find a contact for them.
  12. Hey Lauren, I also debated between the complimentary and a collection package. In the end, I ended up going with the amethyst rose collection because it actually worked out to be cheaper than if I did the complimentary and paid for optional services because I applied my 1500 vacation dollars to my package. Originally the package would have cost $2375...but after the $1500, it went down to $875! In regards to choices, I'm pretty sure they have a standard bouquet and cake for each collection, so you may end up paying more if you want something customized. And lastly, I have seen pics of the amber package set up in a magazine...and the main colors are orange and brown. The color scheme is very pretty (has a fall feel), but it is quite orange. I don't think it will go well with your coral theme. I hope this helps!
  13. Are there cabs readily available at the airport for those who do not book their transfer ahead of time?
  14. Ladies booking under a Palace Resort membership: Have you ladies gotten any rates yet? I keep asking my contact in Miami for exact figures or quotes, and she has yet to get back to me. I just wanted to see if anyone else had gotten any solid rates.
  15. Leigh17: Thanks again for your advice! I contacted my uncle, who contacted the resort, and you were absolutely right!!! Members get such great benefits and this will bring down our costs considerably! You have no idea how excited I am right now, because now I have room in my budget for things that I couldn't afford before! I hope your planning and preparation is wrapping up nicely and I wish you all the best on your big day!!!

  17. ok so I got an email today from Janina (Miami office) in regards to rates...and I must admitt I'm a little scared. She has quoted me $3400 per couple for a superior room (7 night stay). This price does not include airfare...so figure tack on another $800 for airfare. Does anyone else think this is kind of steep? I mean I don't mind paying that, but I'm pretty sure my guests will! I'm just wondering if anyone else has gotten any rates so far?
  18. Thank you soooo much Alison!!! That was super helpful. I think I will definately ask for the deposit to be refunded onto my debit card!
  19. Hi ladies...I'm also a lover of heels (esp since i'm only 5'1). I'm also getting married on the beach, but I plan to wear my heels! I was worried about sinking or tripping so I posed this question to the other brides in another thread and was informed that the aisle runner used at our resort is very sturdy and can def hold you up if you decide to wear heels. So anyone having a beach ceremony in any of the Palace resorts...you can rest easy if you are debating wearing heels
  20. Hi everyone! Last week I bought my dress!!! You won't believe it, but I actually found it in Macy's!!! I was just browsing (for vacation clothes) when I came across a beautiful white, one shoulder, mermaid style dress. I made a joke to my FI's mother that I should try this on and use it as my wedding dress! Well sure enough, it fit me like a glove! It was also super cheap ($75 marked down from $250) and they have a 6 month return policy...so with nothing to lose, I bought it! It is a beautiful dress...but the only thing I would like to change about it is the bottom. Like I said, it is mermaid style...so really fitted in the bodice and starts to flare out right under my knees. But I don't find the flare big enough because there is nothing underneath to puff it out more. I was thinking of buying some crinoline and attaching it underneath to give it some more umph! Has anyone ever done this that can help me out? And does anyone know where to purchase crinoline? Thanks in advance for your help!

My FI feels it's too much to ask since people that are coming are paying so much to come with us. I was on the fence but the more ppl I've talked to think I should still do it. I want to make it very low key and not broadcast it everywhere b/c I don't want ppl to feel obligated to get us gifts/money. The only other thing I'm concerned with, is where to register? We have been living together for 3 yrs now and it does not really seem worth while to register somewhere like a big department store (as we have most things we need). Our honeymoon is included in our price for our trip as we're just staying at the resort for a 2nd week. So any suggestions on a registry? As for the shower, I'm leaving that one up to my BM's and my mom. I won't be disapointed if it doesn't happen but I'm thinking they will probably do it anyway. Cheers, I'm in the same boat as you! My husband and I have actually been married and living together for a year (we eloped)...but only our parents know! Our symbolic ceremony will be next year and we really don't need much. So I've been comtemplating going the 'wishing well' route. One of the other brides mentioned something similar earlier. Its basically a polite way of just requesting cash. check out this website Gift Registry Online Gifts Registries Wedding Bridal Cash Money List - OurWishingWell.com
  22. My TA had suggested this place for our honeymoon seeing as we had already chosen a place for the wedding! But she said that this resort is by far one of the best in Mexico right now! And judging from the picks above, I would say any bride would be lucky to be married here!
  23. Morning ladies! So after reading that many of you have opted for the complimentary package and have added little things here and there, it has led me to re-think my decision to go with the amethyst rose package. Originally I thought having a package would make things easier and cheaper, but after doing a few calculations...I think that I may actually end up saving close to $1000 if I go the a la carte route. Anyways, my question is...if I chose the complimentary package, are there any stipulations? For example, do we (FI and I) have to pay for our 7 nights stay? And what if we book 25+ rooms/75+ room nights...we should be entitled to our stay for free right? But does that still count if we opt for the complimentary package? I have emailed the WC in Miami about this, but she has yet to answer me. Any info on this would be very much appreciated! Thanks!!!
