and I just received an email from them, with updated info (about the outside photogs, new price list) and now it appears you have to pay extra for the white chair covers for the reception?!?!?! Do you think that is just if you do the free dinner? I am doing the free dinner, then the private party at the wetbar...so i'm HOPING the white chair covers would qualify as "decoration & set up" ugg I just emailed sandra, i'll let you ladies know anything as soon as I hear back....and I also asked her about the $500 flat rate! But on the updated price list, it still had the pay for open bar

Yeah the price of the open bar is ridiculous!!! I'm only having about 30ppl and I dont even want to pay it for 30 nevermind having 100!!! Honestly, I wish they could get their information on one page. I would LOVE if it was 500 flat rate! That would save everyone so much money. the basic set up includes the white chair covers. you can pay for the sashes at $5/each, but you can get sashes a lot cheaper online. I'm going to buy mine online, and bring them with me. i'd go here, they have great prices: wedding linens direct home page

I know what you mean. My whole family booked their trips right away. So our wedding is in MAY, and EVERYONE in my FI family has YET to book their trip!!!! Is it me, or does anyone else find that a bit annoying? I mean, my wedding is in less than 3 months!

How hot do you think the sand will be? My 2yr old is going to be the flower girl, and I was wondering if you think the sand will be to hot for her to walk on. My dress is ivory, so hers is going to be ivory, and i've found it next to impossible to find nice dress ivory sandals!!

I agree with everyone else. It is YOUR day and you need to do what YOU want. The people who REALLY want to be there, will find a way to be there. If there is one thing i've learned about having a destination wedding, it's that you will get those who are excited about it from the beginning, and then you will have those who do nothing but complain about every aspect of it. I was in the same boat as you, I can not afford to have a big wedding. I'm from MA and I have looked at all places on Cape Cod and up the East Coast of MA, and they are all so expensive. I finally had to realize, that for once in my life, it's not about pleasing anyone else. Do what you want to do, and you will have an amazing time!

I'm interested to know this too. I got transfers through my travel agent, and I believe she said that 3 and under were fine sitting on your lap (my daughter will be 2 1/2 when we go down). But i'm not really looking forward to lugging the carseat everywhere, along with all the luggage, wedding dress, etc. But I also want what will be the safest option for my daughter! Does anyone know anything about the "live bands" there? I don't have a big crowd, and I know they won't really be into dancing, so I wanted to have a band...something carribean sounding!

Thank you ladies for all your thoughts...you really made me feel better!!! My aunt actually called my mom and apologized this morning, saying she was out of line, and that she can see my mom is thinking with her heart in throwing me a shower, and that she (my aunt) needs to start thinking with her heart more. So that was actually a big thing for my aunt, because she doesn't apologize for ANYTHING!!! But now it's my FI family that is the problem. HIs mom told him it was very "tackY" to have a shower. He told her it wasn't about the gifts, and we weren't asking for gifts. Her response was "that is the whole point of a shower, you cant show up with out a gift." As for his sister telling me the idea of my mom throwing me a shower was "stupid" and Ishouldn't have one because we wanted a destination wedding, she tried to change her story today after my FI called her out on it, and told her if she had a problem then not to go! UGG I swear, I hate drama! There are those people who have been excited about it from the get go, amd then there is that handful of people who do nothing but complain about every single thing. HIs mother made a comment about "well I think i'm the grooms mom and should know more about what is going on." I have TRIED to include her in everything!! I even asked her to come w/me when I got my dress. But she has shown no interest in anything at all. So why would I continue to bring up the wedding, when she acts as if she couldn't care less?? BTW his family still hasn't booked their trip...and we are getting married in may.

thanks ladies! I feel bad about people getting me presents, because they are already paying a lot to be at the wedding. I told my mom I don't really want one. My soon to be SIL just informed me it would be "crazy" to have a wedding shower because we are having a destination wedding. I don't know why, but that just really annoyed me. I just HATE how everyone questions your choice for a DW and complains about it. To me, if you are going to complain, then don't come. YOu can't make everyone happy, right?

So my mom and friends insist on throwing me a shower. I am having a very small wedding (around 30ppl). They invited all my aunts, cousins, etc. They can't afford to go. Turns out my aunt is pissed I am getting thrown a shower, because she can't go to the wedding, and thinks it's very rude to be asked to come to the shower. She called my mom and went off on her(i overheard). Saying how I don't deserve a shower, and it's rude that i'm having a destination wedding, and not wanting to have a wedding here around my family who has always been there for me. She was invited to the wedding though....What is everyones thoughts on this?

I ordered the invitations on Monday, and I got them yesturday. They are beautiful, and very good quality. I ordered 50 invites, double silver lined envelopes, rsvps and envelopes, and matching stickers to seal them with. It all came to under $80!!! I highly recommend them.
