  1. I am looking to do the same!! And I was thinking of looking in Playa when I arrive. Do tell if you're able to find them somewhere! Thank you!
  2. I found a forum on here for tipping: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...-brides-53811/ It seems most of the brides were tipping betweeen $100 and $500 depending on the service they received. Some are giving actual gifts but others said the WCs probably preferred money in American dollars too - because they get a good exchange rate in town.
  3. Does anyone have any idea how much to tip the wedding coordinator?? Do we tip her in pesos?? And, do we tip the photog (I'm using Claudia Rodriguez) and the DJ (also not from the resort).

I am planning to do mugs for the swim up bars and I suppose they will technically be in a gift bag....and I may throw in a few more items. I do not want to be packing an entire suitcase just for wedding things because it costs money per bag! My parents can 't bring stuff because they aren't coming until two days after me. Also then people have to be able to fit stuff to bring home with them. Its just my opinion- I love all the ideas everyone has, I just can't do all of it myself. *Actually, I'm kind of wondering how to even get the oot bags/welcome letters to people if they're checking in all at different days. Should i bring stuff to the front desk each morning there is an arrival.....? what do you guys think? I went to a destination wedding last year and the bride and groom met us in the lobby with a tray of drinks when we arrived at the hotel.... she had a list of all of our flight arrival times from the travel agent. I plan to do this too...and that's when I'm going to give them their OOT bags. But I should mention this may not work for everyone... we have a lot of people coming in at relatively the same time - some of them on the same flight - so it won't be like we're standing in the lobby all day! For OOT bags, I was going to do nice beach totes (I was going to buy them wholesale and they came to like $4/ bag). But, then my fiance put me on a wedding budget so I had to nix them. Now, I'm just doing small gift bags with colorful tissue paper. And to be honest, most people bring their own beach bags when they travel and will probably prefer the smaller bags. PS. I think I read somewhere that the Iberostar charges $1 per OOT bag for them to put them in your guests' rooms.

I haven't had to, as of yet, actually uninvite anyone that has invited themselves. On another note, I am booking Claudia Rodriguez for my photos and was wondering if anyone has had good or bad experiences with her? So far the communication process is slow going, I'm still waiting for her to send me the link so that I can put our deposit down!! We're using Claudia Rodriquez for our wedding this May. I feel really good about booking her. She's very responsive, speaks English wonderfully and the photos on her web site as well as from other brides on this site are great!

We're using Claudia too... it's great to see her work at the Grand. We're getting married there too! Congratulations!
  7. Congratulations! The Paradisius was one of two resorts on our list we considered for our wedding. We did a site visit there and loved the gazebo location on the beach. Perla was also great to work with! So nice and helpful!
  8. Hi Jessica, Welcome to the Forum. Very helpful stuff here! Good luck!
  9. Congratulations! Good luck planning. We're , headed to Mexico, which seemed like the best bet for affordability, English speaking, direct flights from Philadelphia and beach beauty!

We are getting married at the Grand too. We decided to offer our guests the option of a room at the Maya (the hotel right next to the Grand and less expensive) or a room at the Grand. We were told by the Grand WC that guests staying at the Maya will need to have a guest pass to come to the Grand for the wedding. The cost is $70 for a night pass for Iberostar guests (if your wedding is at like 4 or so, that would cover it) and $100 or so for a day pass (if your guests or bridesmaids, etc. are staying at the Maya and decide to come over earlier). The cost is higher for guests staying at non-Iberostar hotels. We are picking up that cost for our guests. And she said we'll have to give her a list of guests coming from the other hotel and they'll get different wristbands for that night. We debated having our wedding at the Maya but just loved the Grand location of the beach ceremony and the LaBrisa resaurant for our reception so we just decided to do it there. Hope that helps!
  11. Foto Carribean does not have a good reputation from most of the Iberostar brides on this forum. When I was looking for a photog, my fiance emailed Foto Carribean and they never even emailed him back. I've heard bad quality, un-natural poses, they don't speak English, etc. The Iberostar charges $300 to use an outside photog.... but in my opinion, worth every penny for wedding photos...considering that's all you have left after your day (besides your new husband .
  12. Shannon, From what I recall, the chapel doesn't have air conditioning and it could get really warm inside for that many guests packed inside. Just a thought.
  13. I noticed there were some posts on here about vaccinations... Hep A or B.... Is anyone getting specific vaccinations for Riviera Maya? I was thinking the Swine Flu vac once it comes out, but that's it. Should we be worried about other diseases or flu?

Is there a site or forum where I can educated about what I can and can't bring with me?
  15. I'd love a copy too. [email protected]. So frustrating about getting enough posts or points or whatever to open things on here. Thanks!
