  1. Don't let others ruin your parade!!!! If they can't come - they can't come. You say to them you would love if they could come, but you understand not everyone can afford to do so. That you are inviting your closest family and friends and wish they could experience your wedding at the same time have a mini-vacation themselves. There will be lots of fun, drinking, partying and dancing, but if they simply cannot come, you will send them to your website so they can view your wedding video. That is all you can do. This is your wedding and even though some or even most cannot make it - their lack of attendance will not ruin your dream wedding! Wish I could be more supportive, but only having planned and in the process of planning our wedding now for only two months, I am also starting to hear the excuses, reasons, financial troubles. If you can continue to focus on what you and FI want and get totally immersed in your wedding details, the other will not matter. JMO. BT
  2. When my sister got married in Jamaica 3 years ago, the air and hotel was booked at the same time. Air went up and down for months. The price of the resort dropped once. My sister contacted her TA and told her about the price decrease on the hotel - although it wasn't much at all $10.00 per person, her TA went back and renegotiated that price for her. There is nothing that can be done about the air as it was a scheduled carrier - American airlines. They had a penalty to cancel or change the air to the most current lowest price. Many people get upset with their travel agents and it really is out of their hands to do anything about the air. At least my sister's travel agent explained that to her in the beginning. Also, my sister was the one who found that the resort had put on a sale and she called her TA. Her TA did not know the sale was taking place, but was very willing to contact the resort about the lower pricing. Also we have not been looking that long since I singed up with Best Destination Weddings, but the two resorts we have in mind within 2 months already had a price decrease and one had a price increase! lol. We are still entertaining the idea of the one with the price increase - still watching the rates on their website. As my sister said, hotels change prices frequently. You would have to monitor their websites 24 hours a day to know when a sale goes on. Just my 2 cents! BT
  3. I think they have a picture of the lanterns on their website. My sis had no problems putting up a deposit - they are well respected in Jamaica as vendors. I doubt if we still have the catalog from then from 3 years ago, and if we did, I am sure it has been updated many times. You can e-mail them to have them send a catalog if you do not have it. My sis got married at another resort - not ROR and I think you might mean Riu in Ocho Rios?? BTurner
  4. I would say to hook up with a travel agent that is familiar with Jamaica and resorts. It will take you forever to weed through all the ones you like and most times a travel agent has been to all of them so they would have first hand knowledge. My siter went through a travel agent 3 years ago. She found her an absolutely beautiful place in Ocho Rios, stayed in contact with her throughout the entire process (even when she turned her over to the wedding coordinator) at the resort, she followed up almost daily to see how things went, found great rates for all my sis guests, including me and my FI, my sister loved her so much she even invited her to the wedding, but unfortunately, her TA had previously made arrangemtns the year prior so she couldn't make it. It took the TA about 2 days to weed through all of the resorts in Jamaica, decide on the best location, amenities and handled all her guests travel too. Good luck, but I would tell you my sister could not have kept her sanity if it weren't for her travel agent! Best BT
  5. My sister got married in Jamaica 3 years ago. We attended her wedding and all of the decor was provided by Tai Floral. They have been in Ocho Rios area forever and are very highly recommended. She had no problem putting the required deposit down. She was in contact with them frequently prior to her arrival in Jamaica and once she got to the resort (we all stayed at the Jamaica Inn), there was a note in her room that the manager from Tai had set up a conference call and would actually come to the Inn to meet with her. They are very professional, honest - beautiful decorations - I think they must be the best in Jamaica. Good uck !
  6. My FI and I vacationed in Punta Cana over the summer. We stayed at the Paradisus, took a cab over to the new Dreams, as we thought we may actually want to do our wedding in Punta Cana - as it turned out, we were not allowed inside, we only saw the lobby, and bars, we walked out a bit to the pools and then we got caught! Security asked to see our ID's we of course stated we were only visiting. But, this resort is WOW un a nutshell! It was absolutely beautiful what we saw of it. We may actually decide to do the wedding there after all. Thanks BT
  7. You have convinced me! I am calling Juan tomorrow! I have batted my head against the wall trying to decide between the resorts photographer and an outside company. Thanks for making my mind up tonight. I am so excited. I hope he can shoot at the Villas - we will find out tomorrow. Chilean beach sounds wonderful. It's now the end of summer - or into fall - do you have your pics up yet or will you be putting them on the website. Thanks again for a great review of your photographer! Word of mouth is the absolute best advertisement! BTurner~!
  8. Congratulations! Cannot wait to see your wedding pictures. We look at this resort too! Just beautiful, maybe we should buy a timeshare as well! Please post your pics - We are excited for you! Beverly & Mark - June 2010 - still looking for a suitable resort!!!
  9. Carly, That is a beautiful dress! I have not been shopping yet, but I am excited that we may also pick the Rui to get married at. They did not have my first date, so we had to pick another. Is the photographer from the hotel or someone else in Cabo. Thanks Beverly
  10. Hello too Megan! I just joined the forum. Mark and I have set our date for June 5, 2010I cannot access the page either and was interested in what the prices were running at the La Estancia. Were also considering the Pueblo Bonito Rose and I think there's another Pueblo within the same area. Mark told most of his family we will be on a swimmable beach!!!!!!!! I was upset he had told anyone before we had a chance to decide on a resort, so now that limits our possibilities. I canot access the file either, maybe newbies can't? Anyhoo, can you send it to If not, I can call and get pricing on my own but wanted to see what deal they gave you! Have you decided to go with the resort or are you still looking? We are still looking at other possibilities as well, Riu Santa Fe or Riu Palace, although not on the same beach, but in the near vicinity I think. Did you go with Dreams as I am reading many brides have had their wedding at I hear good things about it too. Was wondering what you knew about the Villa resorts as well as Riu or Dreams. Thanks Beverly & Mark Sunshine State Florida June 5, 2010 - CABO - ? Resort TBD!!!!
  11. Tammy, we are also thinking about the Villa Estansia, or PUeblo Bonito Rose or a similar villa on a swimmable beach as my FI, Mark told the guests already and the kids can't wait to get to the beach! I could have strangled him. I actually found another villa on the Pedegral side, but the owners would not rent out for just 3 or 4 nights to my guests. The Villa Estansia or Villa Del Arco looks to be the perfect setup as my guests can combine like a two bdrm and share the expense. Congratulations on your upcoming marriage! I am planning just June 5 2010. I haven't contacted a TA as yet for pricing, as we are still looking, but Know this is a high season in Cabo, so we better get to booking soon! Beverly & Mark Sunshine State - Florida
  12. Hi,we are also getting married in Cabo - but are having problems finding a resort. We've checked Dreams - Fiesta, Finnestra, private villas, condos and the all-inclusives. We think it may cost our guest up to $1500.00 a guest to do the Dreams resort. That is what I am finding on-line for next June 2010. We have tons of family and while most can afford it, there are some singles who may have a difficult time. We checked into renting some of the villas - Del Palmar and Del Arco, which are a little less than Dreams, but may work out best for most of our single friends to share with each other. Plus we have some childrren involved, although not many, moms and dads have already told us, the kids are looking forward to the beach! Well Cabo is not wher you can just jump in anywhere, so this news that got out by my wonderful FI, just narrowed our chances down even further. It is either the Riu SF or the Villas. I have heard the food at the villas are very good - does anyone know? The Villas are expensive, but now we must have a swimmable beach! I like the location with the arch in the background. So, between the Pueblo resorts on the beach or the Riu or Villas, what is your opinion. Our group may well top 60 guests. Thanks Beverly & Mark Sunshine FL State

Hi, we are thinking about marrying in Cabo San Lucas. Wondering whether an all-inclusive or Villa type would be best. Plan on having around 40 guest attend my wedding. It will be approximately June 5, 2010. That is our target date to have everything booked and paid for. Any suggestions of all-inclusives or rentals? Also what is the weather like in June? I've heard it does not rain much in Cabo?? Any suggestions for places to stay? Thank You, Beverly & Mark
