  4. I have the same wedding colors...these are fab! You did an awesome job thanks for the tips!
  5. Usually on the customs form you have to say that you are not bringing any food etc...into the country so IDK but could you get your caterer or the hotel restaurant to so it on your behalf? Get the meat shipped directly to the resort?
  6. Congratulations! You look beautiful:) Thanks for the detailed review!
  7. They have a really detailed facebook site. Check them out on there and you will meet a lot of brides that have been married there with tons of picts and opinions. Good luck!
  8. You look beautiful! Also, the first pict looks like out of a magazine...perfect! Im sorry things happened the way they did but Im happy that you were able to get all of your money back!
  9. Yes, we met on blacksingles.com. Funny thing is I saw that he was from Birmingham and I was a little concerned about him being from the deep south. However, he's from Birmingham UK! ROFL. That didn't stop us. We IM'ed each other all day and later that night he called me. I've been with him ever since. He proposed on 09-09-09 my 30th bday! It was awesome. So we've been together for 1 1/2 years now. Moral of the story... online relationships can work and so do long distance (even international ones) can work if both couples want it!

If you have any other input on the area....I will definitely take it!! We are planning on staying at the Islander Resort but getting married in the San Pablo Church in Marathon. I know....it's quite the drive I hear but the other church that was closer wanted us to bring our own priest so we decided against that. I wish I knew what any of these places were really like!! We really liked the Morada Cafe and loved Pierre's the sister property but like you said the prices are insane!

The Beachside and Pierhouse both offer packages that cover the officiant, flowers, etc. Is anyone planning something similar or have been to one of these hotels? Any other suggestions of places I should look. Thanks! Kristen the Pierhouse is beautiful and it looks like a really nice spot for an intimate wedding!

We deff thought about that but you would've thought I told my mother I was going to jump off a cliff lol Honestly I still struggle with everything because trying to plan a wedding with basically a date that is up in the air is a pain! Actually we thought about eloping and then having a in the DR a vow renewal 1 yr later. Its tough because we just dont want to hurt anyone!

  14. The pictures I saw of The Palms gazebo were wonderful! We are getting married in Miami at the Rusty Pelican deff not the beach scene we had in mind but it has a beautiful view of the water and it's in our price range
  15. OMG that is CRAZY! As they say truth is stranger than fiction!
  16. Thanks everyone! I've accepted the fact that we wont be getting married abroad but I am really happy and looking forward to our wedding in FL!
  17. The brownie sundae bar sounds so good! I think you should do what makes you happy. Personally people are driving me crazy telling me what I have to do when really I don't have to do anything I don't want to do! Follow your heart. Do what makes you happy...some people just won't be happy anyway! Good luck
  18. It's not you...it's them! How could your FBIL think its ok to invite someone to your wedding on the sly? Even if he doesn't come tot he wedding he's still going to be with your party. Thats just rude and inconsiderate. Maybe you could tell him how you feel and suggest he invite someone else.
  19. The house is amazing! You can just look at and envision your receptions. Sounds like it is going to be a lot of fun!
