  1. Gorgeous! Really want to find that stamp you found at Michaels that says "handmade by Yours truly" now!
  2. Bridesmaid Dresses by Bill Levkoff, for a Hawaii wedding. Tip: Call different stores across the country for pricing. We live in TX, but bought these at a store in Raleigh, NC because they were $70 cheaper there! I used Raleigh because I knew someone there and she could pick up all the dresses and ship them to me in one box. Total shipping $15. Definitely worth a few phone calls!
  3. This is what the guys wore at my daughter's wedding @ Hilton Hawaiian Village, Honolulu. JCPenny, linen suits. Very inexpensive. How come the guys always get off so cheap? lol
  4. The great lawn can be very intimate when they set it up. It's really beautiful. Not sure about the roof top garden, if that's where they have the luau, I would skip it. We used the rainbow suites and it was great, but they do book up fast. I have tons and tons of info if you need any help just PM me. Deb
  5. Hi Jackie, We did a wedding in Honolulu this past June for my daughter and have a ton of info for planning over there. PM me and I'll give you email info etc. I have pictures, vendors, you name it. Would love to help you! Deb
  6. Everything is gone...wonder how you delete a post..need to do that
  7. Samoana..sent you a PM, have tons of pics to share if you still want to see them.
  8. Hey There! We used the rainbow suites. We did all of our own decorating and used the patios (both of them) for the cocktail hour and we set the bar out there for the whole night. It was wonderful. I have a lot of pictures and I'm pretty sure you are already on my FB friends so you should be able to see them there, though now that I think of it, I'm not sure I got all the reception pics loaded yet. Let me know if you can't see them and I'll get them to you! Deb
  9. I don't know what's wrong with some people. I literally saw this same post in several places, copied and pasted word for word. I find it interesting that there are no details as to what was "ruined", etc. Just a bunch of rambling by someone who probably can't be pleased or had a problem completely unrelated to any wedding. The HHV is in the wedding business and they have it down to an absolute art. They don't get flustered and they strive for perfection. We had one small snafu prior to getting over there for my daughter's wedding, well actually 2, but both were taken care of promptly and with a much better option. 1. The location of our Bridesmaid Breakfast had to be changed because of renovations that someone forgot to tell us would be going on. Another friend on FB knew of the reno's and warned me that it might affect our plans. I called and asked why no one had contacted me and that the new place they wanted us to go was not acceptable. They found another location on the property, gave us tables directly on the edge of the beach and discounted the entire bill for 15 people. It was beautiful!... 2. The 2nd issue was not actually with HHV, but with their Grand Vacations club. Told by a salesperson that my daughter and her new husband would be in a one bedroom condo at the newest tower, they found out the week before they were only going to be assigned a regular room in the hotel. I posted on their FB wall how unprofessional this was and that the only thing they were offered was a refund. I was not happy. They quickly found a condo for them in that nice building and upgraded them to a 2 bedroom ocean front condo. (Honeymooners don't really need two bedrooms...but hey, I guess it was twice the fun!) LOL All in all, check facts before you ever believe anyone who remains anonymous and make sure you get details.
  10. The Bridesmaid dresses are by Bill Levkoff, Bride is wearing Winnie Couture. The stands for the numbers were actually supplied by the Hilton.
  11. Thank you ladies! All the paper was from paperandmore.com just FYI I'm an avid scrapbooker and used to work for Recollections as an instructor in cards/canvases and scrapbook pages so I'm considering actually doing a side business for custom invites/wedding packages. Not sure if I want to do it yet, I love it as a hobby, but if I had a client who was a demanding bridezilla, I might not like it so much! LOL My daughter was super easy, and aside from the fact that she DID NOT want any "theme" per se, she basically said these are the colors and whatever you come up with will be fine. I had her choose fonts from different examples and proof everything, but basically that's it. She wanted it to "fit" a Hawaii wedding, but we weren't allowed to have any "beach stuff"...just casual, and elegant was her request. However, just to tease her, I did put a starfish on her table at the reception...this picture is an example of her reaction, too funny not to share!
  12. June, I PM'd you and sent you some info and the pic below of the Ocean Crystal Chapel, I have a ton more though so check your messages and email me
  13. You posted this same paragraph on a photo I submitted to Hilton Grand Vacations FB page, yet you did it anonymously. If they really ruined your wedding why are you remaining anonymous? They did a magnificent job at my daughter's wedding, customer service was unbelievably fantastic, everything turned into a day of perfection, but prior to going there we had a few snafu's and I also posted on their FB page, but I didn't do it anonymously and they took care of everything in advance for us. I have a hard time believing someone who "won't show their face" so to speak.
  14. Hi Ladies, We recently got back from Hawaii, where my daughter got married. I basically did all the planning, creating, etc., she just had to show up Anyway, now that we are not in "wedding mode", I have a little time to finally share some of the idea's and things we did to make it unique. Her wedding was on Oahu, at the Hilton Hawaiian Village, in the Ocean Crystal Chapel and we used the Rainbow suites for her reception. Everything was absolutely amazing and could not have been more perfect. We organized a lot of activities for everyone (we had 75 fly over from mostly Texas and the Northeast US). All of the info for activities was on the website I created for them so I'm adding a link to their website here as well in case you want any ideas or vendors. We paid for the site for several more months so someone might as well use what they can! Last of course, there is a picture of my daughter and her Bridal party. Everything is my original creation, Hope you enjoy! http://www.beccaandadam.weddingwindow.com Paper STD's rolled up inside bottle and mailed as a flat card to those we knew probably wouldn't come. Invites, Album favors for guests (these later had an insert in the center that said "Our trip to Hawaii, June 2011, Becca & Adam's Wedding", DVD's of Oahu were inserted in the invites to get everyone excited!Programs opened up to become fans for the guests to use if it was too hot.Table numbers and Place cards/boxes below
  15. Is the center star colored stones, or is that just the way they sit causing a reflection of color? I'd love it if they are all clear stones. Thanks!
  16. A friend suggested I post a thread to sell off all our wedding supplies after my daughters wedding because there is no way I'm paying to ship it all back home to Texas. So basically we will have table cloths, chair sashes, candy buffet jars, and tons of other stuff...Oh yeah the wedding dress too! Maybe even the bridesmaid dresses if the girls don't want them. I don't have details yet and will post or email pictures to anyone who wants more info, but I thought I would put this out there in case someone has a wedding close to our date and could use these things. The wedding is June 24th at the Ocean Crystal Chapel at the Hilton Hawaiian Village on Waikiki Bch. We will be on Oahu until July 4th for someone to pick this stuff up. I will not ship any of it. Just not dealing with it, sorry. The dress is by Winnie Couture's Avant Marie`e line. and it's a combination of two of her dresses so it's one of kind. The dress is Kamilia style 9101, and includes the crystal band of beading from Katarina style 9129. Gorgeous fitted and ruched bodice. Sweetheart neckline, crystal band at empire waist. Flare at about the lower thigh, beautiful flower details and very full detachable cathedral train with more flower details. It may be a 6, but my daughter wears a 4 so I'm not sure. She is only 5' tall though, with her shoes the dress will be hemmed to about 5' 4". Grazia size 7 shoes, style Catarina The other info I do have is this: Colors are Aqua, turquoise, greens, blues, whites. (Basically it's a sea-glass palette) We will have ten 120" white table cloths, you will have to wash them yourself. We have 80 turquoise crinkle satin and 80 apple green organza chair sashes, tied together they look gorgeous. We will have 3 clear acrylic cake stands, 8", 10", and 12" that stand at varying heights (not doing the traditional tiered cake) We will have 14 turquoise crinkle satin table runners. We might have flower vases, not sure on this yet. May have some wedding signs (Mr. and Mrs. etc) Diamond Confetti (the real nice acrylic pieces) There may be more! Just starting the list.
  17. Hello Ladies, Ok so I'm out of the loop on one big issue, tipping! My daughter's wedding is this June at the Ocean Crystal Chapel at HHV. The Hilton is doing the reception and they tell me that the prices quoted are not inclusive of tax and some service charge (Currently over 20%). When I ask about the service charge they tell me it covers incidentals like table cloths, etc., but also a percentage goes to the wait staff, the bartender, etc. However, they like to point out that this is NOT the tip. SO what the heck is it if you are charging me over 20% on top of the menu prices, and tax on top of that? If it's being distributed between servers and bartenders, etc, isn't that a tip? If not, how much am I supposed to tip and to who? DJ, photographer, cinematographer, The Reverand, The Harpist, Servers, Bartender??? Also, everyone but the servers and Bartender, are all the owners of their own company, they have no help and set their own prices (rather high I might add too). Kind of like you don't tip the owner of a salon if that's who does your hair, but you do tip everyone who works for her. Also, we are chartering a catamaran and catering it ourselves for the rehearsal dinner. It rents for $900 an hour, and their website says, not including tip. Am I supposed to tip them also? This could get very expensive, but I don't want to offend anyone if they were expecting a tip. When I got married we gave the pastor whatever amount we felt comfortable with, the church was free, and my dad took care of any tips at the hotel reception if there were any. So I am just clueless. Please let me know what is expected if you've had experience with this! All knowledge will be appreciated!
  18. I am working with Best Bridal at the Ocean Crystal Chapel, but we hired our own Photographer and Cinematographer. I would not take a package under any circumstances where I couldn't: A. Know the name of the vendor they want to contract to photograph the wedding and B. Choose whichever vendor I wanted from a list they had! We are using Rachel Robertson and her pictures are just stunning! She really has a knack for capturing the emotion of a wedding, not just creative pictures (which she does equally well). We met her last summer and immediately she felt like an old friend. I know my daughter (who's uncomfortable being the center of attention) and her rather shy fiance will feel very comfortable with her. Your pictures are the only thing that provides lasting memories and let's you see things you actually missed at your own wedding! Don't trust it to someone you don't know or haven't seen work from. What a stupid policy they have! Good luck! By the way, Rachel's site is: www.rachelrobertson.com in case you're interested.
  19. Try this website: www.hawaiiplanner.com It's a tours and activities site that American Express runs. I talked to them yesterday because they are located inside the Hilton Hawaiian village also, and we are trying to plan a snorkeling trip to Hanauma bay with 60-80 people coming over for my daughter's wedding. They only use reputable vendors and they make sure that all these companies keep their insurance up to date etc. There is a ton to choose from!
  20. Hi Jenny... My daughter is getting married at the HHV in the Ocean Crystal Chapel this June. It's a great location and a beautiful resort. I know that the Ala Moana Beach park is right next door practically and people get married there all the time. There are so many officiants that it should be hard to just hire one and have a quick private ceremony like you want. I think Magic Island is right there with the park and it's supposed to be really pretty. Also, Best Bridal has the Gazebo at the Ocean Crystal Chapel which is gorgeous. Beautiful landscaped grounds for pictures too. The Gazebo is WAY cheaper than the chapel, but then I don't know what you want to spend. Might be worth a look though! Some people posted things about lots of people, etc around the HHV and the chapel, and this is true, HOWEVER, I've been there the last 2 Junes and there are like 3 weddings a day, it's such a common event that people don't stand around and gawk and there are not that many people walking on the path right there where you'ld be taking pictures. I have lots of pictures of the gazebo, etc, there were no people around hardly. If you want them just email me (don't message me through here, I don't get on often) email at: [email protected] Deb
  21. I booked him!!!! Yay! I am so excited, his pricing is so much better than everyone else and he is so wonderful to talk to and easy to work with. My stuff is coming to $1900, but he is working from 10:30 am to 9 pm, and having 2-3 people at all times. They also have to go off site with the photographer for a photo shoot on the beach, so I am having him do a lot. Everyone else was over $3500...closer to $4500 actually or more. I emailed Fisheye and asked where I could maybe trim some of the costs and never heard back from them. Don't even care. They could tell me they are cheaper tomorrow and I wouldn't go with them. Princeton is going to be awesome. I copied him on your wonderful comments and I think he was thrilled! Â Thank you again! Â Deb
  22. Love, love, love your video! I emailed him and he called me back already! So nice to talk to and so personal. He's going to work up a quote for me because I want pre-wedding events (guys are doing a surf lesson the morning of) all the way through the reception. He seemed exceedingly fair so I am hoping it is a price I can live with, but I have a very strong suspicion it will be. I told him that I saw your original post on here and he recalled your name immediately. He was genuinely excited to hear that someone was saying great things about him on another site he didn't even know about. One of the studios I contacted had a 40% increase in their fees this year (aren;t we in a major recession people?) and they didn't even update that on their website, so when they quoted me, I quoted them back with what their website stated, and they told me about the increase. Very unprofessional if you ask me. If you are going to change rates/policies/etc. You should first put it on your site, then start quoting it, this is a destination wedding locale and people use the internet to start their search. They also told me 3-6 months (depending on the season) for me to get the video, so when I wrote back I said it's in June (I told them this in the first place) so how long would it take?... their reply, 8 months! I am not paying anyone in full and then waiting 8 months for the product. Just ridiculous. Â I'll let you know how it turns out! Â Debbie
