  1. Ok, I can speak to this, for the Himitsu anyway. My husband and I went with our entire group to the Chinese section of himitsu one night, and he had his wedding sandals with linen capris and a button down shirt. The capris were NOT acceptable, they didn't mention the sandals! Actually, they didn't want to let him in. So (being the smart a*s that he is) he shimmied his capris down his butt, and stood kinda hunched over and said "how about now?" and they said YES. honestly, ridiculous. I believe he did wear closed toe shoes to the bordeaux when we went, I think that was just a coincidence though so I'm not sure.... GREAT CHOICE ON THE HUPPAH! Unreal, loved it!
  2. I didn't do a review... I know shame on me! I just never got around to it... If you are looking for any type of pictures in particular PM me and I will send some your way! As far as my hair, I could describe both of them and I'm sure there aren't two girls who do hair who look the same as them! PS: The spa does AMAZING work for pedicures/manicures... one of the girls in there did my french manicure on my toes the day before leaving, and she did it FREEHAND, no tracing, nothing and it stayed on for so long, longer than any pedicure I've had in Canada! Hi Jenny, when we were going to do the civil ceremony, it took about 3 weeks, and of course I was freaking out lol but the WC really will get back to you as soon as she knows Rest assured! I see someone posted the email for the concierge... the head of concierge's name is Aida Cabrera (it was in June anyway!) and she is AMAZING to deal with... we arranged to have a cake, champagne, chocolate covered strawberries, a banner and balloons in my MOH's room (a small fee for the champagne and chocolates of course), and she had it DONE I should add that we arrived at midnight, and it was all in there before she got there, fresh and the champagne was cold! AMAZING!
  3. My bridesmaid and I both had our hair done there, and both of our styles looked amazing, and very very close to what we picked out! My bridesmaid was more intricate, she had a french braid down behind her ear and then it was curled and stuff, mine was mostly a poof in front with all the curls piled in the back... I STRESSED about my hair before I went, but when I got there it just didn't matter as much anymore!
  4. I think it would be! There is a lot of room to mingle, and the show is right next door!
  5. Agree with Ash on all of that! Actually, my husband and I barely got a chance to have our champagne since we were on a tight schedule for pictures and to get to the bus for our reception on the boat. We also had the caribbean trio, which was a HIT! They were awesome. I saw many brides who used iPods though and it was also gorgeous! The speakers are on the beach, and you use the mic to speak into for your vows, which was nice! The speakers were free on the beach, but like Ash said I'm pretty sure they are about $110 to rent for the reception. As well, I couldn't agree more about El Patio. My reaction was "THAT'S where a reception woudl be?" It would be fine for just a dinner, even though like Ash said everyone could watch you if they really wanted to (lol) but for dancing, it doesn't seem like it would work there at all! Hmm... you mean you want to just get together for drinks, or have an actual cocktail served? I'm not sure what the cost would be for a cocktail hour type thing, maybe someone else can help with that! But if you are looking to get together for drinks, there is a bar adjacent to the gazebo (I think its called the Veranda) in the San Domingo Plaza that would be great, lots of room and little tables. 65 people would be a lot for the bordeaux terrace, but it probably COULD be done! I wish I was going back, I was going crazy at 24 days and positively FREAKING OUT once I was done work (which was actually only the Friday before we left... which was on a Monday). You will have a great time, don't worry about what you will forget or remember to bring, it will be great no matter what! Another suggestion that I have for brides who might do the sand ceremony. B and I did yours in front of our guests, and then it got wrecked in the travel process (even though we carried it on). What I recommend you do is doing the ceremony in front of your guests, and taking a little bit of beach sand home with you in a bottle in your suitcase, and re-doing it at home. None of our guests were ever the wiser!
  6. Hey ladies! I haven't posted in here forever, but I see there are a bunch of new brides!! yay!! I was married in July, for anyone who doesn't know, and we had our reception off of the resort on a catamaran style boat called "La Barcaza"... it was AMAZING and everyone at our wedding still talks about how unreal it was. If anyone wants any info about it I have A LOT... haha For those who can fit their party on the Bordeaux terrace, it is BEAUTIFUL We went to eat there 4 times in our 2 weeks, and one night everyone sat on the terrace and had drinks. Gorgeous! The Himitsu is also pretty, and would be better if you are planning to do the whole dancing thing and you have a lot of people. It has a great view of the gazebo and the grounds, but just be aware that people coming in and out of the Japanese/Chinese restaurant can see everything thats going on during your reception. At the Bordeaux I noticed they put up this kind of palm tree looking wall between the edge of the terrace and the stairs other people use for the restaurant, so it makes it a little more intimate. Any way you shake it, you will have a FABULOUS time! I miss it, I wish I could go back!
  7. We had our wedding on the beach, and I highly recommend the "huppah"... it shaded the boys while they waited, was prettier, and helped make the pictures better (since we weren't squinting very much! It costs extra, but you can definitely barter it is you are getting other stuff... we did!
  8. Wicker Park: Josh Hartnett (yum)
  9. hey ladies! I hope all of you Dreams Punta Cana brides are coming along well with the planning! Jenn you are so close!! I remember when it seemed like a long time for both of us, and here it is! WOW
  10. To add to the photographer talk, it is 79$ for a wedding pass for them. I would also recommend that when you meet the WC upon arrival, request that they call the photogapher the morning of your ceremony to confirm arrival time and whatnot. My photog was late and didn't communicate well the day before the ceremony and the day of so I had to have the WC intervene about an hour and a half befroe the ceremony. Save yourself the stress and have the WC do it from the get-go!
  11. Hey! First time posting in here... but I finished "The Book of Negroes" by Lawrence Hill and I thought I would rave about it... I want to read it AGAIN! lol  Now I'm on to a book called "A long way gone" by Ishmael Beah, very good and a true story
  12. aw Sherri DAMN I have super tiny feet, 5.5 or 6... WAHHH!
  13. Sherri,\I will measure the fuschia shoes that bought and wore ONCE. LOL What size foot are you? Â Jen- you know what, it does suck when people can't make it. It's awful in fact, but something kind of funny happens in the process... you will ALSO see how much people care for you and how far they are willing to go to participate in your special day! I was very humbled by that fact, even though my group wasn't huge (20 in total). Â As far as the arrangement flowers, they are on my other computer, but hopefully someone can get them to you! For the groomsmen, B bought them engraved flasks and sunglasses, so that they all had the same for the pictures. It turned out to be a great idea, and looked awesome!
  14. thanks for all the picture love ladies! One of my favorite is a black and white on the beach where I am straddling B so much fun!! Â lyndsay I am really not sure about the space question. It isn't overly big, but I'm sure you could move the tables aside when you wanted to dance. I guess it comes down to your guest count, how much equipment the DJ has, etc. So, what DO you have? haha
  15. Jenn Ithink it was just that it was hard to walk, and the sand got stuck in them and I didn't really like it! I think the sand was hot though, but astill would have been better IMO! ALL of my pro pics are here! www.hdcphoto.com username: benjaminandnatasha password: dreams
  16. good call, ska ska! I was just thinking that.... there are so many answers in here already its unreal!
  17. honestly Jenn, I went with my VS flip flops, but I wish I had of gone barefoot I ended up taking the sandals off for the pictures because I couldnt stand it anymore... I would go without if you can IMO!
  18. Hey Jenn, we got our wedding party to meet up at the buffet the night before the wedding, as well as the parents which totalled 11 people. We had no problem for this whatsoever! You could also show up at one of the a la catres around opening time for the particulr restaurant and you should be able to be sat together (or at 2 tables next to each other). Misty, sorry to hear about your WC troubles! I'm sure everything will be FANTASTIC once you arrive, no stress!!!
  19. We got married on June 18th at the courthouse at home, and didn't exchange rings. We just wore whatever we wanted and didn't exchange rings... very informal. Noone knew except my Mom, not even my Dad (he gets loose lips when he drinks... haha). It was still everything we wanted it to me, it didnt take any of the specialness out of our ceremony! People asked us about the documents, and we just said that we signed them the next day since our ceremony was too early in the day to have the judge be there (3:00pm) and we just got two random hotel employees to sign the certificate. When people asled about the certificate, we just said that it would be sent to us in 6 weeks or something.... and everyone bought it! Noone will even think of it in 6 weeks!
  20. Jenn we had to arrange it when we arrived, but it wasn't too difficult. Probably since we arrived around 11pm, there wasn't anyone else around! It can be done though, as long as they have availability for it. On the MOH subject, it was her birthday so we arranged to have a birthday banner on her door, a cake (both free of charge), a bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries for her when she arrived. They also put up some balloons without even telling us, so that was a nice surprise! They can also arrange flowers in the room, if you are interested you can PM me for the contact info for the Chief Concierge!
  21. Hi Jen! We had a group of 20 people in total. DPC was able to accommodate my group's requests, and had everyone in my group in the same building. In fact, they were even on the same floor! Except for us, since we were preferred club. We loved all of the little extras this gave us, so if you can do it, I would highly recommend it! My guests enjoyed their time at DPC immensely; one or two had A/C problems, and one of their problems was never resolved (which was kind of brutal). But they did not let it ruin their trip anyway The resort is gorgeous, immaculate and does not disappoint! We had Deyanira, and she was fantastic when it came to being a go-between for me and everyone else. She even helped me organize something with the head Concierge (Aida Cabrera); a surprise birthday for my MOH on the day we arrived! And, when HDC was running a few minutes late (and I was panicking) she made the call to see what was going on. She is actually expecting now (like Toya said) so I hope whoever has her gets to keep her! I found out about HDC on this forum, I would have never known otherwise. Despite the photographer being a few minutes late, he knew EXACTLY what to do, and we got mostly all the shots we were looking for. The ones that were missing were the detail shots, but we took those ourselves anyway
  22. Hi there! We used HDC for our wedding on July 1st, and he and his company were fantastic! If anyone would like the link to my customer access please send me a private message

When you were selecting your location did you consider both Dreams properties or was it DPC all the way? Also, just wondered how many people joined you at the resort and in addition to the decorations, what other extras you included for your ceremony? Also, any words to the wise for the rest of us planning DPC weddings? Thanks! Jenn I would recommend DPC for everyone!! The only thing that was kind of a let-down was the beach... let me explain! The sand was not as white as you would imagine, but it was very beautiful (hence why I was married on the beach). I would definitely get married on the beach again in a heartbeat, it was a fantastic decision! People (for the most part) respect a wedding and keep their distance. There was one or two people who walked through, but I was too caught up in the moment to notice. It was only afterward that I noticed a figure blurred out in the background. The water was the bigger issue, since you can only swim in a very small part of the ocean. I also heard from another group who was down there that their daughter was married at DPB and it was even more beautiful, but smaller. The only thing about Bavaro beach (from what I've heard) is that people walk in the water behind the ceremony A LOT more. And from my own experience, the vendors can be rather annoying (at DPC you don't have any, except for a couple on the resort). As for HDC (Arnaud) I would HIGHLY recommend him! a photographer from his company did our wedding (Francesco) and he was professional and knew exactly what would (and wouldn't) make a shot look great. We got our prints back before we went home (a definite bonus) and everyone is raving about our pictures!
